Hey yall! Did some silhouette practice recently with anthro Wof tribes, I think they turned out really cool! Sorta zootopia-like postures, I really like these guys! Should I do more with them?
They’re all quite funky and I love them all dearly.
Edit: here are the full blacked out silhouettes!
Edit 2: someone asked for some lineart for ppl to use for their ocs! So here is the lineart! Please make sure to use credit if you use my lineart, but feel free to use it w/o asking first! Just make sure to use credit and tag me so I can see ur creations! I love to see everyone’s oc!! ^^ and I’d love to see inspired creations if you want to make your oc in this style! ^^ maybe more coming?
@gooberclown here you go! I hope u like them! ^^ have fun!!!
got bored so i drew sundew from memory with my own elements
i drew the Tribes
some Various Notes about each of them: - MudWings have the toughest scales out of all the tribes; they also have dorsal nostrils on top of their heads and flexible ears, allowing them the ability to breathe and listen for danger while almost completely submerged in mud - SeaWings have the softest scales, but the max brightness of their bioluminescent spots can momentarily blind a dragon (and cause a nasty headache), so other tribes try not to get too close when in combat - SkyWings can have multiple horns, though it's not uncommon for a SkyWing to only have one pair; their feathers are specifically designed to repel heat to a great degree, making them almost completely fireproof--- though, they can burn if a phoenix (what they call firescales) touches them - RainWings often have eyespots on various parts of their bodies, often to deter and confuse attacking animals (though, when they're not in danger, many probably think it looks sick---which they're right about---and keep them on) - NightWings have scutes that they shed annually (it's very itchy and bothersome, but it's made up for by the fact that NightWings have the second toughest scales out of all the tribes because of this shedding). However, these scales are covered in an extremely fine velvet, making their movements completely silent (including flight, but only with great practice and precision) - SandWings have the biggest ears out of all the tribes (aside from NightWings), which they use to expel heat from their bodies to keep cool, same for the sail along their heads and spines; they also have a hood on their necks that flare when they feel threatened to seem bigger (as they are the second smallest tribe, so they gotta take what they can get) -IceWings, as I think I've mentioned before, use the spines on their necks and shoulders to communicate with one another, similarly to tenrecs; they're also covered in a dense fur to keep warm, and their sharp spines are just specialized fur, hardened and thickened as for the Pantalan tribes, i dont know how i'll use them in my rewrite, but i think they're cool concepts, and i wanted to explore them a little bit more - HiveWings have a tough, segmented "shell", which is actually just scales fused together for optimal defense; they also have antenna right above their earholes to better sense vibrations and frequency - SilkWings, like HiveWings, also have antenna, but one set is used for sensing pheromones while the other is for vibrations; they have long, soft fur on their necks. why? dont ask me that, that's not my business. - for LeafWings, i took inspiration from leafy sea dragons for the design, meaning that they're absolutely covered in leafy camouflage; just like in canon, they can photosynthesize, but their leafspeak comes from the fact that the "plants" on their bodies (which is actually just specialized antennae) can read and respond to the frequency of other plants, which can stimulate growth and other behaviors
Saw @spookys1fan do silhouette and design practice with anthro Wing of Fire dragons and got inspired to draw my own.
I leaned more into my headcanons and ‘realistic’ style, focusing less on silhouettes cause I wanted them as bases so I can make character designs faster. Drawing dragons bases for design is something I’ve wanted to do for a while, but doing them normally made colouring designs kinda inconvenient because they didn’t fit on a page very nicely and I struggled to keep them simple. Studying Spooky’s made the tribes easier to simplify and the anthro designs means I can fit them together nicely without having to overlap.
Also stole some design elements from Spooky like the leafwing tail, so credit for the ideas! Here is her post this is inspired off of:
