seawing but i wanted to try and make it more seal like
I like to imagine something commonly done within seawings regarding romance is similar to penguins but instead of finding the perfect pebble they look for the “perfect shell” or some sort of other natural treasure of the seas— like sand dollars. There’s definitely some that are more impressive than others, but really it call comes down to how the dragon who’s been offered it feels.
11) Arapaima and (Princess) Arbacia
Arapaima is one of my first Wings of Fire OCs ever. First I called her Raindrop, then decided to change her name to be less generic for a RainWing SeaWing. She hatched to Jade, who recently left an abusive relationship, and Dart. She had a sister named Shimmer and a half brother, Ebbingflow, and they all lived in peace until Jade's ex, Nightfighter, returned with his new partner, Silence. They got into a fight and Dart was killed. Jade was badly hurt when out of nowhere a large SandWing killed Silence and scared off Nightfighter. Though she didn't care for Jade either, taking Ebbingflow and Arapaima for her own selfish reasons. She was raised in Cindlit, a human society that respects dragons and worships an ultimate deity of all of them. Arapaima particularly has an alternate name of Nveduei.
Arbacia is a female SeaWing who remained in the lower classes for her purple scales. In preschool she met Princess Manta and she chose her as her best friend, checking up on her and once paying for an otherwise permanent wing injury. Arbacia temporarily served in the SeaWing army before being shifted to construction. She met her first partner there but he unfortunately passed away while working with the RainWings. She would later remarry to a SeaWing curator, Boto. If everything sounds familiar to you then you're correct. She is my interpretation of Indigo's mother who she had with Boto, my interpetation of Indigo's father. She got a job at the museum from him, but she would sometimes go to help her sister in the mines when she needed to get off of a shift early. She died with her in a cave in.
10) Prince Apollo and Aqua
In this AU made before The Hybrid Prince, I gave Monarch a sister, brother in law, daughter and a surviving niece. The niece, Princess Pondhawk, was able to escape the HiveWing prisons because her mother, Princess Eurema, lied to all the tribes that her daughter didn't have flamesilk. She left and created the Diadem Village, a reviving SilkWing Queendom. Apollo is the son of Queen Pondhawk of SilkWings but was also the least like his mother. He didn't have motivation for everything and his peers sometimes made fun of him for being like the HiveWings' model of their tribe. One day he wanted a break and hung out with a rescued SeaWing, (Princess) Brook. He grew so interested in Pyrrhian differences from his tribe that he decided he was going into biology, specifically to learn about how animals evolve and adapt to reach their current state.
Aqua is a female sea dragon hatched before The Scorching. She served as Thorn Empire's greatest dragon before Fang hatched. She was separated from her egg, Puddle, and was "encouraged" to never reconnect with her. Despite it all, she reunited with her daughter and helped her escape, later joining in Fang's retaliation to the human empires. She didn't participate in the war, settling down with her daughter in the mires.
9) Prinxe Anole and Apama
Prinxe Anole is a demimasculine RainWing and the fankid of Princess Python. Ray were the only one between rair siblings to not get assassin training. Instead, their rare mutation made their antivenom for their mouth spread through their body, making it fight down venom faster. Anole took the opportunity and studied venom from animals, becoming a biologist versed in that field, as well as poisons (of course no immunity to it since poison is not venom).
Apama is a female SeaWing-RainWing and an early OC I made. I haven't decided how she would be in Expanseverse so I don't have much to say. The only thing I had was that she was a great doctor who mediated the two tribes after the SeaWings saved the RainWings from their tyrant animus queen.
I have so many wof ocs it's not even funny so imma try to draw two daily. these are under my wings of fire au expanseverse (fandom wiki link, off fandom location one day). I already made joy ang refs for them but decided to stylise them so it's not boring
1) Abyss and Acacia
Abyss is an adult male SeaWing oceanographer, specifically for of course the abyssopelagic layer, working in tandem with the SeaWing Council Member of Aquaculture. He was originally a part of the Abyssal SeaWings, or self-labeled SeekWings, which were the lowest-class SeaWing pearl divers from 2,000 years ago. They split to create their own society that didn't hinge on their exploitation, and the upper class SeaWings feared it would become successful enough to create a new tribe. They sent rats in (infiltrating 'members') to capture and disperse the members until only a few remained. The rest either were killed or forced back into the SeaWing Queendom.
Years later, the SeekWings were just beginning to recover numbers as new low-class SeaWings defected to their side out of desperation. That is when a fissure destroys their home. Most actually are able to find a new residence but Abyss' aunt took him and abandon them when he was three. Being so new at such an age, he only made a few friends in the SeaWing Queendom, all of whom drifted apart. He is also a player in the sport Castle Tumble on the side of the attacking. His attention to detail regarding behavior and visuals makes him great at reading the tower defenders, rocketing him up to the continent leagues.
(I have many OCs based off of background dragons in the Graphic Novels. This one is from The Lost Heir)
Acacia is an adult female LeafWing and formerly a part of the accidental Pantala refuge team with Princess Brunette, Owl, Polka, and Cantil. She is a part of the family that kept to Pyrrhian ways, maintaining a trade with RainWings who also avoided their own peacemaker queen's rules. However it ended when the Breath of Evil destroyed and blocked their ports. As the Pantalan tribes grew accustomed to the home, her family would be ostracized more for trying to connect to the land that despised them until they were banished to obscurity. It made all their descendants, including her, rudely aloof, assertive, and pessimistic. However by the end of her journey, the LeafSilk Queendom recognises the years of neglect and disrespect and she is appointed in the LeafWing council under Education as a historian.
Ironic that the first two are subfactions of their tribes that were banished. I did not intentionally do that, I wrote Abyss' page way before Acacia's.
I’m rereading my wings of fire books and I genuinely don’t know
Is she dead or did she just get her teeth ripped out???
this one was fun :]
Quick addendum on me deciding on them breathing through their skin instead of via gills also, since there’s like. One animal that has both lungs and gills at the same time I wanted to pick something maybe slightly more realistic, (THOUGH IM NOT AN EXPERT THIS IS FOR FUN), originally I was going to make them just hold their breath for a really long time like whales or seals but the existence of the underwater palace with the implication that dragons live their longterm made that seem unrealistic. Instead I went for the way frogs seem to go about this issue by having oxygen and water diffuse through their skin into the bloodstream, this does make them incredibly susceptible to being ill from poor water quality so logistically seawings would probably be an indicator species. The iguana salt spray in addition to this also seemed reasonable to remove the excess salt though I’m not sure even that would be enough? Okay that’s all I think
