For the first time in over a year I had enough energy to lift up my arms for ten minutes of violin practice.
It's a small win, but still a win nonetheless!

Learning a new instrument and practicing is actually soul crushing.
I know I have to practice daily, or at least every other day to get better at my instrument. Between Uni, studying, work, more studying, decompressing, rinse, wash, and repeat, it feels impossible to designate time to practice so I don’t feel like crap every time I do practice because I’m not getting better.
It's okay to quit your hobby.
If you pick up and abandon a new hobby that doesn't mean it was a waste of time. If you start learning a new language and give up you still know more about the world than when you started. Maybe you forgot how to play that song on piano but you still understand music a little better for trying.
The goal of learning something new shouldn't ALWAYS be to have a lifelong skill and to be the best. Not everything will speak to you. The goal should be to learn something about yourself and the world around you.

People assume that because I play an instrument, I know the names of the pieces I'm playing. No, mate, I'll rock up to a lesson and be like "so do you want to hear Death Arpeggios or BTEC Harry Potter" and my teacher will be like "Are you still practicing the Drunk Gods". There are no names, only vibes.
