So today, JV had a bball game today, i wanted to play too so i ask if i can play/ well i get to play. Apparently our school hosted a CFL game this weekend, a saturday, so we had to have three teams play. Storm, JV and Spartans played tonight. Storm got pieced, i came late, so i didnt get to see them play. I already knew they got wrecked cuz when i went in the locker room, there were kids from the other team ( Lets call them Maywood ), talking up so much shit. Worst part is , two or three from Storm ( the ones that got wrecked ), so oblviously they werent liking that. I noticed another boy from the Maywood team, kinda quiet, just doing his things. Eventually the other cocky, conceited boys left, and it was just me and him in the locker room. So i dont want any awkwardness so i said hi. He didnt even say hi back this is exactly what he said "Man, I don't like playing with this team." (Me) "Why not?" "Cause, when we win, all they do is talk, and be all cocky, i hate it"
That was freaking amazing, and like humbling. Racism, culture and assumptions make African Americans like, cocky, or this this that. And some proved to be of that "caliber". However, there was one boy, one boy who hated it, and showed GREAT disgust at it, even to the point of going to another where he might not win as much or maybe not at all. That to me is the epitome of humbleness and other things synonymous to it. Like im over here trying to find words to describe that moment where he was telling me how cocky they are, and how much shit they talk, and i cant find any words to describe it. He definitely is one of the realest people out there. Shoot, if this kid, can find humbleness in that situation, not a loss, but a blowout win, there is no excuse for cockiness. More people need to be like this kid. Seriously.
