ok the first time i accidentally bought 20 fortune cookies, i was kinda sleep walking (which i do often, acpc is the only app i run often enough other than music where it's been an issue) a few months ago
the very unfortunate second time i accidentally bought fortune cookies, today in fact, i was like "i feel like my luck is better when i buy individually... i'll just buy 5 individually"
i had so many repeats (i'd gotten muffy's cookie as a bell cookie maybe 7 times with decent luck) and was multitasking! so i didn't realize i was buying 5 packs until i was trying to buy my 5th cookie and had less than 100 tickets left lmfao
more to the point,, my luck was not better.
last time i bought 20 cookies, i didn't notice for a few hours. i got one of two items i could use out of the ten available, and it was not the one i actually needed. (which was expected, as the bird tree was the rarest one.)
out of the 20 cookies today, i got 2 new items i hadn't gotten before, the mirror (the rarest item, which i don't care for) and tree. i wanted specifically ONE item (the hex circle) and would have been maybe able to use THREE kinds (circle, dress, broom). i own literally none of the THREE kinds i would've used. i don't even have enough stamp cards to get the ONE item i needed after buying 40 cookies total. that's fucking ridiculous.
every time someone says "oh, well it's totally possible to get the items you want don't be greedy" please realize:
animal crossing is a completionist collector's game and i'm not even trying to complete it. out of 10 possible types of items each for two cookies, 20 possible items, i literally wanted 2. Out of buying 40 cookies, i got none of them, and that's normal for this game. i spent 2000 leaf tickets for those lootbox types. wanna know the real world equivalent for something that you don't even get?

the worst thing is that it's so expected i'm not even mad at the game, i'm used to it? i'm just relieved i'm not as mad as i thought i would be if this happened again--i'm not even upset at this beyond being moderately annoyed that i wasn't paying attention to what i was doing. (bad life choice. don't play nintendo and talk about cutting out tumors at the same time no matter how nice dissociation is, kids.)
