Finding my own stride.
So after my all too regular crumbling of willpower and determination for the latter half of last year, leading to a steady gain on weight again that finally got curbed at the start of the month. I decided this time I was going to have a go doing things my own way. Over the last few years I’ve had the good fortune to cross paths with a great variety of people who have all been kind enough to impart advice. Obviously the viewpoints of power lifters, ultra marathon runners, body builders, some fantastic slimming world consultants, cross fit coaches, avid followers of shake based diets, veggies and vegans are not all going to be mutually complementary. But every single one of them has said things to me that just made sense. Add to the mix a reintroduction to exercise. A path all of its own that’s gone from being referred by my GP to fairly sedate classes at the start. To me pushing myself to my limits and doing 3 months of fairly intense and heavy workouts with a PT I’d say I’ve been given a good set of fundamentals there to work off too.
So here we are at the end of January. 20lb lighter. Going to the gym a couple of times a week and I’ve joined a running group. Where I may eventually get beyond the beginners walk to run group. Got at least the same weight again to shift before I’m back on level ground and onwards from there. But mindset feels right now. Just gotta maintain that focus. A lot of that is surrounding yourself with people who can and will support you. And in that respect I’d say I’m luckier than most.
