I thought I’d share an easy cleaning trick for leather bracelets, bc a few years ago I struggled with sweating under it and then after a while the bracelet would stink and I couldn’t wear it anymore.

My mom came to the rescue with an easy and cheap solution, mix baking soda with some water to make a sort of paste, put it on the inside of the bracelet and leave it overnight. Then rinse it off and it won’t smell anymore.

This works on real and fake leather!! With real leather I recommend putting something hydrating on it like leather conditioner or even olive oil bc it will kinda dry out and it will last longer when you do that

Best way to break in and maintain leather boots as someone who has never owned a pair of real leather boots before now?

hopefully you're working with a veg/oil tan, which takes a shoe grease really well. you can apply this periodically to soften the leather and help them conform to your feet over time. hi-shines and suede, etc. have their respective conditioners that may work just as well.

i've always just worn them for extended periods of time with THICK socks (preferably wool) and applied proper foot care if i get injured in the process (blisters, etc.) i've heard tale of people using hairdryers to warm them (lol?), crushing/massaging it with their hands (no...) and even getting them wet on purpose (ew!) ... but, ultimately, you want the leather to shape to your foot naturally for the best fit, so wearing it is going to be your best bet.

i know you get a lot of random asks asking for advice but. Do you have any tips for leather boot care? I oiled mine once a few months ago and I have no idea how often to oil them. The Internet is full of contradicting and vague advice

Get ready for some vague contradictory advice! I oil mine when they look dry. I do a damp paper towel to wipe the boots off then spread a beef tallow oil on them. I’ve tried other oil conditioners and honestly this is the best. Then I just let it soak and call it good. My boots are nearing eight so I think it’s going alright.

I got the oil off a weird religiousy website but sadly they no longer seem to carry it. That said of the leather conditioners I’ve used the ones with animal fat have been the absolute best results.

My beloved got me a leather kindle case that shipped with a tiny honey scented animal fat conditioner to keep the case in good shape. I am going to be so sad when it runs out, it smells so nice and the shop doesn’t sell it on its own.

Edit: I found the one I use! They have an orange-vanilla scent too but I haven’t smelled it. The unscented one is truly no smell and works amazing.
