My language learning goals for 2025

Doing a list of goals for my language studies helped me a lot last year, so i want to continue doing that this year.

I've tried to set more realistic goals this year and put some of them in parentheses to show that they're optional goals.

So here they are, wish me luck!

Swedish 🇸🇪 (B1/B2)

Read at least 1 (more advanced) book in Swedish ✅️

Study my Swedish vocab lists (until i've looked at every vocab word at least once)

Continue the exercise book i've worked with before (preferably by joining a class again) OR find another exercise book that allows for self-learning ✅️

Find at least 3 Swedish Punk/Ska/etc. bands to add to my playlists

(Buy the additional advanced vocab words from the online programme i'm using)

French 🇫🇷 (B1)

Continue the Busuu French course & reach level B1

Study my French vocab lists (until i've looked at every vocab word at least once)

Start the French exercise book on grammar & verbs

Find at least 3 French-speaking Youtubers for regular listening comprehension practice ✅️

Read at least 1 book in French

Czech 🇨🇿 (A1)

Read 1 (very simple) children's book in Czech (e.g. Hungry Caterpillar, Krtek)

Join the follow-up course of my Czech class (only if i'm able to money-wise and time-wise) ✅

Continue/finish the exercise book Čeština expres A1/1 ✅️

Study my Czech vocab lists (until i've looked at every vocab word at least once)

Dutch 🇳🇱 (beginner)

Finish level A2 on Busuu

Find a good exercise book for self-learners (and/or a language course)

Study my Dutch vocab lists (until i've looked at every vocab word at least once)

(Buy the vocab course from the online programme i'm using)

Snažím se učit česky a zajímalo by mě, jestli někdo nemá nějaké dobré zdroje, jak to udělat? Bohužel si teď nemůžu dovolit platit za kurzy jazyků. Pořád se ale chci naučit česky, abych se sblížil se svou rodinou a jejich kulturou.

🇺🇸: I am attempting to learn Czech and I was wondering if anyone had any good resources for it? I cannot pay for language learning classes right now sadly. But I still want to learn Czech to get closer to my family and their culture.

A while ago I talked to my polyglot friend, who's currently learning Czech, and he asked me for some easy reading materials. As I have offspring and thus my home is overflowing with kids books, it was pretty easy to find something suitable for, say, A1-A2 learners.

Since I've seen a lot of Czech learners on this site, I realized I could share with more people!

1 which case(s) do you like the most and least?

2 did you learn the cases all at once or one at a time?

3 what sounds other than the obvious (Ř) are hard for you and what is your first language?

4 what is your mentality around czech, what keeps you going and learning?

5 what is the last goal/milestone you reached and how did it make you feel?

lastly.... where are you all at??? i dont find many other czech learning langblrs that often.

The first aid competition, I've been studying for the last couple of weeks, is on this weekend, so I started to pack my suitcase today. We'll leave tomorrow afternoon and arrive sometime in the evening. The theory part will be on Saturday (wish me luck). The competition is in Leipzig (pretty cool city) and I'm looking forward to the weekend because at the same time I can have fun with my friends from our team. I hope all the studying will pay off!
