your regular reminder that acpc “whining” is in fact, legitimate concern about how unethically this mobile game works:

weekly to monthly, clothing or background sets priced equal to console game pricing (while having no direct effect to the upcoming console game)

aesthetic game charging for aesthetic items. you cannot argue ‘but it’s just cosmetics’ when the game is cosmetics.

completionist collecting while there’s microtransactions. there is a catalogue to keep track of items for you to collect and exclusive story animations for some fortune cookie items. it’s a collection game.

lootbox. gambling. acpc's already being banned from belgium. gambling for games aimed at minors should be illegal.

it’s a mobile game that can be deactivated like miitomo, with no data or purchases left for you to keep. this isn’t something you keep a physical copy of after you pay for the item.

also: this is coming from someone who has been acpc obsessed from the first week it came out almost two years ago and has been supporting it with money from earned gift cards. i’m not a cash whale but i do try to put in effort to support the game when it does good things. people who support the game are going to talk about having problems with it when it has problems. people who are like ‘i don’t need to spend a cent to enjoy the game’ or ‘calm down it can still be fun’ need to realize (1) they don’t have as much of a stake in how acpc operates as someone who spends more cash/effort and (2) whether the game is fun is not the concern here.

i regularly post acpc content and 'acpc has unethical business practices’ is a dead horse i will kick until it changes or the game is as dead as miitomo, even if i enjoy and play it anyway

Since the Lil Devil Fortune cookie set came to ACPC, all I wanted for my campsite was to have all my animals play heavy metal wearing slick shades and goth tees.

Over the last month or so, I had tried 3 times with the 5 pack after gathering a ton of leaf tickets and got so many duplicates of speakers and bass guitars that it made me wonder if trying to get the drums was a complete waste of money this way. It was to date the only fortune cookie set I really cared about completing.

So the other day I had a great idea since all this Sanrio stuff was coming out. I mapped it out to see how much I’d have to spend to get 10 stamp cards to trade in for the drums. I was going to buy one each of the Sanrio series packs of 5 so I’d be less likely to get a lot of duplicates. I calculated the 1,200 bell purchase which would be approximately $60 CAN.

You could imagine how scared I was to have buyers remorse, which is why I usually spend weeks deciding whether or not to buy anything online. Even if it’s a physical object that could be of use to me.

Well, I was very surprised in the end, because not only did this happen:

...I was so beyond happy with my campsite after I put in the drum set, that my smile hurt a little bit as I watched my animal friends play heavy metal:

So in the end, even though I probably shouldn’t have spent $60 to have all this, I’ve wasted $60 or more on things that made me genuinely upset in the past. So I think I’m okay with this.
