Jeno liked to think that he knew his members pretty well. They have been together for over a decade, and, as NCT Dream’s captain, he was almost 100% sure that he knew every move his members would make.
That is until they got to Kansai International Airport.
Everything was okay at first, aside from the fact that their bags were a little delayed from release, so the eight members of Dream decided to wait in a cafe while things got sorted out.
It was when Mark was doing a silent headcount when they realized one tiny little detail.
“Um, guys?” The leader called everyone’s attention. “Where’s Hannah?”
Jeno looked up in alarm while Jaemin’s eyes widened. The sound of slurping stopped from where Haechan and Jisung were seated, and Chenle smacked the table.
Renjun looked up from his book. “Didn’t she go to the bathroom?”
A quick glance down at the purse in his lap made Jeno shake his head. “She’s on her period, she would have taken her bag with her.”
“I thought I only had one girl in my life that gets lost at airports,” Haechan mumbles while standing up. “I’ll take Chenle and check the Duty Free, she might be looking at perfumes again. We’ll be back in twenty minutes.”
Jeno nodded, getting up as well. “I’ll retrace our steps.”
“I’ll go with you, hyung,” Jisung picks up his drink. “After we find her, maybe we can check the gachapon.”
Mark nods. “Be here in twenty minutes. Jaemin, Renjun, stay here in case she comes back. I’m gonna go tell the managers.”
Just like that, they each went their own directions.
He wasn’t worried. No, Hannah was a fully-grown woman who had her wallet on her despite leaving her phone in her purse with him. It was more of amusement pooling in his and the rest of the members’ minds that, after years of her shepherding them together in the airport, she had suddenly gone missing.
The two boys had made it a point to keep their eyes peeled at pastry stalls or gift shops in case they find her, knowing she spends a little more impulsively on sweets and cute trinkets when on her period.
Within eight minutes, something started vibrating against Jeno’s torso. Something from inside Hannah’s purse.
“Her phone is ringing,” he mutters and goes to open the purse before his eyes catch Jisung’s. The younger boy gave him a sheepish smile, pulling his phone away from his ear, showing Hannah’s contact details on the screen.
“I just thought I’d try…” Jisung trails off before his eyes narrow. He perks up and points. “There! The gachapon!”
“We can check the gachapon after we find—” Jeno cuts himself off when his eyes fall on a familiar hoodie standing in front of one of the machines.
Jisung excitedly runs forward, a laugh escaping him as he arrives at his noona’s side. Jeno shook his head and fondly made his way over to them.
“Hey, Jen,” Hannah smiles at him while twisting the knob. “Look what I found.”
The sound of the ball rattling in the machine pulled his attention, similar faces plastered on the side of the glass.
An NCT Dream gachapon machine.
“You have the real NCT Dream with you on almost a daily basis,” Jeno chuckles, opening her purse for her to put the little capsules she already had into.
“I thought it would be cute if I could get all of us,” she places the ones she’s holding into her purse before opening the one she pulled just then. “Yes, finally! This one’s you, Jisung.”
She hands the maknae a small hamster charm, making his smile reach his ears.
“Thanks, noona,” he clenches it into his fist. “This was really nice of you.”
“But,” Jeno interjected, “you could have told us you were going to go here. Haechan and Chenle are looking for you in the perfume section in Duty Free. Jaemin’s getting you a hot mocha. Mark hyung’s checking with the managers to get them ready to talk to security.”
“Aw, I’m sorry,” a small chuckle escapes her lips as she reaches up to ruffle both the boys’ hair. “It just slipped my mind. I’ll make it up to you guys, our dinner’s on me tonight.”
Jeno chuckles as well, throwing an arm over her shoulder and leading her away, back to the cafe. “You don’t have to. I’m sure the others won’t mind once you give them those little figures.”
“If you got everyone,” Jisung catches up to them quickly. “Which, you did, right?”
“I did, yours was the last I needed.” Her arm looped through his, the three of them falling into step together. “But, for some reason, I got like six Marks. I’m giving them away at the concert.”
Seven boys looked up from the couch where they were scrolling on their phones, some on the ground and some laying on each other.
“I’ll answer it.” Chan grunted, gently handing an asleep Hannie’s head to Minho, who was seated beside him.
An elated look flashed on Channie’s face the moment he opened the door.
“Channie? Who is it?” Minho yelled from his spot on the couch.
“HANNAH!!” Chan shrieked, latching onto his sister immediately.
“Hannah?” Minho appeared next to the leader, smiling fondly at the moment taking place right next to him.
“HANNAH?!” Six other voices yelled from the couch, and the three at the door could faintly hear the sound of footsteps racing to the door in padded socks.
Hannah giggled for a moment at her brother’s inevitable gushiness, squealing when she was suddenly on the floor, crushed by the weight of seven men at the same time.
“Get off, get off! I can’t breathe!” She gasped dramatically, shoving at her brother’s head and carefully patting Hannie’s at the same time.
Minho stood above the pile and laughed his sweet, honey-like laugh, helping Hannah up once the others got off of her and pulling her into his own embrace, rocking her side to side as he hummed.
After a while, he let go of her, and Hannah set down her bags.
“Um…yeah. I’m so happy to see you.” Chan laughed awkwardly, covering his face as he sniffled.
“Ugh, always so emotional, bro.” Hannah rolled her eyes, smiling anyway and pulling him into yet another hug.
Jeongin and Jisung both grabbed her bags to take to the guest room, while Minho started up the stove to cook lunch.
After lunch, all the boys were itching to spend time with Hannah, especially Chan.
“How about we play some board games?” He slapped his own thighs and stood to grab some from the cabinet, while everyone arranged in a circle around him.
Hannah smiled fondly as she listened to her brother humming ‘perfect blues’ while reaching for a multitude of different boxes.
“Here we go!” Chan placed at least ten boxes on the floor in front of them.
“That’s so many games! Will we even get to finish them?” Jisung doubled over in giggles.
“I mean, we could if we tried.” Hyune interrupted.
“Let’s play…Jenga?” Hannah asked in her thick Australian accent.
Eight men choked at the same time, and Hannah stared at them suspiciously. “What?”
“Oh, nothing.” Minho responded, failing to notice how red his ears had become.
“Hmm…we should set a punishment for whoever loses.” Hannah smiled. Everyone exchanged glances of nervousness. “We’ll just decide later.”
A few rounds into the game, the stakes were high, everyone was in full concentration.
Chan nervously watched Minho pull out a block, worry painted on his features as he pulled one out next.
Jisung slowly pulled, but realized he made a grave mistake the second the tower tilted. It was like time had slowed down, and the blocks fell, scattering everywhere.
Hannie blinked twice, and the room fell silent.
“Get him!”
There was a scramble, poor Hannie screeching for mercy as he was grabbed and pinned to the floor.
“Wanna know what we do as a punishment ‘round here, Hannah?” Minho grinned, and Jisung was begging, squealing as every limb was pulled out and away from his body, exposing his vulnerable torso and thighs, which Minho happily took a seat on.
“What’s that?” Hannah responded, watching with amusement as Jisung pleadingly looked at her with his round boba eyes wide open, pupils dilated.
“This.”
Hands descended all over poor Hannie’s body, scribbling and pinching at his waist, armpits, sides, tummy…anywhere the boys’ fingers could reach, really.
Jisung screamed, arching his back as helpless laughter began to pour from his lips, cheeks flushing an embarrassed pink.
“Awhh, he’s so ticklish!” Hannah giggled, watching Jisung squeal and throw his body to the left when a hand massaged into his ribs on the right.
“Trust me, they’re all ticklish.” Minho motioned to the whole group.
“YOUHU TOOO!!” Jisung screeched with laughter, squeezing his eyes shut with a huge smile. He let out a helpless plea when Hannah began to squeeze at his left side from her spot behind him.
“STAAAHAHAHAA—!!” Poor Jisung pleaded, the sensations were especially horrible as her nails massaged into his very slightly pudgy skin.
“Yah, Hannah. Use your nails on him; drives him crazy.” Changbin suggested from his spot holding the quokka’s arms hostage.
“Well, if he’s okay with it.” Hannah looked down at Jisung for confirmation, smiling as the boy squeezed his eyes shut with a nod.
Minho held down Jisung’s hips while Hannah straddled him, untucking his shirt and slipping her cold hands up to his tummy, pressing gently to warn him, pulling a loud squeal from the boy beneath her. “I barely even did anything!” She protested.
“Ihit stihill tickled!!” Hannie admitted with a smile. Hannah shook her head before she started, suddenly tickling the expanse of his tummy with one hand while her other hand found the skin of his side and squeezed.
More and more hands joined on his sides and armpits, and Jisung was howling, bucking his hips and arching his back the highest he could before slamming it back down, shaking his head before slamming it down onto Changbin’s thigh in desperation.
“AGHAAAHAHAHAAH YOUR NAILS YOUR NAHAILS OHO MY GAHHAAHAHAA—!!” Jisung babbled incoherently, loud laughter and strangled squeals escaping his throat as he struggled.
“Aweee…Channie remember when we got him with Binnie that one time in the studio a long time ago? He’s still the same, ticklish Sung he was.” Hannah smiled fondly, memories flashing in her eyes.
Poor Hannie turned so red. He really couldn’t handle the teasing.
“Take it, Hannie, this is your punishment.” Minho laughed, causing Jisung to laugh even harder.
Hannah let up after his laughter went silent, smoothing down his shirt gently and wiping away the small tears resting on the boy’s shirt.
“Youhu guys are bruhatal…” Jisung panted, letting out a small whine when Hannah brushed a tear off of his neck.
“Not our fault you’re so ticklish.” Seungmin scoffed.
“Well, now that we’ve finished that game, let’s try something else.” Chan set the Jenga blocks aside to pull another box from below the pile.
“How about Uno?” He smiled seemingly innocently at Felix, who stuck his tongue out at him.
“Sure.” Hannah shrugged, dealing the cards and setting a starting card.
The game mostly continued in an orderly fashion, a few uno’s here and there along with the maknaes’ cheer for victory as the two won.
Soon enough, it was all down to Jisung and Felix, and Jisung sure as hell was not planning on losing again.
“Don’t even—” Felix gasped as a +4 card landed on the pile between the two, the older chirping out a little “Uno!” in between.
He had lost.
Jisung cheered, the other members laughing at the pure shock on Lix’s face.
“Wait wahait—!!” Felix squealed when he was pulled down, trapped in the same way Jisung had been.
Hannah once again took her place on his thighs, making sure to check if the boy was comfortable.
“Please…please no.” He begged breathlessly, gasping when he felt a hand snake up his thigh to his hip. “Please…Jinnie.” He pleaded, the dancer only ramping up his anticipation.
“Sorry, Bbokki.” Was all that came from Hyunjin before Felix felt fingers. Everywhere.
Some scribbled over his underarms mercilessly, while the others mainly attacked his sides, knowing it was a weak spot on him.
“NAAAHAHAHAHA!!” Felix descended into screechy, incoherent laughter.
Hannah only laughed, forcing Felix’s cheeks to turn a flustered shade of red. “You’re just as ticklish as Ji, aren’t you?”
Felix squeezed his eyes shut and shook his head and laughed loudly, anything to drown Hannah’s voice out.
More and more hands than he could handle began to run up his sides and down his thighs.
Felix’s eyes snapped open in horror as he could feel an embarrassing amount of laughter bubble up in his throat.
“P-Pleahease…nonoNO FUHUHUHUHUCK!!” He screamed, twisting side to side as more laughter choked up inside him.
Hannah spidering his tummy with her nails certainly wasn’t helping matters, the almond shape of them adorned with smooth polish that glided over his skin made him feel like he would ascend any second.
“PLEHEHEHEASE AGHAAHAHAAHAA I CAHAHAN’T I CAN’T TAHAHA—PLEASE NOHO!!—” Lixie’s sentences dissolved into incoherence when Hannah mischievously dipped her index finger into his belly button, swirling around with her nail in a torturous way that had him throwing his head back onto Changbin’s lap and screaming out pleas for mercy.
“sTAAHAHAAHAHAPP!!” He shrieked, loud laughter following. “OKAHAY OKAY EHEHENOUGHH!!”
Hands let up for the second time that day, gently rubbing over the spots they had tickled and soothing the poor boy beneath them.
“You ahall suhuck.” Felix choked, panting for the oxygen that had left his lungs, rubbing his hands over his sides to ease the tingly feeling.
“Let’s play Phase 10!!” Changbin cheered. “Really? Another card game?” Seungmin scoffed, earning a “Yah!” from the dwaekki.
“But I suck at Phase 10!!” Chan protested. “Guess you’re losing, then.” Felix laughed. He was hungry for revenge after his previous wrecking.
The game continued, Chan obviously losing; he wouldn’t stop whining about it. “This is so unfair, I’m gonna lose!”
And he lost. Of course he did.
Chan let go and just gave in while Changbin grabbed his arms with a grin. “This is gonna be so bad!”
“Get ready, bro.” Hannah cackled maniacally, throwing Chan’s shirt up with a flourish.
“Please go easy!” Channie pleaded, squeezing his eyes shut when he saw his sister’s nails wiggling over his belly.
“No way! This is too good of an opportunity.” Minho replied ecstatically, placing his hands on the leader’s left ribcage, Jisung following on the right.
“Oh god…” Channie whimpered, feeling two hands on each of his armpits and thighs.
“Three...” Hannah counted, “Twooo…Oneeee….Go!”
Chan screamed as hands kneaded all over his body, thrashing crazily as nails spidered over his tummy.
“Hyung, we’re being gentle!” Minho laughed, softly kneading the skin beneath his fingertips.
“How about let’s not?” Changbin asked, everyone nodding even though they could clearly hear the eldest’s protests and pleas.
The hands only squeezed faster, Hannah smiling fondly down at her brother as his cheeks puffed in a wide smile, dimple showing as he let out more gaspy laughter.
“YAHAAHHAH!! IHIM YOUHOUR HYUNG!!” He shrieked.
“Awhhh, you’re just as ticklish as when we were younger.” Hannah smiled, Chan’s face burning red at the memories of her tickling him silly as a child.
“SHUHUHUT AHAHAHAHAP!!” He screamed over her voice.
“But, I remember you loooved being tickled, isn’t that right?” She grinned maniacally down at her tomato of a brother.
“PLEHEHEHEHEASEE!!”
“Now if I remember correctly, your worst spot was…” She pondered for a moment before evilly placing her hands onto his sides, causing his tummy to twitch.
“Awh, your body’s being honest, how cute.” She teased, motioning to Changbin to tighten his grip on her older brother’s wrists, ensuring no escape for his outstretched torso.
“Hannah…please please please don’t!” Chan pleaded. “Nohoho—AHAHA SHIHIHIHIT!!” He gave up immediately, surrendering to his own laughter and pleas for mercy.
“HAHAHAHANNAHH!!” Poor Channie wailed, her fingers spidering up and down the bare skin, pinching gently and scribbling.
“PLEASE PLEHEHEHEASE AHAHAAHAHA!!”
“Fine fine, you’re still the ticklish baby you were.” Hannah laughed, Changbin following by releasing his arms.
“Awhh, Chan hyung the ticklish baby.” Minho mocked in a cute tone, regretting it immediately with a shriek as Chan pounced onto him.
“Fuck the games, I’ll just wreck you right here in front of everyone.” Chan sneered, settling on Min’s hips but struggling immensely as the younger thrashed around crazily.
“I’ll help.” Changbin approached the wrestling boys, earning loud screams from the middle.
“Oh, Minho’s ticklish?” Hannah asked. “NO I’M NOT—CHAAAN!!” Minho squealed as a finger plunged into his belly button, wiggling around ticklishly and causing the dancer to screech.
“NO! CHAN NONONO LET ME GO!!” Minho choked, face burning bright red as he struggled to hold his laughter in.
“Watch this.” Chan ducked his head next to Minho’s belly. Poor Min screamed and used his hands to shove at Chan’s face while his legs kicked out at Changbin.
The rapper swiftly grabbed his foot and threw his shoe off, scribbling five fingers up Minho’s small sole.
The dancer crumbled into laughter, giggles pouring out of him as he weakened considerably, allowing Changbin to snatch his arms while Chan tickled along his belly.
“Nohoho thihis is soho uhunfair!!” Minho slumped, giving up completely. Everyone gathered around him and placed their hands somewhere along his body.
“Nohoho…” Minho gasped, shuddering as the hands on his sides snuck up his shirt and rested on his bare skin.
Hannah set his head on her lap and held her nails above his neck, establishing the fact that it was a deadly weapon.
“Three…Two…One!!” Chan yelled, ducking his head down to blow a loud, wet raspberry onto the dancer’s v-line.
Minho dissolved into messy cackles, his cute laughter bouncing off of the room as he giggled at the feeling of smooth nails gliding down his neck, along with fingers wiggling up and down his whole body in that torturously gentle way the others had learned drived him crazy.
“PLEHEHEHEHEASE STOHOHOHOP UGHHH I CAHAHANT BREHEHEHEATHEEE!!” Minho laughed, squeezing his eyes shut and twisting sharply as a finger latched onto a sensitive spot on his upper rib, scratching gently and almost sending the dancer into a frenzy.
“Break time!” Jisung cried, letting up with a flourish as Minho crashed onto the floor in exhaustion.
“aghaaa…thahat was so bahad…” Minho gasped, wrapping his arms around himself.
“Hyunjinnie~” Hannah teased. She felt…weird somehow? As if tickling the others was the only thing able to satiate that burning hunger in her stomach.
Hyunjin gasped. “No…no. Hannah DON’T!!” He squealed when she pinned him down with her hands, going wild on his sides and watching him howl immediately, squirming away from her tickling fingers fruitlessly.
“NOOHOHO STOHOHOP IHIT TIHIHICKLES SOHO BAHAHAD!” Hyunjin pleaded, screaming in betrayal as Changbin pinned his arms up yet again, leaving his torso free for seven pairs of tickling fingers to attack.
“STAHAHAHAHHAHHAAA!!” Hyunjin broke, squealing incoherently and squeaking out pleas for mercy.
“Aweee~” Hannah cooed, making Hyunjin flush a bright red in response.
“YOUHUHU CAHAHAHANT DOHO THIS TO MEHEHEHEE!!” Hyunjin screeched, suddenly letting out a scream when Hannah stuck a finger into his belly button.
“AAAAHHH STOHOHOHOP!!”
Hannah in fact…didn’t stop. Hands only sped up against him, reducing poor Hyune to an absolute mess, incoherent pleas pouring from him and legs kicking out desperately behind him.
“AHHAA— stohohohohop PLEHEHEHEHAHAGAHHA!!” He babbled, finally giving in, throwing his head back and laughing and laughing.
“Okay, everyone I think he’s done.” Hannah squinted, letting up with her nails as everyone detached their fingers from his sensitive torso.
Hyune whined, soothing hands rubbing all over his sides and tummy to calm him down.
“Binnie next!!” Felix shouted, pouncing onto the surprised rapper, who shouted as Hyunjin immediately regained his breath and ran to help Felix.
Entwining his long fingers with Binnie’s small ones, Chan was immediately able to yank his arms up halfway, but struggled to pin them properly.
“Yah!! Innie, help.” Chan grunted, the maknae scrambling over to assist his hyung.
Soon enough, Changbin was pinned down appropriately, groaning when his shirt was pulled from its neat tuck.
“Please go easy!” He gasped when a finger stroked up his belly.
“Awhh, how cute. Look, he’s already turning red.” Chan cooed, pointing at the blush sneaking up poor Changbin’s face.
“Shut up….” Binnie mumbled in embarrassment.
“Awe, he wants us to shut up. So how about we just…don’t?” Felix shrugged.
Hannah laughed hard as Changbin screamed, hands descending along every spot on his body and wiggling along his squishy skin.
“STOHOHOHOHOP, YOU BRAHAHAHATS!!” He shrieked when Jeongin and Seungmin took turns tickling their fingers up one thigh at a time.
“You’re so strong normally, Bun. Look how you’re so weak and blushy just ‘cause of a little tickling~” Minho teased, watching as right on time like clockwork, Changbin’s face turned a familiar shade of pink.
“Look, so strong, but blushing so hard just because of a few teases.” Chan sighed with a smile, earning a high pitched, flustered, squeal from the boy beneath him.
“AHAA—FELIX NOHOHO!!” Changbin pleaded when Felix pulled his shirt up slightly. Hannah ran over to place his head in her lap.
“Nah. I wanna.” Felix grinned, leaning his head down slowly to listen to Binnie’s embarrassed begging, before latching righhht onto the lower part of his tummy.
Hannah made sure Chan and Minho had their grip on Changbin’s arms before she went crazy with her nails all over his armpits.
Binnie let out an glass shattering scream, thrashing around harder than he ever had before stilling completely and letting out a plethora of joyful laughter, mainly cute cackles.
“P-PLEHEHEHEHEHAHAAHAAA—” And then his laughter was silent. Dead silent.
Felix let up after that one raspberry, knowing that if he continued, he’d probably kill the rapper underneath him.
“It was one raspberry, Bunny!” Minho laughed in disbelief at the way Changbin slumped bonelessly the second they had let go of his limbs.
“Jeongin, Jeongin!!” Seungmin cheered, pulling him down and pinning him properly.
“Wait wait wait—NO!!” Jeongin kicked out at the pairs of arms coming to pin him down.
He finally succumbed, allowing Hannah to place his head on her lap, as normal.
“Plehease…go easy.” Jeongin pleaded gently.
“Okay, then neck tickles for two minutes.” Chan proposed.
“No way! That’s longer than everyone else!!” Jeongin protested.
“Yeah, but soft tickles.”
“Fine.” Jeongin sighed, waiting for Hannah’s nails to finally come down onto his oh-so-sensitive neck.
He whimpered as a nail traced down the area, squeaking when he felt another hand suddenly trail down his tummy. “Yohohu sahaid—!!”
“Shhh…” Hannah shoothed him, feeling the way his body jolted as more hands began trailing down his body.
“Ahahahagah I cahahahant tahahake thihihis!! Ihihits tohohohorture!!” Jeongin giggled, twisting aggressively away from the tickly tracing.
“Juhuhuhust go rohohough alreheady!”
“Fine.”
Hands scribbled down every single tickle spot, Hannah’s nails included on his neck.
Being the ticklish maknae he was, Jeongin crumbled instantly. “PLEHEHEHEASE!! NOHOHOT THE NAHAHAHAILS!!”
“Too bad.”
Jeongin squealed once and then his laughter was gone. Normally, he’d last longer, but with eighty fingers? Done.
“Okahay…” The others let up, consoling the poor boy as he gasped for air.
“Hmhmhm~” Seungmin stood up and began to walk out of the room, trying to seem casual by humming a tune.
“Seungmin?~” He heard Hannah’s voice.
Shit.
“Get him!” Seungmin tried to run, but was immediately taken down by the eight pairs of arms wrapped around him, Changbin slightly weaker because of his previous wrecking.
“Please! You don’t have to—AAAAHH!!” Seungmin didn’t even get a chance to explain. All the members had increasing lee moods from the amount of wreckings that had already happened, and were now taking it out on him.
“please…NOOHOHOHOHO!!” He dissolved into loud laughter the moment he felt eighty fingers wiggling over his sensitive spots.
Hannah seated herself on his thighs. “Oh, Minnie? Ya know, when me and your sis were on call together, she let slip a smalll weak spot of yours~”
Seungmin’s eyes widened in horror.
“How about righttt…here?” She dipped her index finger right into his belly button.
“AAAAHHHH!!” Everybody flinched.
“PLEHEHEHEHEASE IHI CAHANT TAHAKE IHIT IN THERE—AGH!!” Hannah squished along the small button, scraping her nail along the side and listening to Seungmin’s hysterical squeals.
“I don’t think I’ve ever heard Seungmin laugh this hard.” Chan noticed. Jeongin laughed. “Yeah, I think nails are his weakness.”
“STOHAAHAAHAAA!!” Seungmin pleaded weakly, laughter already cutting out into silence.
“Okay, he looks like he’s gonna faint.” Hannah pulled her finger out, making sure not to accidentally poke the button on the way.
Exhausted, everyone sat down, Jeongin gently calming a giggly Seungmin.
“We didn’t even get to play the board games.” Chan gestured to them defeatedly.
“But, because of them, now I know how much you guys love tickling.” Hannah shrugged, prompting loud, embarrassed noises from each member.
“Please. I saw how happy y’all were to tickle each other, and I’m not blind.” She smiled loftily.
friday was a shock, huh? i've known for a while, but it was still… something
god, i don’t even know how to begin this.
i've had my notes app open since friday, typing and deleting things over and over again because it feels like no words can properly express what this feeling is, so forgive me if this sounds… messy
i wanted to come on here and comfort you guys sooner, but i have to admit there was a selfish part of me that thought i don’t need to come on here and talk to you because i'm hurting, too.
but that isn’t fair to you who was given no warning to the situation
these past few nights, i've staying up pretty late, thinking to myself.
i thought maybe i should have tried harder to convince him to stay. i thought there could have been something i could have done to get him to extend even just a little bit.
i was angry with him, you know? i thought, he’s my leader, my brother, and one of the 2 people who knows exactly what i'm going through. we built this little support system, him, donghyuck oppa, and i. so why was he leaving us?
but, once again, that was just me being selfish.
mark oppa’s spent more than half his life dedicating himself to nct and to sm, switching constantly between dream, 127, u, and even superm, then he debuted solo.
he's been such a vital part of every project he’s worked on that i'm pretty sure he’s the reason behind all of its success.
i can confidently say that he’s the strongest person i know, being able to give 200% of himself to each and every thing he does.
so he deserves to choose what he wants to do next, you know?
out of every single person on this earth, oppa may be one of the most hard working ones, so he should be able to pick the path he’ll continue on.
sometimes i forget that we’re adults now. in my head, i’m still thirteen, he’s still fourteen, and it was just yesterday he had convinced me to dance freestyle with him within the first ten minutes of meeting each other for the first time.
he’s always been like that. someone dependable. someone warm. someone who takes the lead. someone who helps others, whether he knows it or not.
that never changed, but i watched him as we got older. i saw him be at his happiest, fall in love, get confused, burn out, lose his spark, and push through everything with a smile on his face.
now he’s discovered what he wants for himself.
and I’m happy for him. I genuinely am happy for him.
and I hope everyone is, too.
trust me, this wasn’t an easy decision to make. he spoke with each member of dream and 127. then again in groups as dream, and as 127.
i watched him come home everyday when he was still contemplating it. it weighed on him a lot, there was only one other time where i had seen him that weary.
but, he came to this decision, and i honestly can say that i'm relieved for him now.
after getting my initial anger and selfishness out of the way, i realized that this would be good for him. i trust that he knows what he needs best out of anyone.
but that doesn’t change the fact that he’s been with us for over a decade, okay?
nct’s mark will live on through the music he’s created and the memories he’s made.
and, as the letters nct stays behind and cheers him on, mark will continue to move forward and go off on his own adventure with this past decade tucked in a jacket pocket close to his heart.
as for Mark oppa…
i've already sent him my own personal letter, and i talked to him quite a lot these past few days
we want you to know that, above anything else, before he is my leader, my rap mentor and my favorite senior in the industry, he is my brother.
that’s something that will never change, as he’s told me many times.
so this isn’t the last you’ll see of him, i promise.
we may not be performing together, but you can be sure that I’ll still be bothering him with trivial matters
like not having a good place to eat
or accidentally slamming my forehead into the cupboards that he won’t be reminding me to close anymore.
so don’t worry, okay? cry.
you can cry.
this all came so suddenly for you, and i'm sorry for that. let it all out now.
but remember, this will be good for him, okay? and he won’t just disappear.
he’s healthy, on his way to reaching the vision of himself he wants, and that’s what matters.
please shine a lot of love on him and on NCT Dream and 127 as well.
and kindly give us some time.
mark oppa, as we all know, was a pivotal part of nct’s sound. we’re still learning to adjust to what it would be like without him.
but we’re all working hard to show you the best versions of ourselves that we can.
warning/s: overworking, talking about mark's graduation
notes from cia: i'm finally back! watch me attempt to catch everything up to now even though the main timeline's still in 2018 💀 anyway, dialogues in italics are spoken in english

hannah has a mini crisis over her identity as dream's hannah and 127's hannah
“Jeno!” Hannah laughed at Jeno’s sigh of relief when he saw her appear in front of him.
“Hannah, Thank God! Doyoung hyung, Mark hyung, and Haechan, they’re all making me sing their–”
“So fly, so hot,” Hannah sang into her mic, effectively interrupting Jeno, before placing her mic right in front of his mouth. Jeno gave her a look while continuing her lines, laughing while mouthing the words with him to help guide him.
“That was not cool,” he sighed while shrugging his coat off as soon as another member of 127 started singing.
“It was funny,” she smiled at him as his coat ended up resting on her shoulders and around her. She pulled it tighter around her, blocking the October air from reaching her skin through her short and thin clothes.
The company had decided to dress her in a short green velvet dress over a sheer chiffon black button down rather than a black shirt and green velvet suit like the rest of NCT 127. The company said something about capitalizing on her feminine charms to stand out from BTS who, although do make a point of making it known Miya was a girl, dress their female member simply in line with the concept
This was a decision she was all for because she loved the outfits they pitched for her for Regular, but her members were right when they pointed out she’d have to face the autumn elements.
“Any more laughs from you,” Jeno secured his coat at her front, “and I’m taking away your source of warmth.”
“You wouldn’t do that.”
Jeno shook his head, looking towards the rest of the members. “No, I wouldn’t. Hey, are you sleeping in the Dream dorms tonight? Because, well, Jaemin said he wanted to try cooking something and needed to know the head count before we come home. Renjun said you’d be there, but you didn’t tell me?”
“Hold that thought,” she patted his cheek before looking towards Mark, who made his way to her.
The two roommates successfully sandwiched Jeno in between their rap part, getting him to dance along with them. Jeno couldn’t do anything when Haechan came and blocked him from behind, trapping him between the three Dream/127 members.
Never once did the smile disappear from Hannah’s face. Yes, getting first place with 127 was amazing, but the energy was just different when she was surrounded by Dream. Like Johnny had noted, the aura of the three 127 maknaes changed whenever they were in Dream. For her, Dream has always been her home.
The lights in the practice room buzzed faintly above Hannah’s head, casting a dim glow over the glossy floor. She was sprawled across the center of the practice room floor, pulse racing as she finished running through the choreography for both “Simon Says” and “Regular” despite still promoting just the latter song. The pressure she felt months ago was starting to build up once again. How is it that she’s done technically two Korean 127 comebacks, a Japanese one, and is preparing for another Korean comeback when she hasn’t even been in 127 for a year yet.
But there was something else. It felt like something in her was shifting, and she didn’t know if she liked it.
When she did “Touch”, it felt natural to her because it fit in with the usual playful demeanor she had adapted to while performing with Dream. It was comfortable. Even “Regular” had a bit of that playfulness as well, but in a cooler way. When it came to “Simon Says”, well, each sharp movement matched with the cold stares she had been instructed to give started to make her wonder if she’d lose that bit of whimsy that she was fond of from growing up with Dream.
A soft knock on the door pulled her out of her thoughts. Without waiting for a reply, Jaemin slipped inside, his usual bright smile dimmed as he took in her exhausted form.
“Hey,” he sat down next to her sprawled out form, lightly patting her stomach, “Mark hyung said you weren’t home yet, so I decided to come check on you. Why are you still here?”
“Just getting some extra practice in,” she murmured, eyes closing for a moment.
Jaemin looked at her, observing her carefully. He knew something was taking up her ,ind, which was probably why she was constantly in the practice room. Though it wasn’t as bad as it was a few months ago, it was still concerning.
“Mhmm, like yesterday, and every day in the past week.” Jaemin gently pulled on her arm to have her sit up and cross her legs so they could face each other. “What’s up, Little Na? And don’t lie to me, we’ve known each other for long enough. I can tell there’s something in that pretty little head of yours bothering you.”
She gave him a tight-lipped smile as he poked her in the middle of her forehead. “I don’t know, Nana. I used to be so worried about not fitting in with the 127 oppas, you know? But now that I’ve been mostly working with them this year, and everyone’s telling me that I’m slipping into the mold easily, I’m kinda… scared?”
“Scared of what?”
“That I’m losing my whimsy. The part of me that makes me fit in with Dream.”
There was a brief moment of silence where Hannah’s words sunk into both of them. Then, without warning, Jaemin thumped Hannah on the side of her head.
“What the hell, Jaemin?!”
“You’re overthinking again,” he shook his head, a small smile on his face. “Hannah, you’re still you, you know that, right? Just because you’re broadening your concepts doesn’t mean you can’t do the old ones. It’s like us doing “Go” then “We Go Up”. Besides, Fans love you as Hannah, whether you’re being cute or cool or chic or whatever. Besides, glare at the camera and wear all the leather you want, Czennies will still find you cute.”
She rolled her eyes, laughing a little. “Now you’re just making fun of me.”
“Always,” he smiled before grabbing her hand, squeezing it. “But if you feel like this, don’t take it out on yourself like this, okay? Talk to us. We’re right here.”
This earned a nod from her.
“Good.” Jaemin stood up then helped her up as well. “Now let’s get you back to your dorm before Mark hyung starts to worry. Well, more than he already is.”
It was dark in the Lee siblings dorm when Hannah was dropped off by Jaemin, but the faint smell of re-heated dumplings met her as soon as she stepped through the door. She dropped her bag by the coffee table in the common area and looked up to find Mark hunched over his laptop on the dining table, already dressed for bed in his sweats and a random shirt, and hair messy like he’s been running his hands through his hair. His phone was propped up against a bottle of water next to his laptop, and his earphones were on.
As she walked towards him, he looked up. His eyebrows furrowed before he glanced towards his phone.
“Give me a second, Hannah just arrived.” He paused for a moment as if waiting for a response before looking up at Hannah and removing one of his earphones. “Hey, Hans. You’re back late. You okay?”
“I’m good, just practiced a bit more. You talking to Yoonmi?” Hannah tried to distract Mark, noticing his concerned look.
“Yeah,” Mark turned his phone so Hannah could wave to the younger girl. “She’s saying to tell you to eat and drink electrolytes. I have dumplings for you in the microwave.”
She smiled and walked to the kitchen, the sounds of Mark talking to his girlfriend fading to the background as she approached the microwave, grabbing a pair of disposable chopsticks and just taking the disposable tray of dumplings, not bothering to transfer them to a proper plate. She couldn’t be bothered to wash dishes tonight.
When she stepped out of the kitchen, she found Mark sitting on the couch expectantly, gadgets turned off, and a space next to him that she knew he cleared out for her. She sighed, moving to sit next to him and putting a dumpling in her mouth.
“Weren’t you talking to your girlfriend?”
“We were on call,” Mark began, pouring Hannah a cup of water, “for an hour and a half. That’s about two hours since we left the practice room. You’ve been pushing yourself too hard Hans. Again.”
His words, though not much behind them, seemed to hit her hard. Maybe it was the fact that the one who matched her perfectionism was calling her out?
“I don’t know,” she mumbled in between bites. “I’ve been a little worried lately. The more everyone says I’ve adapted to 127, the more I feel like I’m losing Dream’s Hannah. Is that weird?”
Mark shook his head, draping an arm behind her on the couch and lightly patting her head, a rare display of brotherly affection. “It’s not weird. It’s not completely the same, but I’ve been having thoughts along those lines.”
She looked up at him in surprise. “You have?”
He just nodded, staring at the wall like he was deep in thought. “I’m about to graduate from Dream. Dream has been my first team since SM Rookies. We were even supposed to Debut before 127. It’s always been my default home, but now? It feels a little like I’m leaving it behind.”
That was unexpected. Mark has never really opened up that easily to her, taking his role as her pseudo-older brother seriously. But for him to admit that to her… It must have been weighing on his mind for a while. And she didn’t even notice.
“I don’t want you to go,” she whispered, barely audible.
His hand moved to rest on her shoulder. “I don’t want to leave, either.”
They stayed like that for a while—no words, no pressure to fix anything. Just the quiet comfort of knowing they weren’t alone in their fears.
After a minute or so of silence and quietly comforting each other, Mark let out a soft laugh. “You do know Johnny hyung’s gonna get all naggy now that you’re overworking yourself again, right?”
A laugh slipped from her as well as she leaned her head on his shoulder. “Doie oppa already chewed my ear off last week when he dragged me out of the practice room. It was 8PM, it wasn’t even that late!”
“Also look at this,” Mark showed her his phone holding messages from Taeyong, all variants of asking if she’s eaten or rested.
“Ugh,” she gave a playful groan, “127 is just a bunch of dads.”
“Only because the hyungs care,” Mark laughs.
The truth of the statement settled in her, easing the ache in her chest by just a bit. Sure, she still had her worries about the inevitable change, but it was okay. She had Dream and 127 by her side.

00z lives 2018 vs. 2020
in the 2018 live when talking about spoilers, hannah and haechan both started doing the same choreography, so jeno stopped haechan while jaemin stopped hannah.
they exchanged a look then continued the choreo, so jeno shoved haechan off the chair while jaemin pulled hannah onto his lap, acting like a straight jacket
(then moments later spoiling choreo again while dancing to chewing gum until renjun shoved them both away)
in the 2020 live, hannah and haechan explained the iphone macbook bit to jeno, then haechan reached over her to pinch jeno’s ears while hannah poked his side.
jeno just pinched haechan’s arm and started tickling her side, making them both start yelling

“no, but it really is weird seeing haechan being an oppa to hannah. he’s like a different person.”
2018 Taeyong Vlive
“haeeunie is my daughter, everyone. now that she’s in 127, i’ll be taking care of her more. but i don’t think i can ever beat haechannie. haechannie is our maknae, but he’s like a real oppa with our haeeunie. he avoids doing it on camera, but he always takes care of her very well. it’s sweet, if you think about it.”
2019 Chenle and Jisung live
jisung: “hannah noona and haechan hyung? they’re with the 127 hyungs right now, working very hard.”
chenle: “right. i feel so thankful to them for working hard for both 127 and dream. i feel sorry whenever i see them go from one schedule to another, it’s like they aren’t resting.”
jisung: “but they’re taking care of themselves for sure! haechan hyung especially makes sure hannah noona always eats and sleeps well”
chenle (imitating haechan): “haeeun-ah, time for lunch” “haeeun-ah, let’s go to bed, you need energy, okay?” “is our haeeunie okay? is she hurt? is she tired?”

“You good, Hans?”
Mark’s voice pulled Hannah back down to earth. As soon as he sat down next to her, she leaned into his side and glanced at Donghyuck, who stood a few steps away on the phone with Taeyong. She was the last of the three of them who’d be on the phone with him since they decided to go by age.
She groaned while pulling her hat down by the visor. Next to her, Mark was shuffling in his seat until he had his arm around her, lightly patting her shoulder.
“This isn’t fair,” she ran her hand down her face. “Is it so hard to say no to even just one event so we could have all come home yesterday?”
She could feel the 99-liner squeeze her shoulder, “You know how it is, Hans. Hyung knows, too.”
“We tried so hard,” she slumps further into his side, “and we don’t even get a glimpse of him in real life before he leaves!”
The two of them could only sit in silence after that. The three 127 maknaes had taken it upon themselves to rearrange their schedule in order to reach their leader’s send off, but they were beat.
That’s how they found themselves in Jeju.
The stress of trying to make it in time was something she didn’t think she’d ever go through. Months ago when their leader first told them he was enlisting, she thought she’d be right there with the rest of 127 (and maybe all of NCT) to send their leader off.
She didn’t expect to look at their managers’ itinerary only to find they wouldn’t even be in Korea on the day of.
“Hyung wants to know why his princess is pouting.”
“I’m not pouting,” Hannah looked up to glare at Donghyuck until she realized who was on the small screen looking at her. “Oppa!”
The older 00-liner snickered while handing her the phone and placing the bluetooth headphones over her ears. In her excitement to stand up, she elbowed Mark in the ribs.
“I gotta take this,” she jogged over to the isolated corner for a semblance of privacy then looked at the smiling man on the screen. “Boss! How are you? Are the oppas treating you okay? Did you get my present? Have you met any other people you’re entering with?”
“Calm down, Haeeunie,” Taeyong chuckled, “breathe. I’m alright, missing you kids. Everyone’s treating me the same, I haven’t really met anyone yet, and what present?”
A grin made its way to her face, “I snuck something into your backpack last week when I helped you pack some stuff.”
“I’m looking forward to it,” he smiled at her.
Seeing him smile pulled at something in her chest. She squeezed her eyes shut, slipping her sunglasses on. She did not want to cry in front of Taeyong, but it felt impossible to do. She went for the second best option: not letting him see.
“Hey,” Taeyong held his phone closer to his face so she could only see one of his eyes on the screen, “I want to see your face before I go.”
That did it. A tear escaped.
“Oh,” she sighed while taking off her hat and moving her sunglasses up her head to hold her hair back, “I hate that we’re not there with you!”
He gave her a sad smile once he held his phone at a normal angle again, “Don’t worry about it. We know how hard you three worked to get here, and I love you for it. You did everything you could, and that’s what matters, alright?”
“Alright,” her voice came out as a whisper. “I’m really sorry, Oppa.”
“Nothing to be sorry about, Haeeunie,” he reassured her. “I promise. And you know I don’t take my promises lightly, especially not with you.”
She bit her lip, nodding instead of talking. Talking would just make her cry harder. But Taeyong wasn’t done talking.
“You know what?” His tone brightened, “I’m going to make you another promise right now. After basic training, when I get my phone back, you’ll be the first person I call after my mom and my sister. Sound good?”
“Sounds great,” to her luck, her voice didn’t shake, “and I’ll have Hyuck and Markie with me.”
“Good, good,” Taeyong nodded.
Hannah smiled, “And you bet I’ll drop any schedule I have then and there and drag those two with me so we can talk to you.”
“Unfortunately, I don’t expect any less.”
“Unfortunately?”
“As your leader,” he shrugged with a mischievous smirk, “but, as one of your big brothers, I say have at it, Boss Lady.”
Laughs slipped past her lips, in time with his. “You better look out, oppa, because I’m planning on doing something to anger the company for not having the balls to reschedule or say no to one event.”
He grinned at her, “Can’t wait for you to tell me all about it. Don’t give your oppas too much grief.”
She was about to retort when a muffled voice caught Taeyong’s attention. His frown told her all she needed to know.
“How much time you got there?” she asked him.
“Not a lot,” he admitted, “but I’m gonna tell you what I need you to hear right now before I leave, okay?”
“Okay.”
“First of all,” he began, “it’s not your fault, okay? We can put the blame on the weather. Second, I miss you, and I’m going to miss you, but this’ll pass and either you’ll be able to visit me or I can go on leave. Watch over the boys, you know most of our brain cells rest in you. But also don’t forget to allow them to take care of you. I love you, Haeeunie, a lot.”
“I love you, too, Oppa,” she smiled at him, wiping away the tears that were starting to fall. “You stay safe. Don’t get sick, don’t get hurt.”
“I’ll try my best,” he nodded, “now go and get the other two with you so I can say bye to all of you!”
With a nod, she walked back to the two boys with her, sitting on Donghyuck’s lap and throwing her legs over Mark’s. She handed the phone to Mark, who turned the bluetooth off.
“You kids take care of each other,” Taeyong began with a smile. “I’ll see you when I see you. It won’t be too long.”
The three 127 maknaes said their goodbyes and watched as Taeyong clicked out of the call. They sat in silence for a few seconds, staring at the black screen.
That was it.
That was them sending their leader off. That was the first time they were sending off one of their big brothers, and this was how it ended.
“This isn’t fair,” she muttered, leaning her head on Donghyuck’s shoulder.
Her twin flame sighed, “It really isn’t.”
“It’ll be okay,” Mark gave her knee a squeeze. “Hyung knows we love him and that we’d do anything to be with him right know. He’ll be okay.”
Hannah’s sitting next to Taeyong in the beginning, and you see him looping their arms together while Doyoung explains what is going on
after mark clarifies if the groups are randomized, haechan speaks up “what about haeeunie?”
“nct’s princess has the privilege of choosing wherever she wants to sleep, which is why she has her in-ears with her already”
hannah cheers while showing off the box in her hand, “princess privilege!”
when jaehyun picks jisung you can hear her in the background “oh, that sounds like a nice room” (then haechan’s “no, haeeun-ah, me!”)
but when kun picked johnny, haechan yelled “no! that’s where she’s gonna go!”
everyone laughed as johnny and kun stood next to each other, johnny going “hannah’s korean and chinese dads”
the camera zooms in on hannah who gave a simple shrug and a smile
once doyoung was sure no one would switch rooms, he called hannah to the front
“right now, hannah is going to choose her roommates. drumroll please!”
17 pairs of hands started hitting the floor while hannah laughed
“plain and simple, everyone. mark and jaemin, you’re stuck with me”
the two boys got up and cheered to high five hannah while others (read: haechan, ten, jaehyun, yuta, jisung, and chenle) protested
that’s how the video cut off
#4 - The Roommates Part 3 _ MJH/JHJS/CW
hannah’s sitting on the small shelf behind mark and jaemin while mark starts the video, just smiling at them
“this is mark” “this is jaemin na” “...”
mark looked back at her while she just stared back “hans, say something” “hey, guys! i’m hannah!”
while jaemin and mark discuss them being a couple with their snapbacks, you see hannah walk behind them to sit on the bed
“hannah, for some unknown reason, wanted the foldable add-on bed, so she’s there” “it’s comfier!” “anyway, can you guess which bed is jaemin’s”
when mark told jaemin he was being over, she snorted
“please, mark. we had a solid thirty minute conversation about how jaemin would get in next to you or if we would share the foldable bed” “wait, really?”
then jaemin explained how he eventually got in bed while hannah still watched in amusement
jaemin pulled her over to his bed, and they shifted so she was resting in front of them and all three of their faces were in the screen
she gave a playful judgy look with jeno popping out behind jaemin and mark’s exaggerated shock
“and the answer to why our room is popular among the members is? Jeno-shi?” “the answer is lee hannah!”
jaemin laughed “true, actually”
then jeno explained the real reason why he was there
then mark was explaining the actual answer of why the members came, and you can see hannah look up in surprise when jeno gets on the bed and start pretending to put kisses on jaemin
when jaemin almost said what mark said that morning, hannah snorted and got up off the bed and back to hers on jaemin’s other side
you can see jeno plop himself on her bed, and she’s trying to shove him off, but he just kept plopping back onto her bed. mark and jaemin kept talking like nothing was happening
“good night! hans, say good night!” “good night! it will be once lee jeno gets off my bed!”
#5 - BEHIND THE STAGE
taeil starts of the video walking to hannah who was getting her makeup retouched and hands her a cup of what looks like coffee. she grinned while she took it
“hannah-yah, what are you doing?” “now? i’m getting touched up. oppa, how’s my makeup?” “pretty” he then taps her cheek and walks over to mark and winwin
the next cut you see of her is when mark and jaemin’s cakes are there the next day
kun goes “kids, hannah baked those cakes”
mark does a double take “what?” and jaemin looks at her in shock “you were with us in our room! you fell asleep before us”
she laughed, “i snuck out with kun baba and youngho oppa at like 2am, you guys were so tired you didn’t wake up”
“dude, thank you!” mark went over to her and gave her a quick side hug while jaemin just engulfed her “haeeun-ah! thank you for baking the cake haeeunie!”
and you just see her squirming to escape the hug when it got too long
#6 - ENDING STAGE ‘빛 (Hope)’ Selfcam FULL Ver.
she’s with yoona, minho, and mark on their cart, and while yoona and mark are waving to fans and smiling at the camera, you can see minho behind them making hannah jump with him, and she’s just laughing
at some point, she stood next to mark, and he put an arm around her while they sang along to the lyrics
haechan met them where they were going to get down and assisted her onto the stage
further down the video, you see her waving to a stage camera, then she looks around confused
bc surprise: she can’t find nct
kun appeared in the distance, and hannah ran straight to him, seemingly rapidly talking while taeil just smiled and nodded along all while walking her towards where the rest of nct were lining up for their bow

Not only did Mark and her manager somehow manage to buy breakfast from her favourite bakery (with the best apple tarts she knows), but she was also first in line for hair and makeup, which was the spot she always wanted because it gave her longer and undisturbed time to do what she wants before going to work. When she got to the van, Jeno and Jaemin had saved her her preferred seat despite the usual random seating arrangements they had.
Something was strange, but she didn’t quite know what was happening.
Even then, Hannah focused on working through the day as well as she could, especially because she was promoting with Dream. As much as she loved her 127 members, promoting with Dream always seemed less stressful. If it was because of many fans disliking the fact she was added into 127, she would never admit it. (It was.)
On the topic of comments from fans, Hannah absentmindedly pulled out her phone and opened her secret fan account. She was free until the live interview and stage anyway since rehearsals had already finished.
“Nope,” Renjun’s hand was quick to take her phone from her hand, “no way.”
She gave him a look, raising her eyebrow. “Injun, give me my phone back.”
“No can do, Hannah,” he lightly tapped her head with the corner of her phone then sat across from her, “because I know the things you look at whenever you pull that bird app out.”
She rolled her eyes at him and attempted to snatch her phone back, but he held it further from her. Her glare was met with a smug smirk.
Her friendship with Renjun had definitely evolved since their last comeback as NCT Dream. He was more quippy and less hesitant around her, and he took her teasing and snark with grace.
“You know,” she leaned forward like she was telling a secret, “we all know you just want to use my account to search for yourself.”
“Very funny,” Renjun deadpanned before shaking his head and handing her back her phone, “but, seriously. How many times do we all have to tell you not to look? Do you remember what happened just three months ago?”
“Not gonna happen again,” Hannah crossed her legs with a proud grin, “I’m way over that now.”
Renjun snorted at her, “I’d bet. With all the hyungs watching over you like hawks, I don’t think you can open your fan account or distance yourself again any time soon.”
She just laughed, throwing her feet on his lap, giving him a smile as he glared at her for it. Even then, Renjun placed his hands on her ankles, lightly drumming his fingers on her and humming We Go Up.
She leaned her head on the wall and closed her eyes, thinking about the past few months of training and promoting with the 127 members. It was a big change compared to how it was with the Dreamies.
On instinct, she would do her usual habits of making sure everyone had food and started eating before she would eat, cleaning and chiding when the others don’t clean, and discussing their schedules with managers among other habits, but the older members were quick to catch on to that.
Taeyong would tell her to leave the schedules and agenda to him, Jaehyun decided he would not take a bite of food until she started eating, Doyoung nagged her for nagging, and Johnny would actually physically pick her up to stop her mid-mom tendencies. Even Jungwoo, who started preparing with them for his 127 debut, would try to get her to not act too mature.
Not to mention Haechan stuck by her side the entire time, just hovering like he usually did. He always took those almost three months he was older than her by very seriously.
They all were attempting to baby her like how Jaemin or Haechan would, and it made her miss the casualness with the dreamies and being able to mother her two babies.
“Noona!”
Hannah opened her eyes to find Chenle running over to her. She took her legs off of Renjun so Chenle could pass and sit next to her.
“Yes?”
“You’re coming to my house today, right?” He gave her a hopeful smile. “You have to! The others said they’d come over. It’s for Chenji This and That!”
Hannah patted his cheek, “And what is this episode about?”
“We’re gonna try and cook for you guys,” he told her.
Hannah chuckled and leaned to give Chenle a kiss on the forehead, which he happily bent to receive.
“I wouldn’t miss it,” she smiled at him, “just as long as the managers know.”
“Jisung’s telling them right now!”
Just then, a stage manager knocked on the door and stuck his head in. “NCT Dream on standby! 15 minutes!”
“Thank you,” Mark bowed to the stage manager then turned to face everyone, “Alright guys, last hair and makeup check from the noonas then we go. We can do a quick stretch when we’re nearer to the stage.”
“You guys heard the man,” Hannah got up, pulling Chenle and Renjun up with her, “let’s go.”
The We Go Up stage was pre-recorded, so she didn’t need to worry about that. The 1,2,3 stage, on the other hand, was not pre-recorded. It was a strange situation since it was usually the other way around, but she just shrugged it off. Maybe it was the company’s newest wey of making sure the best performance if the title track is what the public sees.
Thankfully, the 1,2,3 stage was going well so far until the bridge where she peacefully sang her line and was going to kneel down like they all would so Haechan would have his Michael Jackson moment, but she felt herself being pulled into a hug.
To her surprise, Haechan had kept her standing with him and pinched her cheek while singing “saengil chukhahae!” instead of naega isseulkae.
She gave him a surprised look while muscle memory brought her back into the choreography. Some of their laughs sounded in her in-ears, meaning it was heard in the performance, but she didn’t mind. She didn’t even process the rest of the performance.
It was her birthday?
Somehow, she was able to dance on auto-pilot while mentally checking her calendar. It was the 4th. It was September 4th, her birthday. That’s why the boys were being extra nice to her.
The end of the song jostled out of her thoughts because, once again, instead of kneeling for the end like she usually would, multiple sets of hands kept her up, and she was brought into the centre of a group hug while Chenle changed a word for his last line, “Noona, just don’t move.”
She really couldn’t move, they were all squishing her in a hug, and she could feel Jaemin on his toes and rubbing his cheek on the top of her head. They started to topple over, making her laugh while she told everyone to get into position for We Go Up, which they’d still be dancing along to so the audience in the studio had something to watch.
The performance went by fast, and she gave the boys a look once they got backstage. Before she could say anything though, Mark yelled.
“1, 2, 3!”
The sound of six boys yelling the happy birthday song as all but Jeno, who had MC duties, followed her back into the green room, garnering some attention from staff and other idols around them.
The door opened, and she jumped back in surprise when confetti appeared and her manager carried a cake towards her. There was even a box of cupcakes on the table next to the door.
“Oh my god,” she laughed before gratefully accepting the cake and blowing out the candle, “I genuinely forgot what day it was today.”
“We know,” Jaemin hugged her from behind, “that was the goal.”
“That’s why we’re all going to Chenle’s house later,” Jisung grinned.
Renjun nudged the maknae while Chenle whacked his arm before looking at Hannah, “We wanted to cook for you because you always cook for us.”
“Let her breathe, guys,” Mark laughed and pried Jaemin off of her, “let the officially 19-year-old breathe.”
“Did you like my surprise?” Haechan asked her, making her turn around to face him.
She kicked him in the shin, “I was surprised! You didn’t warn me, I probably looked stupid!”
While Haechan overdramatically held his leg and complained about the pain, she just sighed and looked at everyone.
“Thank you guys, I really appreciate this.”
“Yeah, don’t get sappy on us,” Renjun stuck his finger into her cake’s frosting and rubbed it on her nose. A silence passed between everyone as they watched Hannah blink slowly and hand the cake to a now quiet Haechan who was watching with wide eyes.
“Hwang Renjun, you have three seconds to run,” she, much to the staff’s dismay, grabbed a cupcake and started running after Renjun who yelled and ran away from her and down the hallway.
“You said I have three seconds!” “I counted three seconds!”
The rest of the boys watched in amusement before turning to Chenle.
“Not the distraction I was hoping for,” he began, “but more entertaining for sure. Haechan hyung, you keep Noona unsuspicious. Jaemin hyung, you have everyone’s gifts, right? Can you message Jeno hyung and remind them to keep those hidden? Mark hyung, you’re on vlog duty, and Renjun hyung, too, when he comes back hopefully alive. Jaemin hyung, Jisung, and I will go ahead to set everything up.”
The five boys nodded at each other, ready for their surprise for Hannah.
“When I said keep Noona unsuspicious, I didn’t mean blindfold her.”
Chenle’s voice reached Hannah’s ears the moment the car doors opened. She snorted at the younger boy’s accusatory tone and the following sounds of Haechan defending himself.
A hand that she immediately recognized as Jeno’s due to their matching pinky rings held hers as he assisted her out of the car. She missed a step, making her stumble forward. An extra set of hands caught her, taking place on her waist as they steadied her.
“Careful, Little Na,” Jaemin’s voice spoke from right in front of her. “We don’t want the birthday girl getting hurt.”
“Maybe if you guys took this blindfold off,” she poked forward, smirking when she felt Jaemin’s chest and heard his small grunt of surprise.
A chuckle from next to her caught her attention, making her snap her head in that direction. Mark.
“As you guys can see,” Mark explained, likely talking to a camera as a different pair of hands took hers from Jeno, “Hannah has absolutely no clue what is going on, and Chenle is somehow guiding her while walking backwards without tripping.”
“It’s his house,” she could imagine Jeno shrugging.
She just shook her head in amusement and focused on where her feet was going, following Chenle’s quiet directions of where to place her steps.
The sound of the door opening was immediately followed by the smell of Chinese food filling her senses. It seemed a lot compared to what she originally thought her two kids were going to cook.
Suddenly, she could hear Jisung’s hushed whispers speaking to Chenle. The latter let go of her hands while someone—she assumed Jisung— stood by her side.
“You’re gonna love this, Noona,” Jisung looped his arm through hers and brought her a few steps forward.
“I know I will,” she laughed, “I can smell food that I didn’t think you two would think of cooking.”
“About that,” he sounded sheepish, “we actually didn’t cook you food. We have a different birthday surprise.”
With that, Jisung gently tugged her blindfold off. She was met with Chenle’s couch filled with toys and small clothes. She looked at it confused as her eyes adjusted to the light.
“I’m pretty sure I won’t fit in those,” she noted as five other boys stood by her and Jisung.
“No,” Jisung smiled before pointing down the hallway, “but they’d fit him.”
Hannah laughed and turned her head, expecting to see maybe Chenle in teenager-sized versions of the baby clothes in front of her, but she was met with another sight.
Chenle did come out from the hallway, but in casual clothes. No, the only thing different was what he had in his arms. A small puppy rested close to his chest, seemingly just waking up. Its tail wagged as soon as it noticed Hannah, much to her surprise.
Jisung gently pulled her arm, making her sit on the floor while Chenle mirrored their actions from where he stood. He gently placed the puppy on the ground.
“Go on,” Chenle encouraged the puppy, “go to your new mom.”
“Mom?” Hannah asked as the small puppy ran right to her, resting itself on her legs and looking up at her expectantly.
She picked him up as the other members gathered around her, sitting on the floor with her. Mark was filming her as she picked up the puppy and brought it close to her face, smiling as it licked her. Jaemin, on the other hand, was already looking at the little dog clothes while Renjun and Haechan were picking which toy to try out with the puppy first.
“Hi,” she smiled at the puppy, letting out a small laugh as it started licking her nose, “you’re an excited puppy, aren’t you?”
“And he’s yours,” Chenle approached, sitting in front of her. “Happy birthday, Noona.”
“Chenle,” she pulled him forward with her free arm, giving him a hug and pressing a kiss to his cheek, “why are you so sweet?”
“I heard from Yoonmi that puppies help relieve stress and anxiety,” he grinned at her, “I just want you to feel better.”
“Noona,” Jisung poked her cheek, “I helped, too! I help choose him, and I got all the clothes and toys and other stuff!”
Hannah chuckled, turning to kiss Jisung’s cheek as well, “You’re sweet, too, Sungie.”
“So,” Mark’s narration caught her attention, “Hannah finally received the gift Chenle and Jisung have been preparing since June. What are you gonna name him, Hans?”
She looked up at Mark, seeing a proud smile on his face, one that made him look like a big brother watching over his little siblings. It clicked in her head, already knowing what to name her new puppy.
“Minnie,” she smiled, “I’m calling him Minnie.”
Everyone cheered at that. Jeno looked at her with a smile as he patted Minnie’s head, “I think you should let Minnie’s uncles play with him before they explode from cuteness aggression.”
The uncles in question were the three who were looking through Minnie’s possessions which were all apparently purchased by Jisung. Hannah laughed at their excited looks and let Minnie on the ground.
“I get him first!” Haechan yelled, immediately being countered by Renjun and Jaemin. She laughed while getting up.
“I’ll go get us food, you can open presents after,” Jeno headed to the kitchen, dragging Jisung with him.
Mark laughed at her confused look as he shut off the camera, “You didn’t expect us to let the maknaes outdo us, did you?”
“I kind of thought you all contributed to this.”
“No, this is all ChenJi, you can watch it when they upload it,” Mark gave her a rare full hug, discreetly pressing a kiss to the side of her head. “Happy birthday, little sister.”
With that, he walked to the kitchen to get food, as well, leaving her in the living room with a satisfied smile. As much as Mark and her joked around and messed with each other, he had never forgotten to treat her like she was his own little sister when it counts, ever since they first met. She was thankful for it.
“Noona,” Chenle called her attention, a knowing smile on his face, “Minnie? Like Minhyung?”
“I don’t say it much,” Hannah shrugged, “but I’m actually really glad to have him as a big brother. I do look up to him, you know?”
Chenle nodded, “I know.”
“Never tell him I said that,” she laughed while watching Chenle open his small side bag, “What are you doing?”
“I wrote you something,” Chenle shyly handed her a small brown envelope. She looked at him curiously, but he just smiled at her. “Read it before you go to sleep.”
“I will,” she pulled him into a proper hug, “Thank you, Lele.”
“Anything for you, Noona.”
(Jeno smiled as he saw Hannah hugging Chenle before he turned to Jisung, nudging the younger boy. “How’d you get Minnie to run straight to Hannah? I’m pretty sure Renjun had food in his pocket.”
Jisung snorted. “Chenle stole one of Noona’s sweaters every week and had Minnie sleep in it. I didn’t think it would work, but it apparently did.”)
