Rezar: *defiantly* I'm not afraid of the Wastelands. *with a little less bravado* And I'm not afraid of the Dantuzine ghost either.

Inna: It's long gone, darling.

When I started making audiodrama, I lived in an apartment building and also it was the pre-vaccine part of the pandemic and so I couldn't go anywhere else to record (except some of the A-G outdoor walks were recorded in the woods across the street), and so sometimes there were just the sounds of someone else walking around when I recorded and I couldn't do anything about that, but the school was haunted, and it was in character for Season 1 Anna-Georgina to be in denial about the school being haunted, so honestly, it made it better somehow. Like I didn't use takes where someone was audibly talking, but footsteps were okay.

About halfway through season 2, we bought a house (some of the very echo-y scenes in the back half of season 2 were recorded in the house while it was empty). Suddenly I had more control of the audio quality, but I also felt like something was lost.

Rooibos

Spoilers ahead, but I want to clarify something about Rooibos the Orange Cat that might not have been clear:

The whole "Rooibos is immortal" thing is not just the school. Rooibos is Rooibos, and she continues to live, perpetually, as a cat that is about a year old--forever.

The school does manifest forms of people they knew over the years. There are also ghosts--Lucy, and it is later implied Anna-Georgina. But Rooibos, neither of those are the case with Rooibos. The cat is just immortal.

I joked on Twitter, back when I was on Twitter, that Rooibos was fae, and decided to declare it canon, while also stating that it will never come up, and that is true. So yes, Rooibos is a fae, immortal cat, but she is a cat and all that that entails, and she is also not immune to being part of the cat distribution system, and she has chosen Anna-Georgina, and by extension the school and whoever is the keeper of the school. I've always imagined that her relationship to the genius loci of the school is friendly, which is part of why she has decided to stick around, but she also just genuinely loves and protects Anna-Georgina.

Also, I am not 100% sure if anyone caught this, but in Episode 2.2, when Anna-Georgina is sick and sees two of Rooibos, one of them is the school taking the form of the cat. I'd like to think that it never happened again, because Rooibos and the school came to an understanding.
