Bad idea for a weekend in Las Vegas. A weekend who converted in 5 days because... because as usual. Isaac couldn't deny. The temptation to easy money organizing a little problem what a famous casino had in that moment with the Department of Taxation of Nevada was more strong than the common sense to stay. Now, the Big Apple was a complete mess. In the beginning Isaac laughed a lot thinking in the people inside of the CitySpere, but immediately he recognized the danger: information, a lot of it in his office. Isaac was a freak neat organized man and even when he had all in digital and with backups everywhere, his office has papers, physical, things what never should be in the light or news. Walking trying to look normal, Isaac was like he didn't care what happened. What was half of truth: he didn't care the people, what he really wanted was go inside, take few archives and if was necessary, burn what was so dangerous and compromising.
Guards flanked the group being led to the basement on either side and keeping an eye on stragglers. Vanessa hesitated for a moment when they reached the steps that led down to the basement, the ghost lights gave off an eerie light giving the stairway a crypt like quality.
” Come on now ms. everyone has to report to the basement, that means you too.” the guard on the left chided.
” Is all this really necessary?”
” We don’t make the rules, we just enforce them.”
Of all the days to visit city spire she had to pick today, she could have gone to the museum, the record store, she could have even gone for a walk in the park but oh no, let’s go to City Spire. Vanessa felt like kicking her own ass just then. She finally caught up to the group and made it into the basement,Her eyes adjusted to the low light as they reached the end of the hall and the group passed under the watchful eye of another set of guards. The steady hum of ventilation system ground to a halt. Well that was a little strange. She searched the crowd for familiar faces and was comforted when she spotted several of them, she even spotted her boss over when the rest group was escorted in. They had just placed bets about how long they would be down here when Phillip’s phone rang. What ever this call was about, he didn’t look happy, the little blonde stepped away to give him privacy when she saw Jeremy across the room and gave a small wave, when she turned back around Dr. Orman was gone. Well this just keeps getting better all the time she thought as she looked around the room, it was dark and crowded and the little blonde could see that this could get real ugly real fast.
Vincent left Lana in the locked room and headed for the stairwell. He had about five floors to go up to get to Luis. He pushed the men guarding it from top to bottom to turn and look at the wall before he entered it. Levitating off the ground, he shot up the few floors in the empty space created by the curve of the stairs. Once he was sure he was at the correct floor he walked into the hall and released the hold he had on the men. It didn't take him long find the young man looking for his own way out.
Quarantine: Event Task 2 - Following Directions // Self-Paragraph
Andre had followed orders, not straying from the group of people that seemed like a herd of cattle to him. There were a few people who seemed to be taken away in the midst of the chaos. Hoping someone would take him aside and give him a reason to take off to the roof so he could jump from the top and land on the roof of another, he groaned as he stood there in the basement still. God, what was he going to do? He couldn't stay down here. Some of these people probably had an illness, maybe even a staff infection. Who the hell knew in this coffin of a basement. Was the air getting thinner or was it just him?
Groaning loudly as he looked for something heavy, he noticed a rather dense metal rod just lying there in the corner. He had to find a way to keep himself from using his gun. Andre needed this. Picking it up and finding a seated bench, he lied down and started to bench press a few times with the rod to keep himself calm. Nathan was doing one hell of a job with calming him down but there was no way to have reassurance, especially since it seemed everyone else's cellphones were also blocked.
One…two…three… He counted off, trying to keep track of how many reps he did while down here. He could get to a hundred easy with this bar. The more he pressed the bar, the anxiety he was feeling intensified. What if one of those men from his past were locked inside of this basement with him? What if there was some sort of psychopath that down here who liked to take people into the bathroom and kill each other. Too little was happening to preoccupy people down here and Andre was desperate to do anything to keep his mind from reeling about the possibilities of everyone possibly resorting to cannibalism.
That morning, she'd woken up with two very specific things: a wedgie, and this inexplicable feeling that today was going to be a weird day.
Should've listened to that early-morning instinct, 'cause it turned out pretty spot-on. But she never thought, even for a second, that it'd get this weird.
And she certainly never suspected that she'd turn out of the bathroom to be immediately faced that...one intimidating lady she'd played truth or dare with once. Her eyes widened as she processed the other woman's sudden appearance -- gosh, where'd she come from? Sakura opened her mouth. Paused. Closed it again. Decided she must be blocking Gabriella's path and made to shuffle on her way.
Andrea continued about her day trying to still get her work done despite the situation. Her new project was time sensitive, and she wasn't going to let this clusterfuck hold her back.
She was more than just annoyed with the lock down. It worried her. They were looking for something. It had to do with the Second Gens, of that much she was certain. Andrea had taken all the information she had about them and hid it away with Charlotte's help.
A sudden knock on the door interrupted her thoughts. She looked up as the door was opened and three armed guards stepped in. "We need you to gather your research and give it to us ma'am."
Andrea sat back into her seat and smiled. She knew it was only a matter of time before they came looking for something. "Of course! But first I'll be needing some identification, these being classified documents and all." She rested her hand on the desk and tapped the surface lightly to emphasize her point.
The two men in the back shot each other quick glance, but the man closest to her only smiled. He was obviously the superior, and now she knew where to focus. "I don't think that will be necessary."
"I do," she said confidently crossing her legs and smiling up at him. Andrea began to size the man up as they were locked in a stare down. While he was in charge of the two behind him, she knew that his own position in the FMID must not be all that secure. They wouldn't send a high ranking member of their team to do their dirty work.
The man chuckled and walked forward. Resting his hands on her desk, he leaned forward grinning at her. "Listen sweetheart..."
"Doctor," Andrea interrupted him without faltering for a moment. "Dr. Clark, if you'd like.
He shook his head and rolled his eyes. "Fine. Listen, Dr. Clark..."
"I'm all ears, sir," she once again interrupted the man. Andrea was taking the risk of trying to make the man lose his cool. It was a dangerous plan, but with some luck, it'd give her the upper hand in the room. She knew all too well how men like this functioned. They demanded respect without having ever earned it. "Please continue."
"We will be taking all you have, or slapping you in cuffs and taking it anyway. Those are your choices Doctor." The man was already fuming. No doubt, he had already had to deal with difficult people during the lock down. He leaned toward her further as he spoke trying to use his size advantage to intimidate her.
"There's a few problems with your plan, sir." Andrea uncrossed her legs and leaned her arms on the surface between them. "First of all, if you had the authority to do that, you would have already. Secondly, with me out of the way there is no way that you'd be able to find them in time."
"In time for what?" His face contorted in confusion for a second. It made Andrea smile, she had him.
"How is it that I know more about this locked down here, than you?" She chuckled and looked up at him. "Above your pay grade, maybe?" She was bluffing, but it was enough to throw him off. She sighed and leaned back again with a smug smile really selling the fact that she had more information than he did.
The man stood up straight and growled in frustration. "Listen bitch, we aren't leaving without those fucking project files!" He slammed his fist down on the desk.
Andrea raised her brows as he addressed her. "Well then, I guess we are really going to get to know each other, sir. I don't have anything that you are looking for."
"What?"
"The head of the department, Dr.Heim, he's the one with all the files on our research. I'm afraid bookkeeping is not in my job description." She wanted to add something, but reminded herself that the man was carrying a gun and a member of a secret government organisation. Getting out of the situation with minimal damage would be all about knowing when to speak and when to keep quiet.
"You're full of shit," he said eyeing her suspiciously.
"It's possible," she answered chuckling. "I'm sure you don't need my permission to look around, but I must warn you that one of the cobras we were using in testing escaped during the black out." She turned her head to look around the lab. "Haven't had eyes on the little guy since."
The man straightened his uniform as he glared down at her. "We'll be paying your boss a little visit then." He leaned back down and locked eyes with Andrea. "But if I found out that you are fucking with me, I'll be back and make you sorry."
Andrea leaned into him so that their faces were inches from each other and simply pointed up at the security cameras that covered every angle of the lab. "Unlikely," she whispered before looking down and getting back to work. She believed that her mind was worth more to them than this stooge in a uniform. She would bet her life on it. Hopefully, that's not what she had just done.
The men exited and slammed the door behind them. She finally looked up when she was sure that they were gone and sighed. This situation was growing more intense by the moment, and she had no idea how long her tricks would hold off the inevitable.
April separated from Reece and took off running down another hall. She knew most of this building like the back of her hand, having spent countless hours walking the corridors to avoid having to go back to her desk. As soon as she could, the woman ducked into a bathroom, not caring which one it was. She took a few steps back and kept her eye on the door, watching for it to swing open at any minute.
Damon parted ways from Gemma as she made her way to Rachel. He had one thing on his mind and wasn't going to let anyone get in his way. He stepped out of the stairway checking the next floor down. Damon looked around the hallway. It seemed to be abandoned until he looked up and saw Lillie being dragged down the hall toward him. He smiled as he watched the little red head put up a fight. "You should put her down," Damon said walking toward the group. It was only a request, hoping that they would refuse, and he would have to tack action. He was sick of hiding and sneaking around.
