My Dragon Quest IX OCs
Leene is very down-to-earth and doesn’t initially believe Celestrians exist at all. She is a skilled Paladin who lives in Gleeba. She’s very loyal and will throw herself in the path of any opponent to protect her allies. There’s something she’s keeping from the team about her past though... one day she just suddenly appeared, according to her Gleeban friends. And contrary to their expectations, she did not have amnesia. She seems to know a lot about the Gittish Empire.
Raena is a lovely bunny girl who makes her home in Dourbridge. She’s very upbeat and never lets life get her down. She joins the team to spread happiness across the world. Or that’s what she says at least. She has a serious problem with meeting girls and not instantly getting crushes on them. Despite this, she is very gifted with magic and uses her powers as a Sage to help her team in whatever way she can.
Sasha is the young and headstrong daughter of a priest in Batsureg. She despises being cooped up and left with the team so that she could see the world. And hit things with her giant hammer. Despite this, she still wants to be a priest... but she’s not good with the whole 'don’t hit things’ part of it. That strange language her name is in is actually just her terrible handwriting. She does help her team with her healing magic though... when she’s not throwing herself into danger.
L’ota was a student in Swinedimples Academy, but she never fit in. She very rarely talks and has sometimes been heard... hissing? L’ota left with the team as they didn’t make her feel like an outcast. But there is seriously something off about her... However, regardless of her oddness, she is a valuable Armamentalist who will support her friends to the best of her abilities.
Leene is so hard to build because every combination is so tempting
Should I optimize her to spam her special attack every turn?
I don't have a designated earth specialist, and giving her the land rune to contrast the protagonists wielding fire, water, and wind sounds really fun
I could always do a hybrid build with both of those ideas
So many choices
If they made a second game and used returning characters, Leene could be a good protagonist
She likes going on adventures just for the fun of it so she could end up in any kind of situation while still being in character
Knowing her, she'd probably help a rebellion, befriend an endangered magic creature, and unearth an ancient kingdom without taking a break
Gameplay-wise, a protagonist that you can gradually customize would be good in a game like this. Some recruits are hard to use because they're outclassed by the main characters. With Leene, you can always use your favorite and just build her differently to avoid overlapping roles
Random pointless trivia for the Leene Team that I completely forgot to actually write down on Tumblr!
In my team, the adventure all together took five years! That includes the post-game, though. The standard adventure without the post-game took three years.
Speaking of time passing, each of my characters grow as the story moves on. Both emotionally and physically! ...Except for Leene, she’s already reached peak tallness.
Leene, age: 32-37(physically) height: 6′6
Raena, age: 25-30 height: 5′5-5′6
L’ota, age: 13-18 height: 4′2-4′8
Sasha, age: 15-20 height: 4′8-5′2
After these five years, the team decided to split up to do what they thought the world needed most.
Leene went back to the Gittish Empire to try and rebuild it as what she thought it should be. An honorable empire that wasn’t, y’know, pure evil. She would go on to enlist the help of many great kingdoms and actually did manage to rebuild the Gittish Empire. Of course, she flat out refused to be its queen. Stella wanted to be its queen, but there was the small problem of no one could see her.
Raena traveled the world, bringing smiles to the faces of everyone she met! Because that’s just the way she is. She never stopped traveling, as that was what brought her the most joy. Meeting new people... seeing new smiles... it was what she lived for! She became a problem solver for everywhere she visited. Whatever made the people happy!
L’ota traveled with Raena, trying to teach humans to not be afraid of monsterkind and to give them a chance. She would help Raena solve problems, and would occasionally try to show humanity that monsterkind wasn’t as vicious as they thought. She would enlist the help of monsters to help, and though humanity was very skeptical at first, if they gave them a chance they would find that the monsters were a great help!
Sasha actually settled down in Stornway, after adopting all of the cats she could possibly find. She decided that instead of following her family’s legacy, that she’d make her own. Much later, she’d become a source of great wisdom... or that’s what everyone thought at least. When she’s visited she actually just spouts out random nonsense and everything thinks it’s really wise for whatever reason.
