“HER?” Chloe’s eyes nearly bugged out of her head, not quite distracting her from the task at hand. “I’m sorry, our Braniac was a dude.” She sat back after a few moments, letting out a breath of relief. “See? You just needed a little help from outside the box. Or the universe.”

“Uh, yeah. Wow, that’s trippy. She was a girl in our universe.” Winn explained, leaning toward the screen. “Damn…” He whispered, waiting as the screen switched, showing a dark lit room. “We’re in!” He exclaimed, throwing his arms up.

“Great!” Kara couldn’t follow anything on the screens, but she leaned in anyway. “Can you find out anything about their base of operations? Origins? Weaknesses?” She highly doubted the thing would just list out their weaknesses, but hey, she could dream.

“Uh…” Winn scanned the information on one screen .”No, no weaknesses listed, but… this signal seems to be broadcasting from somewhere inside the city.” He glanced at Chloe. “Think we can track it down?”

“Oh I know we can.” Chloe said, cracking her knuckles quickly before setting to work once more. “If we bypass the router we can hack into their signal and find everything they’re controlling with it. Just give me a moment...” Admittedly she was a tad rusty, after spending most of her time hunting down heroes, but it was kind of like riding a bike, right?

“Yes! Then we can find everything with the same signal and shut them down from the inside!” Winn exclaimed, hovering over her chair as he watched. It was weird to be doing the watching this time, instead of the hacking.

“Miss Prince, a pleasure to meet you.” Lena smiled and offered her hand to the other woman. “You were at Lex’s party, weren’t you?”

“I was.” Diana admitted, taking the shorter woman's hand respectfully. “Your brother is quite...enigmatic. I must admit, I was unaware you were in attendance.”

“I do.” Amaya responded flippantly. That was nothing to talk about in such an open setting, no matter how normalized it was in the future ( present? ).

So that’s what she wanted. Amaya had been admittedly suspicious of the woman when she first boarded the Waverider, and with good reason. Perhaps she had good reason to be, especially with Lisa deciding that Amaya needed to be interrogated about ‘her Mickey’.

“My intentions? I don’t believe I understand. Mick is a wonderful man. I simply want him to recognize that. He’s not always in a good place.”

Lisa rolls her eyes, of course she didn’t use her powers for personal gain, it reminded her of nearly every superhero in Lenny’s nerdy comic books and every superhero she had met since the particle accelerator. That’s why she preferred to be the villain in the story.

The waverider was phenomenal and made her wonder just hoe big the universe was when she entered it, but it wasn’t her type of thing, she had a feeling her brothers internally fanboy’d as soon as they stepped aboard the ship especially if the quarters had those nerdy star trek doors that Lenny loved.

“Rumour has it that you want to change him” Lisa scowls as she practically spits the word ‘change’ out. Mick had told her some of the conversations that he and the woman in front of her had, and while it may have been out of context, she didn’t like the undertones she had heard. Her surrogate brother didn’t need to be changed, he was good the way he was, not perfect but no one ever was, not even the heroes. “Good place or not, Mickey knows when he needs to cool it or turn the heat up”

“I’m not trying to change him.” Amaya scrunched her nose up at the word, clearly displeased with the thought. Perhaps she could shed some light on the Waverider’s situation. “I want to help him recognize his full potential, with his condition or without. It can only hinder him if he allows it to, and with the team recently becoming quite harsh with him, it has become a hindrance.” 

( Is that what Mick had told her? That Amaya was trying to change him? She had thought they had moved past petty jabs at one another. Now she was in hot water with the woman that was basically his sister. )

Mick had been living with pyromania his entire life, but it seemed to have extended past a compulsion. It was nothing to be ashamed of. They had all battled demons to become the people they are, even herself, and especially Mick.

                 Alec let out light sigh, eyes looking at his wound. “I think it’s going to be fine. Really.”

“Can I try?” Chloe asked, wiggling her fingers slightly. She doesn’t wait for an answer before bending down beside Winn. “I’ve picked up some things here and there as the information broker for the League. Maybe you just need to try a new perspective?”

“Be my guest.” Winn offered, rolling his chair away from the desk to allow Chloe room to work. Maybe she could figure out another way through. Besides, he needed a break.

“You know I was taken over by Brainiac once?” Chloe murmured, fingers beginning to move rapidly. “The super-intelligence went away, but I can still find my way around just about any firewall.”

“Brainiac?” Kara asked. “So your Earth has one of her, too?” But that was probably a question for another time.

“Ooohh yeah,” Winn chimed in. “Hated her. Don’t want to see her again anytime soon.” As Chloe bent down to the computer, Winn watched her work, eyebrows raising. “Okay… I did not think of trying it like that.” He was about to ask if she was seeing anyone, even though she wouldn’t be in this universe for too long.

“Not quite. It’s more like I embody the essence of an animal of my choice.” Amaya amended, turning a bright scarlet at Lisa’s not-so-subtle innuendo. “Er, I prefer to use them in more practical settings.”

Lisa’s smirk widens as she notices the blush that appears on the other woman's cheeks, she rather enjoyed getting a rise out of people, especially those who wasn’t sure about.

She knew the myth behind the warrior who was able to use the strengths of the animals she chose to save her people as well as save America along with her team of superheroes, but she had also heard some stories from aboard the waverider about some of the things she had said to Mick as well as how close the two of them were getting and it worried her.

“Who says that sex isn’t a practical setting” Lisa mock pouts before staring at the old warrior firmly “So what is your intention with my Mickey Miss Vixen?”

“We can handle ourselves.” Amaya responded, sounding offended at the very idea that they couldn’t. Just because both of them had the tendency to be a little headstrong and stubborn, didn’t mean they were incapable. And yet, a little help would still be nice right about now. 

“Is Mick Rory being conscious of the time stream? I never thought I’d see the day.” Amaya smiled despite their running, a teasing lilt to her voice. It was surprisingly refreshing to get a lecture about the time stream from Mick instead of the other way around. “Where are we going, anyways?” She questioned sharply, “Is this the direction of the Waverider or are we just randomly fleeing like scoundrels?” Well, they were technically scoundrels, but that was hardly beside the point.

“We can handle ourselves perfectly but usually only when we can go outright when attacking. It’s harder for the both of us to keep from seriously hurting or killing someone” Which was true, she was a hero so held back but with her animal powers and instincts, he had a feeling that she had to concentrate and having the Knights out for blood and them being important may cause her trouble.

“I helped keep it running for years” he grunts out as he starts to feel exhausted from the constant running, being with the time masters meant he had a good grasp on the work that is put into keeping the time stream safe and running smoothly but the others didn’t trust him or what he said so he kept quiet but he knew Amaya wouldn’t instantly disregard him, at least he hoped. “There should be a network of caves ahead of us, the gossip around here is that it’s haunted so the Knights won’t set foot in there and will assume we’ll die in moments”

Well, he did have a point, not that she was going to give him the satisfaction by telling him that. Out of the entire team, she and Mick were the ones that had to keep the tightest leash on their weapons of choice. Picking fights was a big no unless absolutely necessary. “Ah, yes. I forgot.” Amaya hadn’t been around for the immediate aftermath of Mick’s time as Chrono, but she knew from word a mouth that it had been bad.

“Great.” She decided. Perhaps it was good that the past was so superstitious if it meant they’d get out of here alive. Because there was no way that the cave was actually haunted, right? Ghosts weren’t real, and they couldn’t be that unlucky ( except they really could, by what recent events have revealed )

Chloe was breathless by the time they touched the ground, looking around the large building. “This is absolutely brilliant.” She decided, marching in after Kara. “You must be Winn! I’m Chloe Sullivan. Supergirl was trying to contact an alternate universe and got me instead. I’m here to help.” She affirmed, holding out her hand to shake. 

 Winn looked up, clearly surprised by the other woman, holding out his hand after a moment of shock. “Um…hi?” He said, looking at Kara. “And Hank’s okay with this?” No matter how much he tried to deny it, Winn still lived in constant fear of the martian.

“Hank is going to take all the help she can get,” Kara decided firmly. “Chloe’s been nothing but helpful so far. And I brought her here by accident, so it’s not as if she could be involved somehow, right?”

“…right,” Winn agreed hesitantly. “So if he gets mad, we blame you?”

Kara barely resisted the urge to roll her eyes. “Yes. Blame me. Now – what have you got so far?”

Winn sighed, moving his chair a bit so the other two could see his computer screen. “I’ve tried hacking in so many times now, I can barely feel my fingers. But this firewall always stops me.”

Chloe grinned, leaning against the desk. “I’ve been great. Oliver’s on a business trip, so I decided to come visit.” It got lonely in Star City at times, but Chloe didn’t regret the move one bit. The only downside was that she didn’t get to see her best friend as often. “Now, the Clark Kent I know would never give up on a lead.” She chastised the kryptonian fondly. “Besides, now that I’m here, I can help you out.” She offered, though it was a long shot since she didn’t actually work at the Planet. “I’d recommend a break, at the very least.”

“You ever think about coming to visit more often? Both you and Ollie,” Clark added, turning his gaze from the computer monitor up to Chloe. Overall, things were good. He and Lois had been significantly busy at the Planet though visits like this were always a nice way to dial down the stress from work and saving the city. “You got me there, Chlo. If you want to help, I won’t complain and I’m sure Lois would appreciate it too but I think I’ll be able to handle it,” he cracked another small smile and let out a quiet sigh. “Have you had lunch yet? It would be nice to do a little catching up.”

“We’ll try, Clark, but we can’t make any promises. We’re pretty busy, you know.” She was teasing, of course, even though they were two very busy people. They could always make room in their schedules for visiting their friends, especially Lois and Clark. “Lunch it is.” She declared, resting a hand on his shoulder as a way of urging him to his feet. “Right now? There’s a little diner a few blocks over that I’ve missed terribly. I love Star City, but it just doesn’t have Metropolis’ charm.” It was nearly one anyway, which meant that it was just the right time for a meal.

“That doesn’t mean I want one.” It would surely be irritating, and it would still take time to reach Gideon so it could be healed. And she would still blame Mick, naturally, since there was nobody else in their general vicinity to blame ( except, perhaps, their pursuers, though Amaya didn’t plan on griping to them ).

“You’re being dramatic. The others would surely rescue us.” Amaya responded, since the others were in this time too. Somewhere. “And we could surely hold our own for a short while. You act like they would kill us instantly.”

Mick shrugs lightly, he knew it would be irritable if she got an infection or a rash from their little run through the forest, although he was surprised that the magic that surrounded her and her amulet didn’t protect her from something as silly as little infections.

“The others think we can handle ourselves” Mick points out to her but he was pretty sure that there was a chance that the knights that were chasing after them were actually part of the very history that they were tying to protect so he couldn’t use his gun and she couldn’t hurt them too much just in case they caused an aberration. “And they will kill us on sight” he adds, they were invaders and belittled their king which was classed as treason so death was their end game right now. “Whereas we can’t hurt them”

He nodded to that. “Yeah, good point… My hand to hand has gotten a little rusty since I started usin’ weapons more,” Jason noted before grinning at her, “I like to take the opportunities I got, so just don’t toss me too hard, yeah?”
