I suddenly got curious, has it ever been mentioned in lux’s lore how rich she and her family are?

I’m talking as in comparison to other places in Runeterra, is Demacia rich in general? Can lux’s family be considered one of the most influential? something akin the 1% families in our real world that can control everything or is her family rich but not that influential?

I suppose they must be more powerful than the Kirammans for example, but I haven’t read that much lore if I’m honest with you.

The Kirammans are wealthy, sure, in terms of being a powerful mercantile family in a technologically advanced port city-state and global trade hub like Piltover. Their wealth is going to be measured in political alliances with other clans and guilds, trade deals, invention patents, shipyards, storeyards and shipping companies owned, and goods moved and traded. In terms of actual material wealth (considering the Crownguards own literal castles) it's hard to say who's got more.

But Crownguards are absurdly powerful in Demacia's hierarchy. Don't think in terms of money; they've probably got quite the hefty treasury, but it almost doesn't matter.

This is a feudal society, where the Throne and the monarch upon it are the ultimate power, and the Crownguards are as their name suggests the right hands of those kings. Trusted protectors of the throne, the lineage that has guarded the kings and queens of Demacia for centuries, the last line of defense against the enemies of the kingdom, etc etc.

Since Demacia has (according to its still-current lore) a system whereby differing noble houses can put a king on the Throne, House Crownguard having the role of guardians of whoever's on the throne makes them arguably more powerful than any individual king, since their role is stable no matter who's wearing that crown.

Tianna Crownguard is the High Marshal of the entire Demacian military, and Demacia is an intensely militarized society, so she's almost on par with the King in that whatever she says basically goes and since she's a seasoned veteran in comparison to Jarvan IV (though not his father) it could be argued that she's the 'power behind the throne' and presently the most powerful non-royal in Demacia.

Eldred Crownguard is/was the head of the Mageseekers, so the Demacian secret police (specifically to hunt mages) and had the ear of the King and the ability to investigate nearly anyone in the kingdom on suspicion of magecraft.

And Garen Crownguard is the First Sword of the Dauntless Vanguard, so he's the commander of the elite frontline fighting force of Demacia and considered a hero of the kingdom.

So yeah, while the Crownguards aren't invincible - Lux being outed as a mage would prove a major scandal for them and bring dishonor to the name if they didn't have the means to cover it up, which they have been, without her knowledge, for some time - they are very powerful figures in the Demacian hierarchy.

And a lot of that wealth and power is vested in the legacy of the Crownguard name, their place of honor beside the kings of Demacia, and their history of service to the kingdom.

So its in a much more old world medieval sense than the Kirammans.

what is your favorite ancient paleozoic League Lore and/or ancient Piltover's Finest lore that most people would not know lmfao

Ooh ok a multistep answer.

I don't know if it's quite paleozoic, but most people have no idea that this was ever a thing and it's been patched out since. Back in the day, if you left your screen at the victory/defeat screen in an aram match, there was a small chance that Lissandra would give you a whole monologue about the frozen watchers and the history of the Howling Abyss. Note that Lissandra is very much an unreliable narrator here lmfao.

So many people who I know played the game still have no idea that this existed! It was really cool to randomly organically stumble across this in the middle of the night in Uni. (As an aside - the music for Howling Abyss is soooo good)

I'm also really fond of the Garen and Katarina show that they storyboarded but never got anywhere with - what could have been man, what could have been.

For Piltover's Finest, I really enjoy their original old bios and the old judgement for Caitlyn. Cassandra deciding that wow my idiot child is going to get herself killed, it is time to give her gun is something that will never fail to crack me up. And Vi being this heart of gold thief who had to steal to make ends meet but also being completely unwilling to let people come to harms way in the process - I love her, your honor.

Also - Vi being a self taught engineer who built her own gauntlets is technically old league lore but I say PHOOEY to that. That's canonical Vi even today for me, free her from the bad at math himbo hcs
