There is no Dark Forest in this version of Starclan, only the Seasonal Borders. For instance both Tigerstar and Bluestar are Starclan cats, but they would be different kinds of Starclan cats.
Starclan is divided by the four seasons, and how you performed in life determines which season you are assigned too. The season is determined both your own opinions of yourself and personal reasonings for why you did things, along with the actual actions.
Each area is a perfect encapsulation of the season, Newleaf is BEAUTIFUL with flowers, Leaf-Fall has so many colorful leaves, and Leafbare is picturesque with frozen lakes and glistening snowbanks.
Greenleaf is the closest to Starclan as we know it. All year long it is warm and the prey runs very well. It's also very much the default tier, you were a background cat your whole life and did nothing but be a background cat? Congrats you're getting into Greenleaf. Kits are also automatically placed into Greenleaf.
Newleaf is a lot like Greenleaf but not as perfect, you're more likely to get rain and colder days. These are the cats that tried to do what's right, but fell short in very reasonable ways. This is for cat's like Blackstar or Mudclaw who really did good things and did try very hard and genuinely believed they were doing the right thing, but still had some black stains on them they couldn't wash away. Comfortable, but not perfect.
Leaf-fall is more on the brisk side. Lots of rain, and while prey isn't the easiest to find, there is prey, a cat can be mostly comfortable here, even if it's not the nicest life. This is for the cats that had negative intentions, but didn't do enough harm to be considered irredeemable or had reasonings that are sympathetic enough. Cat's like Ashfur or Mapleshade who did a lot bad, and maybe can't be forgiven, but weren't the worst ever and honestly didn't even do more damage then an intense battle between clans could possibly have done.
Leafbare is covered in snow, it's actually quite beautiful. Prey is very scarce but not completely missing, it's hard to keep warm but cats wont suffer from things like frostbite or anything, so they're just cold. It snows often, and many Leafbare cats will stick together if they're compatible enough to keep warm. Rarely there will be a more warm day as well, it's livable. A cat won't be the most happy here, but they have enough to be content, especially once they get more used to the cold. This is cat's like Brokenstar and Tigerstar who knew full well they were doing immense amounts of war crimes and didn't even have a good reason for them.
Depending on your season will also show how easy it is to dream walk, a Greenleaf cat can do so with ease, but a Leafbare cat will have to work hard for a long time to slip into a dream even once.
Cats can cross the borders, but only going down and up to the original season. A Newleaf cat can never enter Greenleaf but both a Newleaf and Greenleaf cat can visit Leaf-fall. To prevent trouble though, kits can only cross borders going down further then Newleaf if accompanied by a Greenleaf cat. So cat's are constantly crossing the borders, perhaps a Newleaf cat misses snow and so they spend a few hours frolicking in Leafbare. Or maybe some kits want to see their morally questionable Leaf-fall parent so a Greenleaf cat supervises the meeting. This keeps cats from being permanently separated from each other, but also keeps it so cats who may be more fond of other seasons can actually still experience those seasons.
This establishes Starclan as less like heaven and more like a genuine place where dead cats can rest and explore. Sure it's not ideal to be in Leafbare, but there's still things to do and prey to hunt. Even cats in Leafbare have a say in things if all of Starclan is pulled into a meeting, after all sometimes to best understand how to tackle a threat is the observations from a previous threat.
Along with that cats will often bring gifts as they cross borders, like yeah if you're in Leafbare most cats might not like you but sometimes someone from another season will come with a huge mouse and give it to you so you make sure no one bothers them while they roll in snow. Or your mom brings you a thrush because even though you did bad things she's still your mom and she loves you. If anything, it encourages Leafbare cats to make connections and friends after death, helping them become more well rounded and less aggressive.
In ShellClan, a patrol of Sandclaw and Sunwhisker returned with an injured Mangledfoot between them, and panic ran through the camp as it was reported a large coyote had attacked the patrol.
Slugface was sent with Sunwhisker to look for the oldest Medicine Cat, Eelskip, as Skunkbelly and Otterpaw tried to heal Mangledfoot. It was a shock when the senior warrior passed, and the patrol returned with only word they couldn’t find Eelskip, just his scent mixed with the coyotes, and blood.
With the gathering that night, Crowstar of ShellClan decided to report on the matter, however things got nasty when a PebbleClan warrior broke out in protest against helping, since ShellClan had yet to offer help with their rogue problem.
The following morning, patrols were sent out in ShellClan, the main three ones out to hunt, patrol, and search for the coyote while the rest stayed in camp. However, Skunkbelly and Otterpaw left the clan to pick up herbs.
One of the Hunting Patrols had Poppyleg, Heronwing, and Foggypelt, while the other had Firefoot, Lionsong, and their apprentices.
Dawnheart, Morningflower, and Foxpaw were sent to doa border check and ran into the deer in the area.. The warriors following the deer caught onto a scent that pointed to coyotes in the area to hunt, and seeing the cats made the wolves unsettle and attack.
The male chased the deer further into the territory, while the female chased after the cats. In the process of the deer fleeing, Morningflower saved Foxpaw by getting a wolf to chase her while Foxpaw climbed a tree for safty. Dawnheart, sure of her apprentices safty, went after the deer and the other wolf to warn the clan.
The deer heard ran through the rest of the territory, and one ended up kicking and killing Poppyleg. Dawnheart arrived in time to warn Heronwing and Foggypelt of the wolf, and helped return Poppyleg to camp. Crowstar, once alerted, ran to find the other warriors.
The noise of the stampede frightened Otterpaw who fled from Skunkbelly in their distress. At this point, the male wolf had lost interest of the herd and chose to find the smaller prey, coming across Firefoots patrol and promptly killing Lionsong, and injuring the other paroling cats.
Firefoot urged Frostpaw up a tree, and when Dawnheart arrived, she and Rainfoot were able to fight the wolf back.
Foxpaw had decided to free herself from the tree during this, and allow one of the other wolves to chase after her. She confused and lost it along the stream border, but was lost to the water.
Otterpaw was then attacked on the wolfs return, destroying their front leg and tossing Shrewpaw about like a mouse causing her broken jaw.
Crowstar arrives and between he, Dawnheart, and Rainfoot they managed to back the other cats up.
When the cats manage to return feeling somewhat safe, the deaths of their fallen warriors is announced. Fearing Foxpaw’s death, Shrewpaw sneaks out to try and find her while the camp mourns their lost ones and Morningflower. Skunkbelly and Sunwhisker go to follow the injured apprentice, and Crowstar sends out his own patrol to search for the missing cats.He however goes to meet PebbleClan with Slugface, Sandclaw, Firefoot and Foggypelt. However when they arrive, Bluecloud is manandling Shrewpaw. She isrealeased, and Sunwhisker lectures her once back in their own territory.
Larkstar and Crowstar argue together over how the coyote issue should be addressed. It is decided that for now, ShellClan will take refuge in PebbleClan. After only staying in the other camp a few days, Crowstar takes a patrol of both PebbleClan and ShellClan cats out to the coyotes den.
Once there, Crowstar had the cats seperate - one for scouting the wolves, the other to try and find their trail.
Emberpaw didn’t realize she had led the wolves towards the patrol, and they busted into the group maws snapping. In panic, Emberpaw and Breezeflight attempted to get one of the wolves to chase them; and Breezeflight shoved Emberpaw out of the way and tells her to get help.
This however does ultimately leave Breezeflight open and wounded until Dawnstripe jumps on the wolf.
The other wolf goes straight for Crowstar, who tries to attack it back and goes for its eyes. When Harrierflight tries to assist she is knocked back, and finds she has completely lost sight in her bad eye.
Breezeflight however, bleeds out from her injuries, and Dawnstripe was killed.
Crowstar lost a life to the wolf, and while regaining consciousness was protected by Hemlockstorm. However the tom confronted the leader with a demand to know if all the loss they were facing was worth it.
As Emberpaw runs for help, she runs into Foxpaw and Katsu returning to the territory. With a quick plea and a fast briefing, Emberpaw leads them to help with the wolves.
Torneye isn’t the best fighting, and attempts to help the wounded and move the dead, but loses a third of his tail in the process of working around an angry wolf.
The three younger cats work together to help drive off one of the wolves with Spottedshadow, Firefoot and Mudsplash. Meanwhile, Crowstar, Hemlockstorm, Slugface, and Harrierflight and the others face the other. Crowstar and Hemlockstorm wind up facing it alone near the edge of the brea.
When Crwostar returns, he comes alone and says that Hemlockstorm is dead.
Firefoot and Mudsplash confronts Crowstar, calling him out since thats two ShellClanners dead over this, not to mention the wounded.
Crowstar snaps back that he knows about the loses, but now ShellClan is safe. He makes the cats return to PebbleClan, telling Katsu to return with them.
However, when they return to PebbleClan camp, they seem to be in their own shock, and many of them mell like soot and are in Skunkbelly and Dapplefrosts care.
Katsu is silent throught even being interrigated by Larkstar, and is invited to return with ShellClan by Dawnheart and other cats.
After a week of recovinering in Larkstar’s camp, Crowstar demands that they reutrn to their own territory.
Another week passes, and Morningflower returns to camp with another loner named Sammy.
Crowstar watches as the clan adjusts to Sammy, and snaps that he feels the clan is leading itself without him. He snaps at Otterpaw for trying to rename himself, and for the clan accepting a cat without his permission.
When it is revealed that Sammy is the father of Morningflowers coming litter, Crowstar is silenced.
Out of his own anger and frustration, Crowstar decides to check the border of where the coyotes were, with his own patrol of cats who haven’t expressed any anger towards him.
When Crowstar is injured from a fall and assisted back, he seems to have grown quiet and allows Otterpaw’s name to be changed to Mangledpaw. However, as if to make it seem like it has less meaning, he also gives Shrewpaw the name change to Twistedpaw, and offers for Katsu to remain in camp if she wished.
PebbleClan has been bothered and plagued by the rogues of the windmill for some times now, first losing their deputy Huntinglion to them and as of afterwards many others. Under stress of this, when Crowstar asks for assistance at the gathering, Huckleberryhearts behavior and direct challenge of Larkstars opinion of choosing Goosefeather as next deputy came out at the gathering.
Once returning home, a challenge by combat was directed to choose the next deputy; and come the trial Larkstar asked those who did not wish to witness the trial leave camp. Ferretface and her apprentice Tawnypaw decided to leave with Spidernoses patrol. This group of cats ended up near the north border to run across Katsu, Shark, and Stewart. This quickly leads to conflict as Spidernose refuses to let the rogues pass and trying to get them to go around; quickly turning the situation hostile.
Tawnypaw and Shark strike for each other, and it turns dirty real quick.
Back in camp, Goosefeather wins the trial by combat and leaves to rest. Huckleberryheart follows after him, and engage in another fight, and in self defense Goosefeather is forced to kill Huckleberryheart, and keeps it to himself in a nervous panick.
However, since the fight in camp is over, Larkstar sends Bluecloud out of camp to find Spidernoses patrol.
Kong arrives at the border and engages with Spidernose, only to be knocked down by Bluecloud. During this, Shark has mauled Tawnypaw and kills her in blind rage. Spidernose and Bluecloud cannot get past Kong, and the battle ends when Tawnypaw’s neck snapped.
Katsu released Ferretface in panic, and Stewart and Katsu work to remove Shark from further mauling Tawnypaws body. Kong releases Bluecloud, apologizes for the death and shepherds the cats from the windmill away.
After the body arrives, Larkstar announces the full night to mourn her. After this he decides to lead a patrol to the rogues and lets them know that the clan will not have any more deaths at teh hands of the rogues least they wish a much worse fight.
He sets out with Teaselwhisker and Harrierflight to the border and find Shrewpaw; Bluecloud then proceeds to wrsetle the injured apprentice into submission despite being told to return to the camp. ShellClan arrives at the border during this, and causes high tensions as they demand Shrewpaw to be returned.
Both Crowstar and Larkstar, despite high tensions, argue over the coyote problem ShellClan is currently having. The final decision being Larkstar allows Crowstar to bring his clan to the camp. He mentions later that for this, Crowstar must assist in dealing with the rogues.
When Crowstar takes a patrol to deal with the coyotes, Larkstar remains in camp with the majority of other clan cats.
When the scent of fire and smoke rises in the distance, a patrol is sent out to investigate. They find that the windmill is on fire, and many of the rogues there working together to get out.
Some cats in the clan patrol go to try and help, however some are met with overprotective rage at the assistance.
Bluecloud and Cinnamonpaw wind up in a confrontation with Shark and Cloverfield, and during the fight, Cinnamonpaw seeks revenge against Shark for killing her littermate Tawnypaw.
However, for those who decided to try and help, Maplepaw wound up with very bad burns and Pigeontuft needed to be treated for her inability to breathe afterwards.
The rogues from the fire however were not welcomed to stay, and when Crowstar returned with a cat Spidernose pointed out as being there for Tawnypaws death, Larkstar rounded and turned on the cat until Dawnheart stood between them.
Tensions remained high until ShellClan returned to their own territory, but not too shortly after they left, Goosefeather came forward about what happened and where Huckleberryheart had gone… the clan seemed to understand, but hey may not have outwardly reacted.
A moon after all had settled, new cat came onto the PebbleClan lands with a clan name…
The Black Skies had some minor trouble of their own.
Murdoc’s trial ended with the tom basically telling Binx off as she decided that she didn’t want him around to stir up trouble. He laughed and declared he would leave right away. However, when Jitterbug was sent to be sure of it, Murdoc lashed out how he wouldn’t stay there even if they granted him and all his future kits immunity; in which he looked to Loki and shouted ‘good luck’ before running.
Jitterbug and Princess Peach were tol to chase after him,, but he lost them once he was in the town. It’s here he ran into the unnamed kit still looking for her name, and told her if she wanted to leave, she would follow him off the island.
After declaring Baby the winner of his litters Blood Royal, Apollo had and won his own. Murdoc and the runaway were declared banned from the island, never allowed to return - however since Murdoc is so useful they are currently not considered enemies unless Murdoc refuses to find a new recruit for the island at least once a moon.
The Rogues were at rest for awhile, new couples blooming and a small family happily living at ease. However, everything changed when suddenly the lazing cats woke to find the windmill on fire…
Luckily, Kong and Stewart were in the city, as they had been told to stay there by Murdoc once he and Katsudon arrived. However, Katsu and Foxpaw had decided to follow the black tom and his new friend to the windmill territory - only to find theat Katsus old home was burning when they arrived.
In panic, Foxpaw ran with Katsu towards ShellClan where she hasn’t returned from since. Stewart and Kong only heard about the windmill burning down when two-leg city cats started talking…
But the cats in the windmill were forced out - and ran into trouble with Clan cats that resulted in Sharks death and Cloverfields disappearance.
The windmill is in shambles, and have left the rogues with a lack of home least they go for the further one up by the two-leg bridge.
