Hi! I’m not sure if the check means request are open or not but I was wondering if I could request a Dogday x reader where the reader is “the angel” a symbolic and powerful figure (kinda like the avatar from atla) and Dogday is a prince getting ready to be crowned king. They just ended the war against the prototype and they just finished the parade in the crews honor. The reader is on the balcony and they look wonderful and they are staring out at the party down below and the starry sky up above then Dogday comes to check on them and they have a sweet romantic moment together and they talk about how weird it is that this war they’ve fought there whole lives is finally over and then they get interrupted by the rest of the crew coming to get them!
Anyway I hope it’s not too much to ask! Thank you so much!

Many years ago, war had plagued the land. There was no end in sight until today. You, a powerful figure of hope, had a part to play, and you played it well. You aided your allies until the very end. And now you were here. At a celebration thrown in your and your friend's honor. All of you relished in the praises and cheers, especially Dogday, who was to be crowned king. After that, your adventures together would come to an end.
Poppy noticed the shift on your face while you were lost in thought. She lightly nudged your leg and gave a comforting smile. You have a small smile before returning your attention to the people waving at them.
The celebration wasn't over just yet, and your town is known for throwing celebrations that lasted for weeks. Once you reached the final destination, the carriage came to a halt in front of the palace. You've been here a few times considering your relationship with Dogday, but it felt so surreal seeing it decorated in your honor.
Dogday helps you out of the carriage, and you both walk hand in hand up the stairs, Kissy and Poppy right behind you. As you enter the walls of the palace, suddenly everything feels suffocating, too loud, and too bright. Even during the celebratory banquet, you were so out of it, your anxiety and fears ate through you. If only the people could know their Angel too had their own problems.
“Excuse me, I'll be back.” You excused yourself, walking down the long, unfamiliar corridor. Each photo on the wall depicted a time in history of the Dogday's family reign. Generations upon generations of royalty ran through his blood, then there was you…
It didn't matter how much power or status you had. You didn't have the right blood streaming through your veins, and that made things difficult.
The guards opened the double doors to the balcony. Down below were screams and cheers of your name. Lifting your head up, you wave, only making the crowd grow more vigorous.
“There you are, my angel.” Dogday wraps his arms around you, earning awes from the crowd. You laugh, trying to squirm away from him, but his grasp on you was tight, possessive, and grounding. He was always your source of comfort, even during the most grueling of times.
“I just needed some air is all, my love,” you replied. The night was hot. Your forehead grew damp. Dogday takes out a handkerchief from his pocket and lightly dabs your forehead. You grow flustered.
“Sorry… I'm so gross.” You breathed. Dogday shakes his head. Once he was done drying you off, he folded and put his handkerchief back in his pocket.
“Oh, enough of that, my love. I could never be disgusted by you.” He takes your hand and twirls you around. “And look at how stunning you are! My gorgeous angel.” Dogday leans in, giving you a soft kiss on your lips. For a second, it felt like it was just the two of you, the sounds of cheer drowned out, and the only thing you could hear was how loud your heart was.
Dogday hesitantly pulls away, then looks up. You follow his gaze and turn your face towards the sky. The stars seemed to glow just a bit brighter tonight, maybe out of celebration?
“It's so weird,” you take his hand in yours. “The war against the prototype is over after so long… now you can be crowned king.” You swallow hard, knowing everything will change once he takes his pledge to his people. Dogday reassuringly squeezes your hand, his tail wagging, making his tail coat swish along with him.
“And you will be the monarch by the king's side, of course.” He goes in for another kiss. “GUYSSS!” Poppy and Kissy rush to where you're standing. “There you two are! Come on, it’s time to dance with the others!”
Poppy grabs you by the hem of your outfit and tries to pull you back into the palace with all her strength. You laugh, picking her up and placing her on your shoulder.
“No need to worry. We're coming, guys,” you affirmed. Just down below, the crowd began to grow rowdy again seeing the whole crew together. All of you wave before returning into the palace once more. You let out a heavy sigh once the doors close behind you.
“Are you alright now?” Poppy asks as you four return to the banquet hall. You smile and nod. “Yep, I just needed some fresh air.” You glance back at Dogday, he looks away, and a slight blush forms on his muzzle. Despite the battle scars and injuries, to him, you were more than just “the angel.” You were his angel, and that will never change.

The day started off like any other: wake up early to get your daughter, Hima, ready for school, then send her off with her father so he can drop her off. An arrangement you two agreed on.
You never knew when he’d receive that call, telling him there's a job he needs to help out with. Forcing you to spend months wondering when he'd return. Hima was much too young to understand why her dad left for months, and it broke your heart seeing her looking for him when he was gone.
For a while things were peaceful. He was home more, present more. Not thinking about statistics, security, or reciting lines for a character the bureau created for him. For a long while he was just Dogday, your husband.
He spoiled you both every chance he could, buying Hima whatever she wanted with the fat check he had gotten from the previous case he worked on. Bought you the clothes, jewelry, and new home decor you’ve been eyeing for months. It was perfect.
Then reality came crashing down faster than you expected.
One night while getting ready for bed, he comes up from behind you, wrapping his arms around you and peppering kisses on your cheek.
“Hey, Sunshine.” You giggled, trying to wiggle out of his grasp to change into your pajamas.
“Angel.” He said in a tone you were all too familiar with, the one that said, ‘I need to leave,’ a gentle cadence—comforting, yet still filling you with something that was hard to decipher.
“You’re leaving?” You ask, trying to keep your composure. You turn into his embrace, breathing in his scent. You knew what you were getting yourself into the day you discovered his profession, and although it was accidental, you still knew you wanted him.
“It’s a shorter case,” he says, cradling your face and peppering your tears with kisses, trying to make it better for the moment. He hated it too, being away from his family for God knows how long.
His ears and shoulders drop before he speaks. “This was personally assigned to me. I couldn't say no. I'm sorry, angel.”
He whispers. Pulling yourself away, you look to your closed door and then back to him. In a soft, broken voice, you ask.
“What about Hima? She'll be heartbroken again.”
“I told her I had a top secret mission and will bring her back some sweets.”
It was so silly you needed to laugh. It doesn't take much for her to be happy if sweets are involved.
“Aren't you afraid that one day she's going to blow your cover?”
“No, she's good at playing along and keeping it a secret. Don't be too surprised if we work together in the future.” His tail slowly wags. You couldn't help but let out a breathy laugh. His forehead gently meets yours. It was the hours prior that you cherished. They were all you had until he returned. Then the dreaded question came.
“W-when are you…”
“That’s not for you to stress over. Just rest.” He carries you to bed, tucking both of you in. He clung onto you like you were his lifeline. You and Hima were the reason he kept doing this, why he fought so hard to have a hand in making this world a little safer. If there was one thing he wanted Hima to remember when he was gone, it was the lengths he'd go to protect the innocent. In the morning, you woke up to an empty bed and a house that was a little too quiet.
Months of no contact went by. You've gotten a few letters here and there, but no phone calls, texts, or video chats yet. You thought it would’ve affected Hima the most, knowing her father would only communicate through occasional letters. It seemed to be eating away at you the most.
After work, you drove to Hima's school. You were late to pick her up. You felt terrible for leaving her alone for so long, the feeling gnawing away at you. Work kept you longer than expected.
“What do you mean not here?!” you yelled at the school attendant in charge of pickups. They never lost Hima before.
“Who picked up my daughter?” You say slowly, trying to hold your composure. Inside, you were two seconds from blowing a fuse. If Dogday were here, he’d have the school locked down in a matter of seconds. The woman raises the clipboard to her face, trembling as she tries to find Hima's name.
“I-it says she was picked up by her other emergency contact.” She shows you the signature. The shaky handwriting belonged to the old lady who lives across the street. She was more than happy to help watch Hima when you and Dogday had your hands full. Suddenly you’re relieved.
“Sorry for the confusion." You were a little embarrassed for causing a scene, but your mind was still on Hima. "Have a good day.” You drive as she waves you off. There was something in your gut telling you something wasn't right.
You drove home faster than you should have. Everything looked normal from the outside, but your lights were on, which was odd. Hima usually stood with the older woman at her house until you picked her up. Did she leave her alone?
Leaving the car, you carefully unlock your door and look around. Hima's laughter filled the air, drowning out the sound of her favorite show in the background. You run to her voice and see her being spun around by
“Dogday!”
“Nini’s home too!” Hima says. Dogday props her on his hip, opening an arm out and pulling you into a tight hug.
“Y-you’re home!”
“I told you I wouldn't be away for that long.” He kisses your cheek, then gives your lips a peck, before placing Hima down.
“Ew, stop!” She whines, trying her hardest to push Dogday away from you.
“Go play with the things I got you, little cherub.” Dogday nudges her to the pile of plushies and sweets in a foreign writing. She happily trots to the messy pile and plops down, grabbing the small orange dog plush that looked similar to her father.
You didn't realize just how much he brought back. Forget about being reunited with your husband. This man brought back an entire store for his daughter.
“Dogday.” You cross your arms. He already knew what he was in for.
“Angel, before you say anything else,” he nudges you towards your bedroom. “I got you something too.”
Opening the door, he eagerly pushes you in. On the bed were items you’ve had on your wishlist that you swore you kept hidden. There was no way he could've found out what you wanted.
“How did you—”
“I have my ways, angel.” He wraps a hand around you, giving it a squeeze, reminding you you were his and his alone.
You mutter something under your breath. Dogday perks up an ear, leaning down to hear you.
“What was that, my angel?”
You look away, but he caught a glimpse of your teary eyes.
“I’m so grateful that you chose me.” You muttered a little louder, Dogdays tail wags. To him it was the opposite. You walked into his life when he was drowning, you saved him, even selflessly gave him a family.
“Never say that again. It's the opposite, really. You gave me a chance, a new start at life, and I'll remind you of that always.” He kisses you like a depraved man. You know there will be a day when he’s retired, you're both at home while Hima's away starting her own life. But right now. This was all you wanted. Absence made the heart grow fonder after all.

It still felt odd, having the three with you at home. And honestly, you haven't been able to get much sleep. The things you’ve seen down there… It's been keeping you up at night. You see flashes of gore, the toys in the corner of your eyes, smell the blood, and hear the screams. It feels like nothing you do can make it go away.
After your goodnights to the three, you retreat to your room. You change, then slip under the covers, hoping to get some sleep, but tonight was just like the others. All you do is toss and turn instead, another vain attempt at slumber.
Keeping a brave face outside the factory feels even harder than it did when you were down there.
With a frustrated sigh, you uncover yourself and get out of bed. You maneuvered through the dark, trying to keep your footsteps light. The soft glow of your phone illuminating the path before you.
This was your routine every single night.
Get up, head to the living room, and stay awake, keeping your mind occupied with whatever you could find that was quiet enough that it wouldn't wake the toys.
Turning on the T.V and setting it at the lowest volume, you lay back, arms crossed, and watch whatever mindless slop was on at this time of night.
You thought you went unnoticed and unheard within the shadows.
“Angel.”
Oh, how wrong you were.
You flinch at Dogday hushed voice.
“Dogday?” You turn around. You stopped yourself from shrieking in terror, seeing him towering over you in the dark behind the couch. The glow of the TV made his features terrifying, and he knew. He hated how he was very aware of that.
Dogday carefully steps closer, hands up by his chest to show he means no harm.
He hated seeing you on edge.
“I'm sorry you-”
“Startled you?”
…
You could hear the hurt in his voice. There was a small sigh that came after, the kind you knew meant he tried to shrug it off.
“Didn't expect you to be there, is all. Come here!”
You pat the seat next to you. He hesitated for a second, then decided to indulge in your request.
As soon as he sits on the couch, you tense up. You weren't sure what to do. You stayed glued to your side, and so did he. Both of you just sat there in silence. Neither of you was paying too much attention to whatever was playing on the T.V.
“You don't sleep.”
Dogday breaks the silence first, turning his face to you.
Your shoulders drop with a sigh. You feign ignorance.
“I wasn't tired.”
“You're never tired, it seems.”
You tilt your head in his direction.
“What do you mean?”
Dogday crosses his arms, his long legs stretched out as he leans back into the cushion.
“I hear you at night. You toss and turn, then you come to the living room and spend the rest of your night here before heading back to your room and pretending to wake up when we do.”
There was a small pause. He waited for you to interject. But you remain silent.
“I see the tiredness in your eyes, in your movements, and in your voice. Sometimes you flinch around me… Around us. It worries me, Angel.”
Without meaning to, a tear runs down your cheek. The softer light from the T.V makes it sparkle. It was hard to miss now. Dogday reaches out and wipes it away. He knew he shouldn't touch you, especially in this state, but it pains him more not being able to comfort you. You tense, feeling his finger on your cheek. Hands that could easily kill you were gentle and warm despite what he's been through.
“It's been hard… after everything… I didn't realize you've been paying attention.”
He moves his hand away. You almost chased his touch. You hated how you reacted whenever he, Poppy, or Kissy would touch you. You trusted them, but your body didn't.
Dogday lets out a soft yawn; his ears raise and then fall. You let out a soft laugh. You were happy seeing him so free and comfortable.
“I apologize, Angel. I'm very tired but couldn't bear to see you suffer in silence anymore. I understand you don't want to crush the girls feelings, but they can see it too. You deserve your peace as well. I'm aware my presence isn't—”
“Isn't what?”
You sat up. Dogday didn't reply. You hated hearing the way he spoke about himself.
“Dogday, this form—your body wasn't your fault, and I'll never be disgusted by you. I want you here with me! I l—”
You quickly cut yourself off. Dogday stares at you. His head tilts to the side. You thought you upset him with your words. Until his shoulders started to shake as he covered his mouth, trying to hold back his laughter.
“Dogday shush!”
You playfully shove his shoulder, something you were afraid of doing before, yet here you were, sitting next to him and now, touching him.
“You almost said it.”
“No, I didn't.”
There was a small opening for you to do something you might regret later. You decide to take it. Carefully you move to Dogday's side, throwing an arm around his torso and leaning your head onto his shoulder. You remained there and didn't want to move.
Neither did he.
Slowly he moved his arms, wrapping them around you. You didn't flinch, didn't even tremble. It just felt right. Or maybe you were too tired to stay alert for much longer, allowing your walls to start crumbling one by one.
Then came the tears… You truly weren't expecting more, but your emotions had betrayed you. Dogday holds you closer as your body trembles.
You did your best to keep your sobs quiet. Dogday didn't care. He was happy you were here with him, letting everything you've bottled up within yourself out.
He'd already shed all the tears he needed. No one was there to comfort him, but now that he was here with you, he could hold you in his arms the way no one held him when he needed it.
“I'm sorry I—”
“Angel?” Dogday rubs circles on your arms. His furry hands were soft on your skin.
“Y-yes?”
He looks down at your glossy eyes in your mind. You were probably small and pathetic.
“I absolutely adore you. I hope you know that. You won't suffer alone for as long as you allow me to be here with you.”
He whispered.
You hadn't realized how those few words would've affected you.
“Dogday—”
He gently shushes you. You weren't in the proper state to form coherent sentences. He only wanted you to clear your mind and to let him in.
“There's no need to say anything. Just stay here with me and breathe.”
You weren't sure if it was the softness of his voice or the way his chest rumbled whenever he spoke. But it was oddly soothing… You begin to hiccup as your tears slowly subside. Your eyes grow heavy with each breath you take.
Until your eyes close.
Opening them, you find yourself back in your bed. You can see Dogday huge form moving in the dark.
“Dogday!” You whispered, His shadow stops by the doorway.
“Yes, my Angel?”
“… Stay with me.”
There was a moment of hesitancy. Until his heavy footsteps he tried to soften grew closer, and then the bed dipped deeply as he sat on it.
“I’m going to break your bed, angel…”
You paused, then smirked.
“It was going to happen eventually.”
You say, pulling him down to the bed, which surprisingly held his weight. You wrap yourself around him.
“What... do you mean by that?”
He turns to you despite not being able to see you. You didn't respond to him, but he could hear the way your breathing slowed as your body relaxed next to his.
Dogday smiles, knowing how he was the one who was able to comfort you to the point of true slumber.
Your hand slowly slips from his chest, but Dogday was quick to catch it, gently placing it back to his heart, right where it belonged.
And just as he was drifting off to sleep himself.
“I love you too.”
You muttered. Which only made Dogday hold you closer. And for once, you were able to get a full night's rest.
