GDC 2015

Every year in San Francisco in the spring there is a new blossoming, and it’s not just the vegetation. There is a blooming of new gaming talent and products. GDC takes over downtown San Fran and brings the most incredible advances in gaming technology and products to the forefront of the industry. Leetcoin was privileged to attend and see some of what is coming this upcoming year.

There were many different types of games being displayed, but I think I speak for all of the Leetcoin team when I say we were most impressed with the independent game developers products. They were all very unique in their own way, and all of the games nominated for awards deserve all of the accolades given. The art and design, the stories, and the gameplay itself of these games were all outstanding. We hope to work with some of the developers in the near future to implement a profit sharing structure in their games so people can play competitively for bitcoin.

All in all, it was an amazing experience and leaves us wondering... what will next year be like?

Boost VC

Leetcoin was just accepted into Boost VC, a San Mateo based bitcoin startup accelerator. It’s really exciting for us to be joining this program along with 24 other great companies.

Throughout the course of the program we hope to be able to grow and learn under the tutelage of some great mentors in the gaming and tech sectors. We can’t wait to show you what we are working on!

Intel Extreme Masters

Leetcoin had the pleasure of attending their very first large scale eSports tournament in San Jose, Intel Extreme Masters.

For those of you that have attended one before you know what its like walking in for the first time. For people who haven’t attended one yet, the feeling is overwhelming. You walk into the arena and you feel the energy immediately. The funny thing is that once the matches start, you get that feeling all over again. Everyone around you is cheering and screaming,even the n00bs, they don’t even know why or what they’re cheering for. It’s just that you want to scream and cheer with everyone else.

We were able to see StarCraft 2 and League of Legends pros and teams from all over the world compete. Gaming is truly one of the unique communities where you can connect with people you never would have any chance of running across in your life.

We can’t give enough praise to the organizers and competitors that created such an awesome environment for new and old alike.

It really got us pumped up for the next tournament we will be able to attend, and maybe somewhere down the road, for a tournament that we will be able to throw...

Leetcoin wins "Most Acquirable"

It was a busy week for us, and it is becoming busier each day as we get closer to Sept. 12th, when we launch support for League of Legends.

This past week our founder, Kingsley Edwards, was able to compete in Funding Post’s Las Vegas Investor Panel pitch. Ourselves along with 17 other companies gave a quick 60 second elevator pitch to the investor panel to showcase our companies and products. It was an awesome experience to see what other companies and ideas people from Las Vegas are coming up with. At the end of the competition though, Leetcoin came out on top as a winner. We were voted “Most Acquirable” by the panel of investors. We just want to thank Funding Post and the investor panel for giving us the opportunity to present and be a part of the growing Las Vegas startup community.

MIT and Leetcoin

Leetcoin was just in Boston this past week speaking to the MIT Bitcoin Club. We were invited to show off our API and let people know what we are doing! We had one of our developers fly in so he could better explain all the function of our API. It was really well received, and I think the best part for us was when people seemed to have this moment of enlightenment when they realized they could make money while playing video games. Its revolutionary!

We were just so happy we were able to participate, and it comes at a really exciting time for MIT in regards to Bitcoin. All incoming freshman at MIT will be receiving $100 worth of Bitcoin for them to spend. It’s really amazing to see the change Bitcoin is having on people, companies, and the future.

It was a great experience for everyone involved, and we were able to get a lot of new interest drummed up. In the words of the great Michael Scott it was a “win-win-win” for everyone involved.

Leetcoin and Progression Labs!

Leetcoin was just accepted into an amazing program in our own hometown of Las Vegas. We were given the opportunity to participate in Progression Labs.

Progression Labs is a Downtown Las Vegas based program that provides early capital, work space, and mentorships for start-ups to help them succeed. The program sprung out of the Vegas Tech Fund which is the brainchild of Zappo’s CEO Tony Hsieh.

Needless to say we are more than excited to get to work and stake our claim firmly in the new downtown, and help Leetcoin and Downtown Las Vegas grow.

Central European Bitcoin Expo

Leetcoin was in Vienna for the 2014 Central European Bitcoin Expo (CEBE).

Kingsley Edwards, our founder, was asked to speak on the future of gaming in relation to bitcoin. The talk had an edgy title of 'Killing for Bitcoin' to get a few more people intrigued from the get-go. He spoke at length about Leetcoin and our gaming integration, and how by winning at video games can earn you bitcoins through our service. Kingsley also showed how we view ourselves as the future of competitive and skill based-gaming.  

Kingsley also spoke on a bitcoin investment panel. He spoke about the struggles and challenges of being a startup in the bitcoin space, as well as commented on the interesting time that this is. People outside of our community don't have a full grasp of what bitcoin is, and how to use it outside of an investment. People are hesitant, but this is changing. We feel Leetcoin can help bring on greater understanding and a wider user base through introduction with the gaming communities.
