„Alright. Library card, bag and your books, Ian. Have a nice day and happy reading!“, you smiled at Ian Lightfoot. He was a very friendly kid and, most importantly, a regular - plus a good friend of yours. Before his sixteenth birthday, he was always here - like nearly every day - reading books about mourning, science and socializing. When you weren’t here for a shift (a couple of hours a week) you were a regular yourself, studying for your classes at the community college. Your favorite courses were about creative writing and photography, your least favorite courses were about accounting and statistics. ‚It’s what pays the bills’, you could hear and see your grandpa, pointing his finger at you. Since Ian had turned sixteen and became a wizard, he was still frequently visiting the library, but his book taste changed as well as his behavior. He was more open, communicating a lot and surrounded by his friends from science class quite frequently. You were happy for him.
From your sitting perspective, behind the library counter, your view almost fully blocked. The high tower of books between the both of you build a wall. It was quite the collection, all about ancient magic, magical history, spells and, interestingly, quests.
„There you are!“, a rumbling voice appeared in the hall of your work place: „Let me lend you a hand, and…“, a boisterous even taller elf (no regular) was now standing next to your recent customer. He was looking at, yes, what exactly?
„And?“, Ian asked. Nothing.
„Barley?“, he tried again, but those green eyes were still focused on… the books?
„Eh… hi?!“, his voice was a little softer now, less booming, a little raspier than before. Wait a sec. Was he looking at you? You could feel the heat of your blushing cheeks.
„Hi“, you whispered, clearing your throat, a second „Hi“, a little louder now, followed. Ian rolled his eyes, sighing, but with a smile: „I am sorry, Y/N, my brother is…“, he looked up at him: „…sometimes awkward.“, he chuckled softy. It worked.
„Hey!“, Barley Lightfoot defrosted, instantly, from his staring at, well, you and shoved his younger sibling a little to the side.
„Don’t embarrass me“, he hissed, you tried to stiffen a laugh, due to their familial banter.
„Oh? I am embarrassing you, huh?“, the boys were moving quickly in-front of your counter: „Wahait, noho!“
In the end, Barley had Ian locked with his arms, his feet were dangling in the air, those books stored in the library-merch bag and, with a wide smile and wiggling eyebrows, he said: „See ya next time!“
„Baharley, lehet me down!“
„Nope. Never!“, he plopped the p and dragged the „er“. You were still sitting behind your desk, shaking your head in slight disbelief. What had just happened?!
That incident was a couple of weeks ago now, but a lot of things have changed since Barley’s first appearance at the library. He returned, to pick up Ian, every single time - sometimes waving his hand at you from afar, when you were busy behind the counter, sometimes leaning on the edge of your desk, when you were „off-duty“ - those were the little moments, he chose to constantly flirt with you. Barley wasn’t shy at all - he wasn’t afraid of anything. That’s what he told you. That’s what Ian told you, with a little smirk: „But he actually is afraid of something.“
„Aha?“, you were reading a specific sentence again and again, since Ian had started a conversation about his older brother. You tried to hide your blushing cheeks behind the pages.
„Listen to me“, Ian poked you into your side.
„Whahey!“, you giggled. Another poke. The book was on your lab now, while you were holding up your hands: „Okay, okay. I listen.“
„My big brother is afraid of something.“
„Interesting. And what is that?“, a now familiar voice asked, right behind your backs.
You leaned your head back, to look up at Barley, meanwhile, Ian tried to get up and away, but his older sibling pushed him back onto his chair, both hands on either side of his shoulders: „Enlighten me. What am I afraid of?“
„Nothing. Nothing at all.“, Ian squeaked.
„That’s what I thought.“, the older one hummed, gently slapping his shoulders: „Ready to leave?“
„Yes!“, Ian and you answered unison.
„Perfect!“
You’d spend more and more time in Barleys van, Guinevere II, with the two chaotic Lightfoot-siblings. When you finally met their mom, you’d fallen so hard for this family. You adored their stepdad too. Officer Bronco was a little clumsy, a little too loud, but he loved his wife and her sons dearly. He reminded you of your grandpa Pops. You’ve grown up as an only-child in his house. You couldn’t remember your parents. Pops was your entire family. You loved him dearly, but you enjoyed the loud loving chaos of the Lightfoot-household.
„Barley“, his mom hissed somewhere in the kitchen, while you tried to laugh, genuinely, at officer bronco’s joke - Ian was making fun of it behind him.
„What, mom?“, her older son hissed back.
„Get a move on“, she laughed. You blushed, gnawing at your lower lip.
„Moohooom!“, he whined. Ian looked at you, nodding: „See? He’s afraid to date you.“ whispering. You blushed. That’s not it, right?
„So, we’re off now“, Laurel said, standing next to the entry door, wearing an elegant jumpsuit.
„You look nice, Ma!“, Ian said in awe. Barley whistled.
„Oh shush, you two!“, their mother laughed, waving at her second-husband: „Let’s go“.
„It’s true! You look rahavishing“, Bronco neighed. She smiled, blushing.
„Enough of that! Oh and Y/N?“
„Yes?“, you were still a little paralyzed by Ian’s words.
„Thanks for babysitting!“, Laurel said.
„What?!“, Ian gasped.
„Oh, not you. At least, not in the first place.“
„WHAT?!“, Barley growled.
Laurel giggled: „Oh, I am just glad someone else keeps an eye on“, she smiled: „Blazey“, but when the two boys sighed an „OH“ unison, she winked at you real quick.
They left, to celebrate their anniversary, while you stayed with the Lightfoot-boys over at their place. Blazey, the pet dragon, was snoring at one of their favorite spots right next to the TV.
Barley announced: „It’s quest time“, and dived under the couch, to grab a certain board game. Ian, still standing in the middle of the room, winked at you and announced: „No quest solving for me today“ and with that, he ran around the sofa, up the stairs, into his room. He had other plans today.
„What? Ouch!“, Barley had bumped his head, still under the couch.
„He’s gone“, you said, lifting your feet onto the sofa, snuggling into one of the corners, surrounded by pretty cushions.
„But…“, Barley’s face popped up: „it’s not a game for two.“ You looked up at the ceiling, when you heard Ian’s soft laughter: „I think he has a crush on someone from his science group.“, you chuckled.
„Is that so?“, Barley was still gazing at you, softly, with a crooked smile on his lips.
„Ah-ha, yes.“, you whispered.
„What about you?“
„What… about me?“
„Do you have a crush?“, you gulped - your cheeks were blushing in no-time: „I… eh…“
„Yes?“
„Maybe?“, you narrowed your eyes, chewing on your bottom lip again until Barley’s thumb softly pulled at it gently, freeing that lip from your teeth.
„Is it someone from college?“
„No?“
„A colleague?“
„No?“
Every time you answered with „No“, you could feel his breath and warmth more and more, the blue elf was leaning towards you.
„A neighbor?“
„Noho?“, you giggled, because your neighbors were nice but in Pop’s age. Nothing you fancied. Actually, you were one year younger than Barley with his 19 years of age and quest-wisdom
„A friend?“, his nose touched yours now. You looked up, stiffening, surprised by his gentle look at you.
„Yes?“
„Who?“, he was kneeling right in front of you, his hands on each side of your legs now.
„A Lightfoot“
„Ian?“, he frowned.
„Noho, silly.“, you giggled, shaking your head a little, so the tip of your nose caressed over his own: „It’s you!“
Barley sighed, gasped, smiled and cheered: „YEHES!“
And with lightning speed, he lifted his upper body onto the couch to, well, kiss you eventually. You giggled, delighted and surprised against his lips. After a while, the both of you had turned and tossed yourselves around, you have found a comfortable position. You were both lying on your sides, your back pressed against the back of the couch, while Barley’s arms were wrapped around you, your own all around his neck. You were still kissing when Ian rushed down the stairs: „HEY!“, your own eyes opened immediately but Barley kept his closed, still kissing you. Ian gasped: „What’s going on here?“
You could hear his smirk - the one he shared with his older brother. Barley, eyes open now, looked over your shoulder, where Ian stood - smirking and lurking: „Go away.“
„Get a room.“, Ian laughed.
„Go away!“, Barley growled, against your lips. You giggled in his embrace, not really sure about what might happen next.
„By the way, I am going to tell mom ALL about it.“
„You won’t!“, another growl, lower, more dangerous now.
„Oh, I will.“
Barley looked at you, one eyebrow up, smirking: „Sorry. Big brother duties.“, he whispered. He kissed you, one last time. A second later, you could hear Ians soft laughter, his speedy steps on the stairs, the booming laughter and the heavier steps of his brother right behind him. You giggled, when you heard Ian squeak and laugh, Barley’s muffled voice followed. You were way too curious, to just stay here on the sofa. So, you went up the stairs of the two-story mushroom house. The wood creaked under your foot, when you got up another step. Suddenly, little footsteps were hurrying through the ground floor - Blazey showed up, wiggling through your legs while he ran upstairs. A moment later, Ian shrieked: „Blahazey, don’t!“
You sneaked further upstairs, localizing the brotherly play-fight. You stopped your movements, leaning against Barley’s doorframe, to watch those two. Barley, using all his physical superiority, had Ian on his back, underneath him, wiggling on the floor. You looked at them, looked at his room - it was messy but also lively with all the posters, board games, the console and little warrior-figures on the desk, the floor, everywhere. Blazey sneaked between them, every now and then, happy to be a part of the action. He licked over Ian’s face, who giggled again: „Noho, Blazey. Get him! Not me!“, just to squeak afterwards: „Get ohoff of me.“, at his older brother. Barley squeezed the sides of the younger one rapidly, knowing all the weak spots of his sibling, with a wide, wolfish grin on his face: „You know, you deserve this.“
„Nohooho“, the tall yet slender Ian squealed, wiggling underneath the teasing hands of his brother, who had just started a sneak attack on his ribs. When Ian shrieked and laughed because of that, you couldn’t help yourself, a giggle escaped your own lips. Both heads turned around, facing the door and you now. Barley grinned, while his fingers were still all over his younger brother’s weak spots. Ian with red cheeks, gasped: „Pleheease, help me.“, while Blazey thought it would be awesome to lick over his face again. Barley wiggled his eyebrows up and down: „No, help me!“
„That’s your fight, boys.“, you giggled: „I am sorry, Ian. And Barley? Keep him alive, okay? I don’t wanna get arrested for bad babysitter-qualities, just because one brother tickled the other one to death.“
„HEHEY!“, Ian shrieked.
Barley growled: „Whahat?“, looking at his younger brother underneath him, his fingers stopped moving. Your crush was strong, yet gentle, kind and playful. You’ve had silently fallen in love with these qualities, but today was the day you learned to fear them. He was quick though. You didn’t even reach the stairs, when his strong arms wrapped around your torso, lifting you up, to carry you to his bed.
„Baharley!“, you squealed, wiggling in his embrace, your feet were in the air, dangling around. You got a glimpse of Ian, still giggling, rosy cheeks and a hand on his tummy, while he looked at you.
„Ian, pleahease. Help me.“
„Nope.“, the p plopped: „You didn’t help me either.“
„That’s true.“, Barley laughed, tousling his little brother’s hair.
With an unexpected „oomph“, your body landed on the bouncing mattress, right next to the older Lightfoot. You tried to crawl away, but Barley was all over you in an instant: „Nowhere to go, hun.“, he whispered, his gaze was glistening with amusement and pure playful joy: „Iaaaaaan“, you screeched again, maybe your friend would help you now?
„No, that’s your fight, lovebirds“, and with that? He left. Blazey was looking at you, his tail wiggled against the bed frame. Bang. Bang.
„Any last words?“ You were flat on your back, giggling on the cozy duvet and underneath your date. He immobilized you: your wrists were stuck between your chests, his legs were on top of yours, and he was holding his own body up on one arm, bend next to yours. It was like a one-sided push-up, without the movement. His hair wasn’t as curly as Ians, but it had the same blue tone, falling loosely around his face. His smile grew wider. Gosh, you just wanted to kiss him, caress his hair and look at him all night long. How could an elf be this beautiful? How could you be so lucky?
„Baharley, please. Can’t we just… kiss again?“, you cooed, tilting your head a little sideways.
„Nope.“ (Who of them started this plopping p, huh?)
„Please?“
„Later, hun.“, his eyebrows wiggled up and down again: „I have to check something first.“
„Dohon’t mess with me. I am not even ticklish!“
„Oh-ho! I don’t believe you. Because…“, he lowered his right hand, free to rule over your body, close to your waist now: „Ian poked you right“ - poke - „here at the library.“ You tensed underneath his body and touch.
„Uh-uh!“, you giggled, already blushing and flustered.
„Oh yes“, he whispered, low and with a mocking tone. His fingertips were caressing over your side now, up and down, from hips to ribs. It was oh so teasingly slow but tormenting at the same time. You shook your head a little, trying to block his tingling touches. Soft yet knowing movements followed your body, all over your waist and side, tummy and ribs. His fingertips were hitting every nerve of your skin very precise, constantly.
„Hohow?“, you squealed again.
„I am a big brother. I have a lot of experience as a tickle monster. I am very skilled.“, he chuckled, when you rolled your eyes at him, giggling. After what felt like ages, his fingertips stopped to caress over the thin fabric of your shirt. He smiled down at you, caressing over your hair a couple of times: „You’re beautiful“, he whispered.
„I aham not. I have a red face and I am sweaty.“, you weren’t good at taking compliments, at all.
„Hun? If I say you’re beautiful, you have to believe me. Okay? Because you are!“, he replied softly, his boisterous voice low and raspy. You shook your head, and shrieked, when Barley’s arm wormed itself underneath your back, just to turn both of you around, you were now on top of his huge, soft body, his arms wrapped around you. His grip was tight, but gentle. He leaned up a little, kissing your nose, your cheek, your other cheek, your lips and, suddenly, he kissed your neck. An alarmed jolt rushed through your body. His stubble was scratching lightly over your sensitive skin, along with his soft lips - a double tease.
„Noho, Baharley, please“, you squealed, trying to wiggle free but his embrace kept you in your spot on top of his torso. You couldn’t get away, you couldn’t cover your neck with your shoulders. All you could do? Laugh your head off, while a certain blue elf enjoyed to tease you. Another eternity later, Barley let go of you because you accepted his compliment, finally: „Baharley, okay, okay. I agree. I am beautiful.“
„See? Not so difficult, huh?“, he giggled, genuinely. After that? You both cuddled again, limbs entangled and lips on lips.
„Please, let me go now.“
„Nope!“, he chuckled, while you tried to escape his embrace and kisses.
"I have to pee!“
„Not my problem.“
„But it’s yohour bed.“
„True“, he laughed, when you ran away.
„Kssssst“
Nothing.
„Ksssssssssst“, you hissed: „Iaaaaaaan“
„Huh? Oh! Hey!“, your library pal was on the couch, reading: „What’s up?“, he looked up at you while you looked down at him, crouched, from the top level of the stairs: „Ian, please…“, you whispered: „Your brother is ticklish somewhere, right?“
„Oh“, he laughed: „Yeah. It’s hard to get him. He is a natural at blocking it. And strong“
You nodded, whispering: „So strong“
„Try his feet“, the younger Lightfoot suggested: „But be warned. He might kick. And his revenge will be epic.“
„Try his lower back.“, a female voice suggested: „or his knees.“
„Oh, hi Laurel“, you whispered, blushing. Gosh, that was embarrassing.
„How was your anniversary dinner?“
„Delicious. Now go, get him“, she chuckled, officer Bronco neighed and Ian was already with his eyes and mind in his novel. A couple minutes later, all three heads looked up at the ceiling, grinning. Barley’s booming laughter was audible, next to your own soft giggles.
„Yes!“, Ian and their mom cheered. You fought, you were brave - and you lost, in the end. But you were a quick learner. There would be always a next opportunity to get him, another quest to discover a new weak spot.
Summary: Ian is practicing a spell and things go very wrong, or is it very right? His older brother is more than happy to help but did Ian get more than he bargained for?

Author’s notes: I want to thank so many people for helping me with different parts of my writing process for this fic such as @amazingmsme and @rachi-roo and so many others. It’s been a long time coming. But I finally did it. Enough of me talking. Here it is.
Barley woke up to the sound of someone giggling. He squirmed in his sleep wanting at least a few more minutes before he had to get up. He had been up late last night playing Quests of Yore. The giggling continued and he was starting to get a little annoyed. Although he couldn't help the smile that had been on his lips. He frowned and started opening his eyes. It was then that he realized that he was the one who was giggling. There on-top of his legs was Blazey but something seemed off about her. Barley tried to shake the dragon off but it was no use, she was stuck to him like glue, and really tickling his bare feet. How? He couldn't quite tell, and he couldn't see over the dragon but it was starting to drive him crazy. And since he was fully awake Blazey seemed to go even harder. In his attempt to shake her off. He fell off his bed with a crash laughing hysterically. It was only a moment later and Ian raced into the room. He stood with his staff at the ready. But stopped frozen when he saw the sight. A grin slipping onto his face.
"Hey Bear." Ian said teasingly.
"Hahaahi!" Was the response. "HEHELP!" Ian shook his head and giggled. "IAN!" The older brother cried.
"Okay, okay!" He laughed, poking at Blazey's side with the tip of the staff. The dragon didn't budge. Just kept tickling. Now getting between Barley's toes causing him to holler louder and bang his fists against the floor.
"IAHAAAAHAAHAAAN!"
"I'm trying!" Ian kept poking up along Blazey's side. "C'mon Blazey, let Bear go. Please."
"GRAAHAHAAAB HEHEHEEHER!" Ian took a step back.
"I can't! I'm sorry!" Suddenly Ian turned and left the room in a hurry. Poor Barley was left all on his own.
Barley had had just about enough when his younger brother came back with the dragon's favorite treats. Sniffing the air Blazey turned her head still tickling Barley's feet but having lightened up. "that's a girl. C'mon now." Ian slowly backed out of the room and Blazey with a few final tickles left Barley to recuperate and go eat her real snack happily.
It didn't take long for Ian to rush into the room and close the door. Leaning up against it. "Hey Barley. You okay?" He asked with a huge grin but his tone was caring. Barley having caught his breath from the previous events nodded his head, getting up and walking over to his brother giving him a huge bear hug.
"I'm great, thanks to you." He took a step back eyeing his brother up and down. "Blazey seems particularly cuddly this morning. Anything you would like to share?" Ian's face started to turn darker.
"Ummm, well." He stuttered not quite looking his brother in the eye. Barley sat down in front of Ian and looked up at him, waiting patiently. The teen sighed. "I was practicing my magic and I guess something went wrong and it hit Blazey and now she's acting all funny."
"I see. And what spell were you practicing?" He asked curiously. Ian shifted and turned almost as if to walk out the door. "Hey, just where do you think you're going?" Barley said with a grin grabbing onto Ian's arm and pulling him into his lap. Ian struggled a little but soon settled down. "I think I was asking you a question?"
"Ummm, I was uhhhh. Practicing...." He started. His ears and cheeks turning a deep purple.
"You know you can tell me anything right? I won't judge you. I'm just trying to help you!" The older of the two hugged Ian close. Hoping to comfort him and ease some of the awkwardness and embarrassment Ian seemed to be experiencing.
"Ya, I know. It's just I." He took a breath and started speaking quickly. "I found a spell to create a tickle monster and I guess I thought it might be fun, besides maybe it could come in handy, right? So when I said the spell went wrong I think it actually went right. It turned Blazey into a tickle monster but I don't know how to control her or how to turn her back." Barley listened closely to it all trying his best to keep up.
"Let's see if I have this right. You turned Blazey into a tickle monster and you don't know how to get her back." Barley thought for a moment just sitting and cuddling with Ian. "Where'd you find this spell?" Ian squirmed out of his brothers grasp. And got himself mentally ready as he opened the door. There were sounds of Ian's feet running as fast as he could. Suddenly he heard a squeal and more running. This time more feet too. Ian suddenly burst in and slammed the door behind him. In his hands were his staff and a book.
"This one. I found it in the back corner of the library." He handed it to Barley. The older boy took it and started flipping through it.
"I haven't seen one like this in years! I thought they were all gone! Good find Brother!" Barley grinned and patted his brother on the back. "let's see." He looked through some of the spells then getting to the page Ian must've found he read though it. "okay. So why did you ask for a tickle monster?" Barley asked casually as he continued reading the page. When Ian didn't say anything Barley looked up. "Ian?" Ian was standing there fiddling with the end of his staff and his cheeks a deeper purple than Barley had ever seen. "Ian?" Barley said again, placing the book down. Getting up and walking over to him. "What is it?" Ian stayed silent. Hyper focused on his staff.
"Because I wanted it." He mumbled so quiet Barley almost couldn't tell he had been speaking.
"you'll need to speak up little one." Barley put a reassuring hand on Ian's back.
"Because I wanted it!" Ian said again, a little louder.
"Wanted what?" Barley was trying to understand but he just couldn't seem to grasp on. Suddenly one of Ian's hands collided with Barley's ribs and he gave a couple squeezes before squeaking and running and jumping onto Barley's bed burying his face into the pillows. Barley let out a yelp as his ribs were squeezed then stared after Ian before it finally dawned on him. "Ohhh, I see." He walked over and sat on the bed beside Ian. "You just wanted to be tickled!" Barley's heart was practically melting as he reached a hand and wiggled his fingers lightly into his brothers ribs. Ian burst into giggles and shifted away.
"Baahaaahaarley!" Was the muffled reply.
"If that's what you wanted, why didn't you just say so? You don't need a spell for a tickle monster." He chuckled.
"I caahaaaahaan't just saahaay! Besides, this waahaahaas easier!"
"Was it now?" Barley wrapped his big hands around Ian's rib cage and lifted him toward himself his fingers digging lightly into the ticklish ribs. Ian was squirming and giggling like mad.
"Yeeheeeheees!"
"Well I wonder if you'll change your mind when I tell you you can't put Blazey back into a normal dragon until she's fulfilled her tickling desires. And her tickling desires will be whatever you wanted the tickle monster for when she was created."
"What? Noohooo!"
"Oh yes brother. Only then will the spell work to bring her back." Barley stopped his little attack on his wizard brother. And just hugged him tightly giving him a kiss on his cheek. Ian caught his breath quickly and turned in Barley's lap hugging him back, hiding his face in his brothers neck. Barley chuckled "Alright. Well we should go get this done before mom comes home and she gets attacked. Ian hopped off Barley's lap.
"Okay." He said shyly. Barley's smile was huge. He had the cutest and best brother in the world. They walked out and looked for their friendly tickle monster. They found her in Ian's bed looking smug as they walked into the room. Ian gulped and blushed.
"Don't worry. I won't let her take it too far. You just have fun." The smirk on Barley's face was sweet and a little devious. Ian turned to run away but Barley grabbed onto him. Looking at Ian's face. Seeing the panic but pure excitement Barley winked. "You're not going anywhere until we all get what we want." He said so teasingly and looked at Blazey who locked eyes with Barley and she got down off the bed pouncing on Ian's back.
Now Barley could see what she looked like. It was Blazey but with 4 extra arms. Two on each side between her front and back legs. These arms had furry hands that had retractable claws. And Blazey's tail had a bright. Very fluffy feather on the end. Barley held onto Ian's arms keeping them away from his sides while Blazey was on his back and had two hands squeezing up and down Ian's side as the other two were squeezing his hips. The feather tail was fluttering all around his neck. Ian would've dropped to the ground if Barley wasn't holding him up. He was shaking his head and kicking his legs. Curling them up to his chest and screaming in happy laughter. Barley hadn't heard or seen anything sweeter than the happy face and laughter of his brother.
"Is she good at tickling?" Barley teased. Moving his hands down his arms to wiggle his thumbs into the hollows.
"YEEHEEHEEEEHEES!"
"You having fuuuuuun?" A slight pause as a scream ripped out. The hands latching onto the backs of the teens thighs.
"YEEEHEEHEEEEHEEEEEES!"
"Good. Because we are too!" Barley laughed along with his younger brother. Turning him around and sitting with him on the floor, placing Ian in front of him. His big hands vibrated into Ian's tummy and sides. While Blazey sat on Ian's out stretched legs and wiggled a furry paw in between the toes and one nail dragged up and down the sole of his other foot. Ian had his head tilted back, resting on Barley's shoulder as he screeched and squealed, laughing hysterically. He could barely squirm. "Awww, poor ticklish Ian." This tickling lasted for a few more minutes before both tickle monsters could sense that Ian was reaching the end. They started to slow down. And Ian's laughter turned to giggles.
"Thanks." Ian managed to whisper
"Hold on. We're not done quuuuuite yet." Ian tried to turn and look at his brother. The two tickle monsters locked eyes and they knew. Barley using both hands scooped Ian up so he was laying on his back across his arms. Then suddenly lifting the teens shirt Barley dropped his face and blew a huge raspberry while Blazey clung to Ian's legs and licked all over Ian's twitching feet. Ian screamed and flailed his arms. A couple more raspberries and licks later and Barley put his brother down. Just holding him gently as he recovered. Blazey sat beside and watched with what looked like a grin. "Happy now brother?"
"Yes. Are you?" Was the quiet response.
"Very." They sat together just resting for about half an hour before Ian started squirming.
"Now we can get Blazey back?" He asked getting out of the hug.
"You sure you want her back?" He teased, pinching Ian's side.
"Yeehes!" Ian squeaked and jumped out of the way.
"Alright. Go get your staff. I'll help you." Ian ran off and grabbed his staff from Barley's room. He came back and the two brothers performed the spell. It worked like a charm and soon they had a happy normal pet dragon again.
"Hey Ian. You know that if you ever want to be tickled all you have to do is come ask." Ian looked at his brother shyly.
"I know. I didn't want to bother you and it's...."
"Adorable." Barley finished for him. "and you're never a bother. Ever. You got that? I love you!" Ian jumped into the outstretched arms. "and I love tickling you and making you happy. That is my job by the way." Barley chuckled as he wiggled his fingers into Ian's side. Ian squeaked, squirming.
"Hey!"
"Okay, okay." He stopped and hugged him tighter.
"You know what my job is?"
"What?"
"This!" Ian started his own tickle attack and Barley burst into light laughter. Allowing his brother to have his fun.
The two elves spent the rest of that day. Just spending time together. Working on a few spells and of course a lot of tickles. While it could feel weird to ask for it. He knew if he tried Barley would know. He was very lucky and happy to have tickle monster as a brother. That didn't mean he wasn't going to bring Blazey the tickler out again. But this time for a different purpose.
A/N: Hey! So to start off, I would really love to thank the anon that prompted this for being so patient with me. Like I said in the last fic I released, I’ve been having a hard time writing lately, on top of I got quite busy and was doing a lot of different things. So thank you very much for being so patient with me and getting this fic out. This is my first Onward fic, so I’m super excited to get to write for it! Anyways, I hope it turns out decent enough, and I hope you enjoy it!
“Don’t you even dare touch me,” Ian warned, his hands poised in front of him in a defensive position. Barley smirked at his brother, taking a step closer. Ian quickly stepped backwards in return.
“Or what? You’re going to get more flustered? You’re going to get even blushier? Oh yeah, Ian, I’m really scared,” Barley teased with a warm smile on his face. Ian glared, but the large smile he had over his face took away any real malice behind it.
“Y-you shut up.” Barley simply smirked and took another step towards his brother, once again causing Ian to mirror him.
“Oh come on Ian,” Barley sing-songed, “You know I’m gonna get you, you might as well just give up now.” Ian shook his head defiantly, taking another step back when Barley stepped forward. Barely smirked, more maliciously than before, stepping forward one last time. Ian shot him a confused look that quickly turned into one of playful fear when he felt his hit up against the wall. “Gotcha,” Barely teased, scooping Ian up in his arms and carrying him over to the couch and pinning him down. Ian squirmed around, a wide smile on his face as he gently kicked his legs out and tried to tug his arms down.
“Barley,” he whined, “Just let me go, I didn’t do anything!” Barley ignored him and started gently kneading into sides.
“I know you didn’t do anything, but you need to smile more.” Ian simply shook his head in return, happy giggles pouring out of his mouth. “I mean look at that, your smile is so cute!” Ian blushed at the compliment, trying to bury his face away into his arm. Barley tsked at him and started gently spidering along the now exposed skin on his neck. Ian’s head immediately snapped back to its immediate position as he tried to dislodge his brother’s hand.
“Bahahahaharlehehey! Dohohohon’t!”
“Don’t what? I’m not doing anything,” the older said with a smirk, moving down to tickle under Ian’s arms. Anything Ian was going to say was immediately lost to the loud laughter that came spilling out of his mouth. He desperately tugged on his arms, trying to shuffle away from the tickly feelings lighting up his nerves. Barley smiled adoringly at his brother, enjoying every second of making his face light up. Ian was an absolutely mess, his hair was a huge mess from squirming around, his face was bright red from all the laughter, and there was a ginormous grin stretched across his face, making his eyes crinkle up in the corners.
Barley continued on tickling Ian’s stomach for a little while before deciding to give him a break.
“You having fun, little bro?” Ian panted, still trying to catch his breath from the tickling. Despite the bright blush on his face he nodded, the smile never disappearing from his face. Barley smiled and ruffled his hair, chuckling as Ian immediately started swatting at his hands. “You ready for more then?” Again, Ian shyly nodded, the blush still never fading away. Barley cooed at him a bit before continuing on. “Alright, do you want me to get your worst spot now or other tickles first?”
“O-other ones p-please,” Ian slightly stuttered out, smiling sheepishly. Barley nodded and started squeezing Ian’s knees, wasting absolutely no time. Ian broke out into high pitched, airy giggles as soon as Barley started. He was squirming left and right, kicking out, trying to pull his legs up to his chest. In defense Barley simply pinned down Ian’s right leg and started squeezing the pressure point above his knee and gently scribbled the sensitive skin underneath it. Ian practically shrieked, sitting up and gently drilling his fingers into Barley’s sides to try to stop his fingers. Barley squealed, though he’d never admit that he did, as he latched onto Ian’s fingers trying to pull them away from his sides.
After a couple minutes, Barley managed to wrestle Ian off of him and pinned his arms to the side with his knees.
“Oh you’re gonna pay for it now,” he growled out playfully, smirking down at him. Ian shook his head, already giggling like mad. Barley paid him no attention as he pushed Ian’s shirt up and started vibrating his hand into Ian’s tummy. As soon as Barley’s hand made contact with his stomach Ian began howling with laughter, and trying to curl up into a ball. Barley laughter evilly at his brother, letting go of his wrists in favor of pinching along his hips. Ian’s hands immediately shot down to Barley’s hand, trying to pry it off of his stomach. It was all in vain though, because laughing so hard had drained all of the strength from the younger one, so all he could really do was pointlessly squirm from side to side.
Once Ian’s laughter had turned silent Barley slowed himself to a stop but didn’t let Ian up just yet.
“Bahahahaharley nohoho mohohohore,” Ian giggled out giddily, burying his face away into his hands. Barley smiled and scooped him up into his lap, gently hugging him to help him calm down.
“One more thing then I’m done, I promise.” Ian started a whole new giggle fit, already knowing what Barley was going to do. He covered up his stomach and shook his head.
“Nohohoho thahahat’s nahahat ahahahallohohohohowed!” Barley just shook his head and moved Ian’s hands to the sides, blowing a quick raspberry into his tummy before he could spit out any more protests. Ian didn’t have the energy to laugh anymore, he just shook with silent laughter. After another quick raspberry to his neck Barley finally stopped. Ian promptly buried away into his brother’s chest, letting the residual giggles slip away. “Thank you,” Ian mumbled out, the smile obvious in his words. Barley simply nodded and lightly rubbed his back.
“You needed to smile.” Ian nodded, a yawn escaping his mouth while he did. Barley checked the clock and it read 11:00pm. “Well I’m gonna head to bed, and I suggest you do the same.” Again, Ian nodded in response and started a sleepy trudge up the stairs to his room.
The two of them gave quick goodnights before going to their respective room and falling asleep pretty quickly.

GiggleTober Day 14:Magic
Switches: Ian and Barley
Words: 1,600 +
The Lightfoot household was never necessarily a quiet place. There was always something going on that kept the place full of love and life. Providing a sense of welcoming comfort to anyone new who felt out of place amongst the family.
Music flowed throughout the house from different people. Different kinds of rock, metal, piano, hip hop and all sorts of genres. Different smells of baked goods which Laurel specialized in. The house always seemed to have a sweet aroma. And all sorts of laughter and loud noises constantly to be heard. Yet there always seemed to be a bit of chaos arising from it.
At this current point in time the main cause of such event was non other than Barley. Like always…what else is new..
He had practically been behaving like a rambunctious dragon hatchling all morning. Jumpscaring his mom around the corner before she chased him around the house. Hitting him lightly with a spatula. Mimicking Bronco anytime he saw him just to make Charlie laugh. He seemed in search of something, or maybe WANTED something, but what exactly was the question.
Laurel was busy in the kitchen making a batch of cookies with Bronco. He didn’t necessarily fit into the general environment yet but he was starting to get the hang of it. Charlie was in her room working on a paper. Paw tapping up and against the side of her desk and her cheek smushed against her hand. While Ian currently remained in the backyard practicing spells. He had already messed with everyone.
Magic was most certainly not an easy feat to accomplish. Taking years of practice to master and simply remember all the spells was more than a handful for a young wizard like Ian.
Said wizard had been practicing for nearly an hour now. The grass had enough of an imprint on it to show it was being well used. His freckles slightly glistening from the sweat beginning to emerge from his blue skin. The culprit being non other than the big old sun. Light emitted from the end of the staff as he waved the stick in every which way.
Suddently yelping however at a sudden trace across his side. Whipping around with his staff and nearly making his “attacker” stumble to the ground.
“WOAHwoah!- hehey bud!”-
Ian couldn’t help but let out a dramatic sigh at the sight of his brother.
“Barley….”
“That’s meeee!” A smug look of pride was practically glued to his face. Spreading his arms out in a gesture to referring to himself as his little brother shook his head.
“I couldn’t help but notice you practice your magely abilitiesssss, care if I stay and watch or give you something pointers.”
Ian thought for a moment, he couldn’t turn him down. He also wouldn’t mind the company.
“I don’t mind Barley.” The young wizard smiled before getting back into his proper stance. His brother remained behind him seeming to be mimicking his motions.. Opening his mouth to begin the proper wording before being interrupted by his own shrill. His side having been suddently squished and retracted rather quickly.
“Baharley!”-
Said elf shrugged his shoulders in “confusion”.
“Ihi didn’t do anything! Just standing here and watching is all. The wind seems to be strong today”-
He squinted his eyes toward the sneak.
“Rihight…sure you were.”
His eyes remained locked on his brother before trying one more time. Barley simply rocked back and forth on his heels like a little kid planning something.
He knew his brother wanted something. And he had a brief thought as to what that could be. He was generally able to recognize these moods of his rather well by now. If he was right he had just the thing to combat him, it was long past due after all.
Ian had been the victim of Barley’s shenanigans for years now. He had practically been rewarded the title of tickle monster of the mushroom since he was at least four years old. And Ian well…he basically had a piece of paper stuck to his back 24/7 that says “tickle me” on it. The poor guy was too shy to ever get anyone back or had the confidence to do so…except on rare occasions…
It had nearly blown over Ian’s head until now that he technically had the upper hand over his brother. Sure he wasn’t strong and confident like he was. But he literally was holding a magical staff. At the sudden thought a cheeky grin spread across Ian’s blue face.
He practically whipped around at noticing his brother approaching him once again. Making Barley jump and run back to his original standing position.
“Yknow I’m not five right? I can see you.”
“See what?” He innocently blinked his eyes. Raising his arms upright to hold the back of his head. His shirt slightly riding up a little bit, letting a little bit of his blue tummy to be visible.
He was really asking for it. Raising an eyebrow Ian reached his staff outwards and gently poked Barley with said staff right against his belly. A brief squeaking noise escaping him as he slammed his arms downwards and held his hands onto the wood. His ears so slightly drooping. His smile once of confidence becoming a little nervous…
“H-hehey now…Ian?”-
On normal occasions Barley would have straight up wrecked Ian’s butt right then and there. No poking and prodding whatsoever. And Ian knew that from the many past experience before this. Who knew the big bad tickle monster wanted some of it himself.
“You’re not necessarily that hard to read, right?”
The tips of the eldest’s ears slightly glowed a brighter dusting of pink.
“How so? Ihi don’t know what you’re talking about?” Backing away ever so slightly his hands ungrasped from his brother’s staff. Before making a break for it around the side of the house. Nearly falling and smacking into the grass chin first, but before he could make much of an escape Ian had already spoken the chant as he took Of the levitation spell. Stopping his brother mid step and floating off the ground. His body glowing and glistening with a blue light. Hardly having made it into the house.
“Ah crap.”
With a shake of the head and a chuckle Ian walked into the house dragging Barley along. He didn’t even bother trying to grab onto anything and just letting it happen. Lightly dropping the bigger elf onto the floor with a bit of a thump. While Isn sat criss cross next to him.
“You could have just asked.” Ian placed his staff behind him.
“Yeah I know- But this is more fun!”
Ian shook his head before moving his hands out and across from him over to his brother gently scratching at his sides and making him snicker softly.
“W-hehey!- Ihihian!”-
“Yes Barley?”
He simply snorted and squeezed his eyes shut. Kicking his feet a little bit and squeaking beneath his little brother.
“Youhure tihickling mehehe!”
“I mean….haven’t you’ve been asking for this all day so I don’t thihink you’re protesting. If it interpreting this right of course.”
Barley slightly rolled onto his side and held onto Ian’s wrists ever so slightly. Not in anyway tight but more so resting there.
“Well I hope it does, I mean after all isn’t this long over due? You attack me all the TIME!”
A brief look of pride overcame the older elfs face before it melted into a far sweeter one of whimsy as his brothers hands shifted to the sides of his tummy.
“Yeah buhut that’s bihig brother privillages, you’re ahalso small and eHEHEasy toho gehet and don’t put up a fight like mohom or ChaHARLIE.”
The youngest squinted at his brother with a scrunched up nose. Briefly pausing his tickles to glare up at him
“I am not! I can be big and strong! Sometimes….”
A smirk formed onto barleys face, grinding ear to ear and reaching hand up to ruffle Ian’s hair up.
“You’re so cuteeee, sure you are.”-
“THATS IT”-
Without another word as barleys arm was raised up onto Ian’s head. The teenager snuck his fingers beneath barleys underarms. Sending the dungeon master into squealling frenzy.
“WhaHAIT IHIAN! GYAHAHAHA!!”-
Throwing his head back he released his hand from the littlest and squeezed his biceps to his ribs. His wide smile radiated with joy along with the his chipped tooth and wacky teeth that were all out and open.
“Yeah Thahats what I thought. Can’t take what you dish out I see…” He kept a hand tracing at barleys poor hollow and moved another to squish at his hip. Gently curling his thumb against the dip of it. Seeming to be Copying a few of the others methods of play which he used on him…if it worked on Ian why not Barley. It most certainly was working. He was quite the hypocrite really.
“I don’t think Charlie would approve of you being so rude to me and ma. Do I need to get her into this too?”
A dusting of red seemed to spread across the fellow Lightfoot’s freckled face and ears.
“NONOHO plehease dohont *snort* Leheave her ohout ohof thHIHIS!”-
“Hmmmmm I think I might…” With a swift movement he gently vibrated his fingertips against Barleys belly. Getting a very embarrassing yet sweet squeal followed by a long belly laugh.
“IHIIHIAHAAAN!!”-
Said elf slowed his little attack to a stop. Standing up above barley and leaving him laying on the floor. Letting him get his giggles out and rub off the tingles remains in his tummy.
“You alright? I didn’t take it too far did I?”
Getting up off the floor he sat upright and hugged an arm around himself and held his cheek.
“I’m good baby bro Dohont worry…but don’t think that you’re safe.”
The mage’s heart dropped… “W-Whahat?”
“You have 5 seconds.”
And just like that he was off and running up the stairs away from him.
