People of the deaf/hard of hearing community, I have a question

I’m watching the new season of the Great British Bake Off and one of the bakers has a sign language interpreter and it got me curious how different/similar ASL and BSL are to each other. Obviously they’re different languages but American spoken English and British spoken English are basically the same.

I know the alphabet for the two are very different which surprised me. Are ASL and BSL similar at all? Lots of shared words? Nothing alike?

The catacombs of Paris are never referred to as the catacombs of Montparnasse, so it's unlikely Hugo was making that reference. The cemetery, maybe, but it's also the name of the neighborhood that the cemetery is in, so he might been referring to that.

Ah, thank you! I wasn't quite sure if they were linked, and i'd only heard the cemetery referred to before. I can waste time looking up exact Brick quotes but i somehow neglect easy geography checks. Poop.
