Hi surfers! Do you remember the first time you went surfing? Here's my comic about how it went for me.

I'm posting comics on Fridays about learning to surf in Santa Cruz, California. Some comics are longer like this one, others are a few panels. I'm slowly figuring out surfing and story telling as I go. I'm really stoked to share my journey with you so I hope you'll follow along!

Happy Friday Surfers! Can you relate to this? I feel like being in the right position is the best cure for low wave count. My shrimpy arms agree (though I'm SO much better at paddling now than when I first started and was pretty sure I'd die out there).

Another week already! I should do a comic about how NOT to carry your board too. I've seen some surf school folks using, um, unconventional techniques recently.

I did my first dawn patrols of the year this week. Two in a row! That second one was a lot harder than the first. I was so pooped at work all day but so what. It's awesome to be in the water at 6 in the morning, even if you're dead by 9 PM.

Are you a before work or after work surfer? Let's all quit our jobs and surf any time.

So sad but so true. I know that some day I'll be pretty good at surfing, but every time I surf it turns out that day is not today.

It's still fun to do things you're mediocre at doing! That's today's real lesson. Also that the otters are absolutely judging us and talking sh*t behind our backs.
