Newt has offered to let Jacob help him look after the magical beasts again. This time, he has an Acromantula family with spiderlings he has to tend to. It takes a moment for Jacob to understand what this actually entails...
Late...again. What else is new? Oh well. I brought back Newt Scamander! Hope you all enjoy!
Newt climbed into the suitcase before Jacob, to get to his large sanctum. Now, Jacob had been in the suitcase a few times now, and was no longer as scared of the creatures. Though this was in part due to Newt desensitizing him to the creatures, Newt still found it very helpful having another helper in his suitcase occasionally.
Besides: This time, Newt had a large amount of tasks to do today. He had to feed the creatures, tend to the Grindylow’s, and add more empty light bulbs to the Light bulb habitat. The first two tasks were standard stuff he did on the daily. But the light bulb task? Not so much. What happened was, Newt had recently brought more glow worms into his suitcase. As a result, he needed to provide the glow worms more light bulbs to make sure each one has its own to thrive in.
With Jacob on board, all of these tasks were done in the matter of an hour.
But unbeknownst to Jacob, Newt had saved his favorite task for last.
“Where are we now?” Jacob asked.
“We’re in another habitat I made especially for the Acromantulas.” Newt told him.
“What are acromantulas?” Jacob asked.
“I guess in your world they would be called spiders.” Newt explained.
“O-Oh…” Jacob froze up with nervousness. “S-Spiders?”
“Oh…Right, are you nervous around spiders?” Newt asked him.
“Uh- Oh! No no no.” He shook his head and scoffed, waving his hand. “Nah, I’m not bothered by them. They’re small little things. Easy to deal with.” He told him.
“Okay good.” Newt told him. “The mother was expecting, and eggs were pretty much ready to hatch last I checked.” Newt told him, leading him through the big habitat.
Jacob could feel the anxiety worsening with every sentence. “D-Did you s-say…B-Babies?” Jacob asked.
“Yup.” Newt replied. “And if I’m correct, then the babies should’ve hatched this morning.” Newt climbed up a rock, and landed on the ground in front of it. “Which means I need to introduce myself.” Newt told him.
Jacob let out a shaky breath. “Oh boy…” He mumbled, patting his forehead with a handkerchief. The man was visibly nervous.
“They’re currently residing in a habitat somewhat similar to where the Nundu resided.” Newt told him. “Only difference was, this rainforest looked more like the rainforests in Indonesia.” He told him.
Jacob bit his lip. “Uh huh?”
Newt kept going. “Though I would normally try to save room by putting the Acromantulas into the Nundu habitat, the mother was expecting babies at the time.” Newt explained. “And you can probably imagine my fear of the Nundu killing the Acromantula couple in their most vulnerable state.” Newt explained.
Newt and Jacob finally reached the nesting grounds of the Acromantula family.
“OOOoohmygod they’re huge…” Jacob muttered.
“RIght, forgot to mention that. They’re quite giant.” Newt mentioned. “Also, please keep a good distance from them. Humans are their prey, and you’ll be caught if you’re not careful.” Newt told him.
“Oooookay…” Jacob moved a good 20 feet away, and sat himself down on a rock. “I’m gonna need a second…” He muttered.
“Take your time.” Newt told him from the nest. Newt looked up to the Acromantulas and petted the mother’s head quite gently. “Hello big girl.” Newt greeted. “Doing well now?” He asked. And there, on the mother’s back, were all her babies. “And look at all of you…” Newt looked at all the babies. “A large litter of spiderlings.” Newt reacted. “Hello little guys.” Newt greeted. “How many have we got here?” He asked aloud. “I think there might’ve been up to 50 spiderlings per egg.” Newt said.
“F-fifty…” He mumbled, his face growing more and more white.
“I believe so.” Newt said. “And that’s relatively low compared to most egg sacs.” Newt added. He placed his hand under one of the spiderlings, and picked it up. “Look at you…” Newt held the spider in both his palms “You’re a healthy one, aren’t you?” Newt reacted calmly.
“S-So…Y-you’re not afraid of th-them?” Jacob asked.
“Not even a little. They’re absolutely fascinating to me.” Newt told him, reaching his hand up and placing the spiderling onto the Acromantula’s back. “The spiderlings themselves are relatively harmless.” Newt unbuttoned his coat as he walked up to Jacob. “Can you take this?” He asked, handing him the blue coat.
“S-Sure.” Jacob said, taking it for him, before checking vigorously for any spiders hidden in the coat. But the pockets were relatively empty besides his wand.
“The spiderlings are rather curious little creatures.” Newt admitted, placing his hand onto the back of the Acromantula mother. “Wanna see how I get them used to me?” Newt asked.
“S-Sure! Sure.” Jacob admitted, trying to put on a brave face again.
“Are you sure? I will warn you, it’s a little scary to watch if you’re scared of spiders.” Newt admitted. “But I assure you, they’re quite harmless.” He reminded him.
“Yeah, I wanna see what you do.” Jacob replied.
“Alright.” Newt unbuttoned 2 of his top buttons before placing his hand onto the Acromantula’s back.
Jacob watched as a bunch of the spiderlings crawled onto Newt’s hand, and down his arm to his shirt. Though Jacob was horrified at first, he calmed slightly when he saw Newt’s eager, crooked smile. It looked like a bunch of the spiderlings were moving down his arm and both into, and on top of Newt’s shirt.
“Ihit’s been forever since I fehelt thihis.” Newt admitted, letting a few giggles slip.
Jacob, to be frank, was a little perplexed. “Felt what?” He asked.
“Sihince Ihihi fehelt-” Newt’s arm began to pull away from the spider’s back as bits of giggles and laughter left his mouth. “Hehehehe- HahahaHA!”
Jacob dropped his jaw. “Are you okay?!” He stood up from the rock with his eyes widened. “You look like you’re gonna fall any second!”
“S-Stahahay bahack, Ihi’m fine, ihihihi’m fihine!” He told him. “Ihihi’ll just-” Newt carefully laid himself down onto the ground to save himself from injury. “Thehehere.” He said. When Newt was on his back, the spiderlings seemed more than happy to truly explore their first human. “Ohohokahay, GAHAHAhahahaha! Gohohoho nuhuhuts!”
“Ohoho my god!” Jacob reacted, watching the whole thing. “Is this a normal occurrence for you?!” Jacob asked him.
“Hahahaha! Sohometihihimes! D-Dehehepehends ohohohon the spihihiderlihihings.” Newt admitted.
Jacob watched on as Newt was continuously swarmed by spiders, and presumably explored. But it looked more like the spiderlings were doing more tickling than exploring. Jacob could only imagine that this type of exploration was supposed to tickle. But if that was the case, then why didn’t Newt mention this before?!
Although, we are talking about the same person who didn’t mention that Acromantula’s are a million times bigger than muggle-spiders.
“Cahaharefuhuhul! Ohoho jeeeheeheeheez…” Newt muttered. It was clear he was beginning to realize the situation he willingly put himself into.
“Oh god…” Jacob seemed to realize this too. “Do they know when to stop?” Jacob asked.
“Ihihihi dohohon’t- AAHAHAA! Ihi dohohon’t knohohow!” Newt admitted, rolling onto his left side. Unfortunately for Newt (And fortunately for Jacob), Newt had rolled towards Jacob…meaning Newt’s bright smile and giddy face was completely visible to his new friend.
Gosh, just seeing the joy on Newt’s face was enough to make Jacob laugh. “Ohoho geez! Hahahaha! Thihis ihis awesohome!” He reacted.
Newt covered his face with his hands. “Shuhuhut uhuhup…” Newt whined.
This only made Jacob laugh even more! “Dihid you just whine like a child?!” Jacob asked him.
“Nohohohoho…” Newt whined in the exact same tone.
“Wohohow…You even lie like one too!” Jacob reacted.
“STAHAHAP!” Newt shouted at him.
“Okay, okay!” Jacob put his hands up in arrest. “Is there anything I can do to help? Anything at all?” Jacob asked.
“Plehehehease hehehelp mehehehe!” Newt pleaded.
“Ah-” Jacob looked at the mother. “I don’t think I can, Newt…” One little snippet of information rang through his head:
[ “Please keep a good distance from them. Humans are their prey, and you’ll be caught if you’re not careful.” ]
Remembering this, Jacob knew he couldn’t come closer for fear of the mother eating him. But his friend was gonna die of laughter if he didn’t do anything…
Suddenly, the spiders paused their exploring! They just stood there in place. They didn’t even flinch!
And then, as if nothing happened, all the spiderlings crawled off of Newt. While Newt laid limp on the ground, the spiders all crawled up their mother’s leg and onto their mother’s back again. How they knew to do that, Jacob had no clue.
Jacob ran up to Newt and knelt down to help him. “Newt! Are you okay?”
Newt was laying there, giggling with a permanent smile on his face. “Goodness…Thahat wahahas…” Newt giggled a little more. “Tohohoo much.” He said, sitting himself up.
“Let me getcha up.” Jacob took his hand and pulled him onto his feet. When he was up, Jacob wrapped Newt’s arm around his shoulders, and helped him walk. “You okay, buddy?”
Newt giggled and snorted. “Never betteher.” Newt muttered.
Jacob shook his head as he laughed. This would be the perfect story to tell Queenie and Tina.
Wrote this earlier today and I low key love how it turned out! Newt and Tina are such a lovely pair and I ship them so I had to write something for them ❤️
Hope you guys like it!
Warning: None
Summery: Tina find out a rather interesting fact about Newt when she walks in on the Niffler attacking him.
“Teddy don’t even think about it” Newt said sternly as he noticed the Niffler at the corner of his eye. Newt was busy with figuring out venom he found in a small creature he’d found. But the Niffler was busy himself. Teddy had eyed the magizoologists pocket watch for the millionth time, but unfortunately for him, Newt had noticed, but the Niffler wasn’t going to give up. He scampered closer.
“I told a million times you mustn’t take what isn’t- gAh!” As he was lecturing the small creature, Teddy had crawled up his leg and went right into his coat. “T-Teddy no get out of their! Ahaha nohoho!” Newt had made to grab for the small creature, but just then Teddy had began scritching into his lower side. He was attempting to get to the pocket watch. “Tehehedy stohohop!” He cried through giggles as he tried again to grab the Niffler, but he was to fast and went up towards a more sensitive spot in his ribs, making Newt go limp and his laughter increase, “NohOHoHOh dOHOhohNT!!!”
Just then Tina had appeared. She usually did to check on him. She giggled at the sight of what was happening. “Tihihina! Tihihina hehehelp!!!” His laughter was becoming squeakier.
She smiled at him and came over to pull the Niffler off, “You never told me you were ticklish.” Tina said with a soft and playful grin. Newt wrapped his arms around himself in defense “I didn’t think it was relevant.”
Tina poked him in the stomach and he let out an indignant squeak “stop!”
“Wow you’re really ticklish aren’t you?” She giggled. “Please, Tina not you too… AH!”
Tina had pulled him to the ground and straddled his waist. “Newt you didn’t seriously think I wouldn’t tickle you if I knew you were ticklish, did you?”
And before Newt could protest anymore Tina had began to spider her fingers into his sides, making Newt fall into uncontrollable giggles “Tihinahaha!” He cried through his ticklish reactions. His giggles became laughter when she dug into his ribs “Stahahahap!!!!” He protested as he attempted to fight off her hands.
Just then, she tried to get into his armpits, but Newt was quicker and immediately clamped his arms tightly against his sides. “Nohohot theheir” He said desperately through excess giggles. Tina chuckled “is it that bad their?”
Newt nodded. He had too many memories of Theseus attacking him in that spot when they were kids and could still remember the torturous sensations he felt.
Suddenly Tina took him by surprise and pinned his wrists firmly above his head. Newt desperately tried to pull his arms down but it was useless.
“Just let me know if it really gets too much.” Was all Tina said before digging into the bit of shirt that covered the hyper sensitive spot. “TIHIHINAHAHAHA!” Newt lost himself in hysterical laughter, kicking his legs around behind the tickler as if that helped anything. The ticklish sensations were driving him mad. Tina had never seen him like his. Looking so desperate and hysterical. “MEHERCY MEHEHERCYY” he shouted through his laughter. Tina stopped out of respect for his sanity. Plus she kinda felt guilty, “Sorry Newt are you ok? That wasn’t too bad was it?” Tina asked with concern as she watched him trying harder than normal to catch his breath. His hair was disheveled and he was slightly sweaty from exertion. “It’s ok…” he said finally, “It wasn’t.. terrible.”
At that Tina stared at him with surprise, then a smile grew on her face. “Does this mean I can tickle you more in the future?”
Newt was red faced from embarrassment but he nodded “If.. if you must.”
It was in his eyes. In the way he observed and studied and took in everything Newt said. Newt loved spending time with Credence. He loved that he can be eccentric with someone else, like he was with Jacob. But he loved even more that he can be quiet with someone else. The right kind of quiet, too. If he hummed or muttered to a bowtruckle, there wouldn’t be any question of, “Who’re you talking to?” It was so simple. And what’s more, Newt liked the company.
“Thought we could bring in a more domesticated creature for you,” Newt told Credence one day after revealing to him a Puffskein.
Credence’s head tilted and he reached his hands out to it. Newt tossed it to Credence and the yelp that Credence let out was so terrified and hilarious all at once, as he lurched forward to catch the creature. Newt started to laugh, which he rarely did.
“It’s alright, Credence,” Newt assured the other man, stepping closer to stroke a hand over the Puffskein’s fluffy, round back, “They rather enjoy being thrown about.”
“You startled me,” Credence pointed out, a blush on his cheeks from his embarassing reaction.
“They also enjoy a cuddle. See?” Newt took the Puffskein from Credence and rested it on his shoulder. Perched there, it snuggled close to Newt’s neck and began to purr.
Newt giggled and his head jerked. Credence caught on immediately and he finally allowed himself to show a very slight smile.
Newt took the creature away from his neck after squeaking in an undignified kind of way. Now both he and Credence shared their pink-tinged cheeks.
“Careful with that one. She may have a bit of mischief in her,” Newt extended his arms with the yellow-furred Puffskein in them. Credence took the fluff ball back.
“Thank you,” he said and went to sit on the sofa with his new pet. Newt took a seat next to Credence.
“You’re very welcome,” Newt smiled and he reached over and scratched at the Puffskein’s furry belly. It started to purr again. Credence giggled now, as it was seated in his lap close to his belly.
“Feels odd,” Credence got out when he held the Puffskein from him in his outstretched hands.
Newt, emboldened by the soft interactions with the Puffskein, reached up and graced his fingers across Credence’s neck. The Occulus’s head came crashing down to his shoulder and the Puffskein went to his lap once more.
“Newt,” Credence breathed.
“Just lightly. It won’t feel bad, I promise,” Newt, ever reassuring, began to trace his fingers along Credence’s side, up his ribs. He curled away with a high-pitched giggle. And Newt loved it this way.

Lee!Newt, Ler!Minho
Word Count: 864
Summary: Newt wakes Minho up in a chaotic way, and Minho is not going to let him get away with that.
Newt wasn’t sure what it was. But a certain mischief had crept up on him, much like he was creeping up on Minho right now. The boy was dead asleep in his hammock, unaware of the blond’s presence.
The Runners had been extra whiny lately, begging Nick for a break every single day. Newt hadn’t been part of that group—staying busy was good. It stopped his thoughts from wandering into… dark places. Mostly. Anyway.
Nick had finally given in and allowed them one day of reprieve to rest up. Minho, like many of the boys, had chosen to sleep in. Newt had, too, but not for long, as his sleep schedule hadn’t allowed him to. Usually, he’d let everyone sleep. But as previously mentioned, he’d been infected with mischief. That, and he was bored.
Newt didn’t have to try very hard to conceal his footsteps, as Minho’s snores drowned them out. Even then, he was careful as he moved closer to his friend. Once he was right in front of the hammock, he gripped its edges and flipped it over, launching Minho from it as well.
The Asian boy flopped onto the floor face first. At first, he didn’t even move, nor did any noise escape his mouth. Newt thought that the Runner may not have woken up from the impact, somehow.
But then, he raised his head, and uttered a single word that sent chills down Newt’s spine: “Run.”
And run, he did.
Newt bolted out of the Homestead, nearly tripping over his own feet as he did. He didn’t dare look behind him, already hearing Minho’s gaining footsteps. Minho’d always been faster than him. Wow, he really hadn’t thought about the consequences of his actions, had he?
It wasn’t long before Newt was tackled to the ground, sending both boys tumbling through the grass. They were a pile of laughter and limbs, each of them wrestling and fighting to gain control. To what end? Neither of them knew.
Newt started to slowly gain the upper hand. Somehow. That was, until Minho cheated.
The second Newt felt fingers on his ribs, he knew it was over. Giggles started pouring from his mouth, and every defense he once had crumbled. Minho gained control instantly, dancing his fingers up and down Newt’s torso.
“Blohohohohoody cheheheheheheater!” Newt giggled.
“I’m not cheating, shuckface! I’m teaching you a lesson! Don’t mess with my beauty sleep!” With that, Minho spidered his fingers up into the hollows of Newt’s armpits. His giggles turned into squeaky, wheezy laughter as the dark-haired boy lightly scratched in Newt’s worst spot.
“I’ll never get over how ticklish you are, shank. How old are you, six?”
“YOHOHOHOHOU KNOHOHOHOHOW— SHUHUHUHUHUCKIHIHIHIHIN’ WEHEHEHELL I DOHOHOHOHOHON’T— KNOHOHOHOHOW!”
“Oh yeah. So I guess you could be six,” Minho teased as he was able to get on top of Newt. Newt was kicking his feet in a lame attempt to get Minho off.
“Then don’t wake me up on my one day off!” He accentuated his words by blowing a raspberry on Newt’s neck, never stopping the attack to his armpits. Newt fell into a series of cackles and snorts, a chorus of “Minho!” “Shuck!” and “No!” filled the air. Minho switched to blowing in Newt’s ears, making the blond squeal adorably.
“‘One of the toughest Runners’ my butt,” Minho said with a klunk-eating grin on his face. He paused momentarily. “So, you gonna apologize for interrupting my much-needed rest??”
Through his heaves for air, Newt was able to get out a sharp, stubborn, “No!”
“No? Well, if you say so. I’ll just go back to those ears—”
“Wait!” Newt cried frantically, but it was too late. Minho was already blowing right into his ear, making Newt press it against his shoulder; Minho just moved to the other side. Newt couldn’t force any words out of his mouth, subject to the torture than Minho was inflicting.
After a few more gusts of wind hit Newt’s eardrums, Minho pulled away again. “Let’s try this again. Are you gonna apologize for flipping over my shuckin’ hammock?”
Newt nodded vigorously, still giggling and breathing heavily. Usually… yeah, sure, maybe he liked being tickled. But he really needed a break.
Minho chuckled and got off of him. “Don’t do it again, or I’ll be much less merciful.”
“Merciful?” Newt gasped for air. “You wouldn’t know mercy if it stared you in the shuck face.”
“I’m about to prove you right if you don’t shut up.”
He shut up.
Minho playfully kicked the side of Newt’s head before extending a hand to help him up. Newt took it, and Minho heaved the still-giggling boy to his feet.
“You hungry?” Minho asked as if he hadn’t just wrecked him.
“…I could eat,” Newt admitted, not being able to force down the stupid smile on his face. He rubbed his ears, trying to get rid of the lingering tickles.
“Good. Race you there, slinthead!” Minho broke off into a run. Newt rolled his eyes playfully but took off after him.
As he sprinted to catch up with his friend, a thought entered his mind: Next time mischief calls… maybe don’t answer.
Summary: Minho and Thomas find out Newt is ticklish and abuse the art of anticipation.
“C’mon, Newt, you can’t run forever!”
Newt made the mistake of looking behind him, letting out a yelp when he saw how close Thomas and Minho were getting. Curse his stupid limp and those Runner shanks!
“Leave me alone!” He yelled over his shoulder to his friends. They, of course, ignored him and continued to chase after the blond.
As he went to pass by the Homestead, Chuck picked the worst possible time to step out of its doors. He slammed into the boy, who tried to steady him by grabbing his forearms.
Newt squirmed and tried to regain his footing, knowing that this would end very badly for him. “No, Chuck, stop, let go!” He said, his words coming out panicked. “Chuck, bloody he–” He was cut off when two hands grabbed his hips and lifted him up and off the ground. He was thrown over someone’s shoulder, and he knew it was Minho’s when he looked up and saw Thomas grinning at him.
“Thanks for that, Chuckie,” Minho said as though Newt wasn’t currently pounding on his back, his signature smirk prominent in his voice. Before Chuck could even ask what was happening, Minho started carrying the British boy away with Thomas on his heels.
“Put me down, you shank!” Newt said.
“Put you down? No way! You can’t just mention that you’re ticklish and then not expect us to tickle you,” Minho said.
“Yeah, you kinda brought this upon yourself,” Thomas added, grinning at Newt. Newt reached out to smack him, but Thomas only dodged and laughed.
“Tommy, I will throw ya in the buggin’ Slammer! You too, Minho!” Newt threatened, though all three boys knew he meant nothing by it.
“Sure you will,” Thomas said.
Newt couldn’t get any more words out before Minho practically threw him down onto the grass. He straddled his hips, while Thomas followed his lead and pinned down Newt’s once-failing wrists above his head.
“Now, let’s see… Where should I start first?” Minho cracked his knuckles, a glint in his eyes that scared Newt more than any Griever ever would. “Ribs, hips, pits, neck, stomach… so many options.”
Newt squirmed. “Just get it over with.”
Both boys promptly ignored him. “Lift his shirt,” Thomas suggested.
Newt’s eyes widened. “Do not lift my shirt!”
“That’s the smartest thing I’ve ever heard you say, Greenie,” Minho said, once again acting like he didn’t hear a word from the boy underneath him. Newt sucked in his stomach as Minho lifted his shirt, the breeze on his now-bare skin making him shiver.
“I’m gonna kill you shucks,” Newt muttered.
“You’re in no position to be making threats, Mr. Tea-And-Crumpets,” Minho teased. Newt glared at him, but his glare turned into a look of fear as Minho started bringing his fingers oh-so-slowly to Newt’s midsection. He paused when Newt sucked in his stomach again.
“Someone’s nervous,” Thomas commented, grinning down at his friend.
“Slim it!” Newt hissed.
“Make me. Oh wait, you can’t,” Minho said, teasingly wiggling his fingers just above Newt’s ribs. To Newt’s horror, giggles of anticipation started building up in his throat and broke free from his lips.
Minho barked out a laugh. “I’m not even touching you, man.”
“I know!” Newt was able to say without giggles in his words.
“What’s wrong, Newt? Is the air tickling you?” Thomas said. Oh, if murder was allowed…
“Maybe it’s the grass,” Minho added to play along. “Is that what it is? You so ticklish that the shuckin’ grass is tickling you?”
“I hohohope the blohohohoody Grievehehehers get you shahahahahanks!”
“You what?? That’s it!” Minho was just about to unleash ticklish hell upon Newt when a familiar, commanding voice rang out.
“What are you shanks doing?”
Alby. Thank God.
Minho stopped just as his fingertips grazed over Newt’s ribs, making the anticipation only grow.
“Help!” Newt said, managing to swallow his giggles, though his voice came out squeaky.
“So we were having a Gathering, and this is why your chairs were empty?” Alby said.
Newt’s face flushed, half in embarrassment and half in shame. The Gathering. He’d completely forgotten about it while being chased by the Keeper of the Runners and the Greenie. “...Shuck.”
Alby sighed and pinched the bridge of his nose, but Newt swore he could see a barely-suppressed smile on his face. “Let him go and get your butts to the Homestead.” Thomas let go of Newt's wrists immediately, who hugged himself. Minho, on the other hand, to absolutely no one’s surprise, was more reluctant.
“Can’t the Gathering wait?”
“Minho.”
“Fiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiinnnnnneeeeeee…” Minho said, standing and helping up Newt, who was still red in the face. He punched both Minho and Thomas in the shoulder. Thomas grinned, and Minho, being the bolder one, put the Second In Command in a headlock and gave him a noogie. Newt squirmed, kicking his legs and trying to escape.
“Knock it off,” Alby said, though there was definitely a smile on his face.
“You’re no fun, Alby,” Minho said, though he let Newt go. Newt distanced himself from the Asian and moved closer to Alby, who chuckled.
“Don’t worry, you can have your fun with him after,” the older boy said. Newt glared at him, and Minho smirked as he walked by. Something told him that he was going to have a very hard time focusing during this Gathering.
