Vampires pretending to be human are the ones you need to watch out for..
Given the theory that love’s heartbreak can cause a Legacy vampire to die is canon, do we think the reason why Juliette walked up to that silver-tipped spear Cal pointed at her is because she was taking a gamble? If Cal didn’t love her, she couldn’t have killed her. But if she still did, she could have. Was Juliette gambling her life to know the truth because Cal wouldn’t answer her then and there? She confessed that she loved her but Cal didn’t return the ‘I love you’ back. I felt like the only way she could know for sure was if Cal did actually try to stake her and despite her dying, she’d die with a smile on her face because she’d know she still had Cal’s heart while her own was swiftly becoming still. Least she’d know, you know?
Only a lovesick hopeless romantic like Juliette would play that card and stake her actual heart to know the truth of Calliope’s level of love for her. If it’s canon that love’s heartbreak is the key to killing a Legacy, of course. But I’m pretty much convinced it is with all the intricate hints all throughout the entire season.
Juliette knows Cal is very close to figuring it out. And it goes along with how Margot turned Sebastian and how Juliette turned Theo. It had to be through love. So if that’s the key to creating a Legacy, then surely the key to destroying one is the same. Through love. But obviously it’s the heartbreak that kills them. Emotional heartbreak becomes physical heartbreak. Because we all know that deep grief can literally kill and especially with a monster that is highly sensitive.
As you can see, I’m very intrigued by this theory.
And you know the most poetic conclusion to this entire show would be to find out that what we know as a “monster” can only be born or die through what is least monstrous. That it can only be pure love that can either create or destroy a Legacy vampire.
if i don't get my season two i will become a problem for everybody.

‘First Kill’ is about lineage, heritage and tradition. It’s not just about a queer romance but the fact all of this wraps around the queer romance is very interesting. It’s what makes it all work together. They’re telling a star-crossed lovers story much like Romeo and Juliet where the respective families have been mortal enemies and in a civil war for decades - centuries even from the Legacy Vampire side.
There’s a prophecy to fulfill and Juliette and Calliope are The Chosen Ones for it.
My guess is Juliette and Calliope are meant to be what breaks the tradition of Vampire VS Hunter not so much by hammering the wall down between Vampires and Hunters, but more so by bridging their two families together. I believe that is their shared destiny. To break with the tradition and unite the families. And I don’t think Netflix got that. I don’t think they paid attention to the deeper story being told there. And that’s why they just dropped it. They didn’t see the potential it had. What I’m about to explain will make you see it because it’s hidden within the visuals.
Calliette are the Guild Hunter and the Legacy Vampire that fall in love and DON’T end up killing each other like how that historically happened with the first Guild Hunter and the first Legacy Vampire. We know the first Legacy Vampire to be Lilith. We don’t know who the first Guild Hunter is. Some people are saying Eve but then,… they make Eve out to be more of a victim than a fighter so I don’t necessarily think it’s her. But it is somebody of Burns ancestry I’m sure because it wouldn’t work if it wasn’t. If we’re going with the whole descendant/reincarnation concept… it would have to be someone of Burns ancestry just like how Lilith is of Atwood ancestry. So the deeper story there is the enemies-to-lovers/lovers-to-enemies and star-crossed part of the love story because Calliette are mortal enemies naturally. It’s instinctual for them to want to kill one another. And so they’re fighting against their very nature as much as they’re fighting against their lineage. However, the stars have brought them together for the opposite to occur since it failed the first time doing it. So it is very similar to Romeo and Juliet but there are huge differences. For one thing R&J wasn’t supernatural. So ‘First Kill’ is automatically much more compelling just on that alone. And I could really see what they were doing there. Where they were going. So it’s infuriating that it got cancelled because I don’t think Netflix did. I really don’t think they saw the depth of this concept.
And everything I’ve just said here is cleverly hidden in two scenes:
The Pantry Scene
The Eden Dream Scene
And I could explain how - I have actually - but I think the fun is in working it out for yourselves just as I have done. Believe it or not - I actually had in mind a very similar concept for a historical crossover fanfiction story between the Universes of ‘Xena: Warrior Princess’ and ‘The Mummy’. I was also going to do R&J supernaturally. The only thing is mine wasn’t going to be lovers-to-enemies nor really star-crossed lovers. Mine was just about descendant/reincarnation and how the worlds of 4 characters collide because of this connection. Because of their true natures. But it was absolutely in the same hemisphere of thinking as V.E. Schwab and Felicia D. Henderson for ‘First Kill’.
The whole having their true natures be both their burden and their gift. I totally get what they were doing with that. And it really is a huge shame because they had something very compelling there. A great set up initially that would have found its footing in a Season 2 and I am still angry at Netflix because they really missed the point of ‘First Kill’. What it actually is and where it could and would most likely go.
Something I don’t understand about the blood pills in the first few episodes - is why Juliette would need to keep taking them hourly. Is her hunger constant? Does she constantly want to feed? Or is it because she’s never fed before so the need to feed is much greater? Is it because vampires have an insatiable appetite in general? Particularly her branch - legacy vampires? Or is a combination of the fact she’s a legacy vampire with an insatiable appetite and has never fed before why she constantly has to keep taking the blood pills to quell her hunger/thirst for human blood? Is it both? Because short of any other explanation… it doesn’t really make much sense that she’s constantly hungry and therefore has to have the pills on her all the time. If this is the urgency to make her first kill then surely the smart thing to do would be to do it. It might not be the right thing. But it’s smart. Calliope on the other hand, doesn’t have this level of urgency. She simply just wants to prove herself to her family of monster hunters that she can make the kill.
So you have two very intriguing narratives going on here surrounding the main protagonists themselves. For both - it is all about making the first kill… but the circumstances are wildly different. One is to survive as a vampire and carry on the legacy vampire bloodline. The other is to uphold the duty to protect humanity from monsters. But both are wrapped around a common theme thread of meeting expectations. And so it only makes sense that meeting each other would either make or break that identity-defining moment.
But it ends up doing both at the same time.
They both still make their first kill.
And both break because of it.
So do you see what I mean about how focusing on the lore of their respective families’ lineage and all the other characters besides Juliette and Calliope is what will make the relationship between Calliette that much more powerful and will not replace, sideline or take anything away from it like it did with Killing Eve?
It won’t because ALL THE NARRATIVES written and expanded on so far are WRAPPED AROUND them. As of now, there is not a single individual story that will not tell us more about Juliette and Calliope’s dynamic even though it may require less screen-time for them.
See, I’m only saying this because there’s been a few reviews and reactions making the same point as I have but they’ve gotten a lot of flack from the LGBTQ audience and the Calliette shippers. But what I’m trying to say is that IF IT IS WRITTEN WELL this is actually an excellent thing to do for a Season 2 and it will not put Calliette on the back burner at all. It will do the opposite. It will expand on the power of their love and their supernatural connection to one another.
It will actually tell us more about them and their attraction to each other rather than remove the detail from it. But it has to be written well otherwise it will end up like the garbage nonsensical end of Killing Eve. If they do go this route, I want the fans to be open-minded enough to give the benefit of the doubt. I’ll be the first to eat my words if it ends up a big mistake but I really think this will be a great route for ‘First Kill’. And plus - I’d really like to learn about all the other characters. The Fairmonts and The Burns are a hot mess right now and I don’t think giving them more screen-time would be a sacrilege to the holy grail that is Calliette because I know how much fans want it.
I just want things to be better explained than they have been in these 8 40-minute-each long episodes and I just don’t think they can really effectively do that by focusing entirely on Calliette and I genuinely think it would be a mistake to do so given how much world-building there is still to do for individual characters So that’s my take. That’s what I want. That’s my Season 2
First kill is literally so bad. That being said.. I still watched all of it.
