Playing around with some light redesigns or alternate designs for Legacy Link and his lady

Arin and I have had it for a while that he and his kingdom have some Scottish inspiration. Wanted to try out something more inspired by traditional clothing (especially since he's based on Link to the Past Link anyways.)

It's In Your Blood (2023)

So um, I started working on this in like,,, February? I was really excited about it and then got very *very* stuck on colors and,,, have tried to pick it back up several times with no luck. Well... picked it back up again a few days ago and I don't know if I'm totally happy with it still but think I'm ready to call it done.

So ye basically Autumn has 3 kinds of magic and struck me one day how each corresponds a bit to his bloodline and family that came before him. The lightning that's connected w fear is harsh, quick and forceful, raw power and energy like the hero that came before him. His ability to help flora grow and thrive is so much like Magnolias warm, nurturing personality and connection with nature and manifests naturally when he's happy or in love. His fire breath comes from a place of deep peace and warmth that reminds me so much of Gayles steady hands and passionate heart. So much of each of them stays alive through him and I don't know... it's special to me.

Another bonus thing, but Arin helped me with some flower symbolism that I tried to add to the frame- buttercups for Autumn, edelweiss for Legacy Link, cyclamen for Maggie and coriander for Gayle.

Legacy au sketches ♡ just feels for the family I don't know

Don't wanna spoil anything but don't think the conversation made the final cut but akskfk there's a conversation Arin wrote a long time ago where Legacy Links ghost mentions offhand his wife thought he was most handsome when he was older and scruffy and heavier around the middle. Don't know how to say it right, she just met him a long time ago when adventures had worn him to the bone and years later seeing him able to relax and be happy and comfortable and not fighting for his life anymore, think it's just some overwhelming happy feelings for her when it hits.

Then there's some sketches of Link and Lir, his littlest is just the mini version of him and is very attached to her dad.

And last Autumn and Maeve, she's always able to talk him down but even level-headed lady gets overwhelmed bad days sometimes and he's not the best with emotions but knows her and is good with redirecting.

(If you made it this far down, just a little request to go support Arin! They're thinking about sharing the finished fic and it's a really beautiful story. They sent it to me for my birthday this year and pretty much made me cry, would love for you guys to be able to read it all, too ♡)

Okay so like I usually like having more than one sketch together before I post them but this ones still amusing me so much I just really wanted to have it on here. Lir takes so much after her dad it hurts, never ends up growing out of it either ajdkdkd

So like I shouldn't be posting this late but was happy with how these looked- one of the reasons I wanted to get this Zel's design figured out was so that I could sketch this scene that's been in my head.

Some things with his family Link doesn't like to think about, hard conversations he doesn't wanna have with his wife and especially kids and ouch... just feel like embodiment of the triforce of wisdom and one of his oldest friends— the one person in the world burdened w the same responsibilities— would be the one not afraid to confront him over it.
