I went into Astral Chain for some excellent Platinum gameplay, but ended up falling in love with the supporting cast. :’) Every time someone mentioned Max became a huge softie due to fatherhood, I just.... *heart clutch*

word prompts
he’s been waiting all day . having her out there without him has made him fidgety , nervous to the point that he found himself pacing their bedroom longer than he anticipated . she’s more than capable of being able to protect herself and she’s one of the best survivors he’s ever known but that gut wrenching feeling of uneasiness won’t let up .
finally around nightfall , she strolls in and paul has tried to keep himself busy by helping out where he can within the community . ❝ hey . . . ❞ he says watching her as she kicks off her shoes , throws her coat and closes the distance on him . hands reach for his face before pulling him into a kiss that feels a bit too panicked but he’s too shocked to put a stop to it . plus , it feels too nice to stop since he hasn’t stopped thinking about her all day .
when both of them are gasping for air he pulls her away only slightly to gaze into her eyes , searching for any answers . ❝ bad day ?? ❞ he shudders to think how bad it could have gotten out there to illicit such a reaction but just as quickly he brings her back into chest while wrapping his arms around her .
random edits ft. @legionis (clara): ❝ I just want you. If labels take away from that, then fuck a label. I don’t need any of that shit. I…just don’t wanna keep wondering, Claire. When I go, I wanna go with certainty that I’ve said and done everything I possible can with you. Whatever you decide, I’m in. And I’m yours. Okay? ❞
* ANSWERED ASK.
KILLING EVE / SENTENCE STARTERS / ACCEPTING.
@legionis asked : “ this better not be a call to tell me you’re dead. ” @ ghost, from nolan.
“ near enough, ” ghost rumbles a guttural reply through the radio. nearby, the owner of it is bound to a chair - cloth stuffed into their mouth to prevent them drawing infected. he’d found them snooping around in his territory, an area even hunters avoided. DEATH LURKS WITHIN THE SHADOWS, even mad men fear the rumours of his presence.
he wonders if their search had any purpose, or whether they’re merely a couple of survivors that stumbled across him accidentally. nevertheless, one can’t be too careful. especially when his hostage had, instead of trying to take off for their life, lashed out at him with a weapon.
upon utilizing their fear and radio, he’d managed to lure out a voice on the other end, who he assumes is an accomplice. “ your mate's ‘ad a bit of a bumpy ride, if I’m bein’ honest. nothin’ compared to what I intend t’ do to ‘em, howev’a. best listen close, might just save their life. I’ve got a couple’a questions for ya. but we’re not doin’ this over the radio. you’re gonna come find us, nice ‘n’ calm. you tell me what I wanna know and you’re free as a fucking bird. try any shit and you’re both fucking done, fella. ”
Smash Musings - Legionis
The Legionis Is Unchained!
Making a guess on what the protagonist of Astral Chain, often called the Legionis, could be like in Smash. What I have in mind is close enough to Astral Chain gameplay. The normal attacks mainly revolve around the X-Baton’s default form (with some Gladius attacks), while specials directly involve the Legions.
-= Specialty: Legions
The Legionis can command one of five different kinds of Legions - chimeras programmed to follow a human operator. It’s up to the Legionis to know when to use their Legions, and what type is best for which situation.
When a Legion is summoned, the Energy Gauge will slowly decrease (max 100). If you dismiss the Legion, the Energy Gauge will quickly refill. However, if the Energy Gauge runs out while the Legion is active, the Legion will be dismissed and you won’t be able to summon it again until the gauge refills.
Legions will automatically attack whatever opponents come within their sights. Each Legion’s auto-attacks have their own range, power, and speed. Also, if Legions take damage, the Energy Gauge will decrease, and the Legionis will take some reduced damage as well. And if the Legionis move too far from a sent Legion (about 2/3 Final Destination length), it will get dragged from its current position.
- Sword Legion: Three-hit blade strike. Mid-high speed, mid range, average power. Can be moved at moderate speed. - Arrow Legion: Fires fast projectiles in moderate-speed five-round bursts. No hitstun and low power, but large area of sight. Can be moved at high speed. Takes more damage than other Legions. - Arm Legion: Two-hit punch combo. Mid-low speed, mid range, high power. Can be moved at mid-low speed. - Beast Legion: Four-hit claw/bite combo. High speed, short range, mid-low power. Can only stand on the ground. Can be moved at high speed. - Axe Legion: Single axe swing. Low speed, long range, high power and knockback. Can be moved at low speed. Takes less damage than other Legions.
- Neutral Attack: Five-step X-Baton strike. - Side Tilt Attack: Roundhouse kick. - Up Tilt Attack: Upper swing with X-Baton. - Down Tilt Attack: Fires Blaster low in a two-round burst. - Dash Attack: Lunges X-Baton forth in a Stinger motion. - Side Smash: Gladius chop. - Up Smash: Gladius overhead swing. - Down Smash: Gladius spin attack.
- Neutral Air Attack: Shoots Blaster around self. Covers moderate area with low power. - Forward Air Attack: X-Baton overhead swing forth. Can meteor smash at its tip. - Back Air Attack: Roundhouse kick behind. - Up Air Attack: X-Baton swing upward. - Down Air Attack: Single Blaster shot downward.
- Grab: Seizes foe up close. - Pummel: X-Baton handle strike. - Forward Throw: Tackles foe forth. - Back Throw: Hurls foe behind. - Up Throw: Fires foe upward with Blaster. - Down Throw: Slams foe into the ground.
- Neutral Special: Send Legion: Launches the Legion forward to tackle opponents. Done with a tap of the special move button - you can quickly hold the button after sending the Legion to move it around freely, even into the air (not possible with the Beast Legion). Legion will auto-attack a bit sooner if it hits a foe. - Input this special when the Legion is away from the Legionis to pull the Legion back to them. The Legion is momentarily invincible during this. - Chain Bind: If you hold the button instead while the Legion is next to the Legionis, it will swing around in front. Any foe struck will be bound in place in an Astral Chain. Overusing this within a short time will make the effect expire faster. - Side Special: Legion Action: Your current Legion will come to your side to use a personalized skill. This will cost about 10 Energy per use. - Sword Legion: Hold to build power, then release for a powerful vertical slash. More charge means a bigger slash. - Arrow Legion: Hold to charge up, then release to fire an energy shot. You can tilt the shot up or down slightly. - Arm Legion: Grabs a foe in moderate range, then hurls them forward. - Beast Legion: Ride atop the Beast Legion as it makes a long jump forth. Good for recovery. - Axe Legion: Holds up a barrier around the Legionis. Holds off attacks and reflects projectiles. Follows with an axe bomb. - Up Special: Chain Jump: Launch the Legion in a given direction, pulling the Legionis with it. If the Legion is already active and apart, the Legionis will be pulled toward the Legion’s location. Can damage foes in the way. The Legion is dismissed after this if you fall into a helpless state. - The distance the Legion goes depends on its type - the Arrow Legion covers the most distance, while the Axe Legion covers the least distance. - Down Special: Summon/Dismiss Legion: Simply tap to call out the current Legion on the spot, or dismiss it. - Change Legion: Hold the button to make a ring of Legion icons appear around the Legionis. Tilt the Circle Pad toward the Legion you want to select (in clockwise order from up: Sword, Arrow, Arm, Beast, Axe). - Final Smash: Legionic Fusion: Fuses with their Legion core and rushes forth, smashing opponents through a gate to the Astral Plane and clawing them in a cinematic attack.
- Entrance: Chain Jumps in with the Sword Legion. - Idle: Adjusts X-Baton. - Idle: Checks Legatus.
- Up Taunt: Holds Legatus forth as it flashes. - Side Taunt: Holds a finger to head as IRIS activates in their eyes. - Down Taunt: Swings Gladius X-Baton downward. - The Legion will also taunt when the Legionis does.
- Victory: Yanks Astral Chain, making the Sword Legion swing behind. - Victory: Pets Beast Legion. - Victory: Axe Legion shields Legionis with its weapon, then holds their hand.
-= Palettes =- - Male: Blue/white, umber hair, blue Legions, blue Astral Chain (default) - Female: Blue/white, umber hair, blue Legions, blue Astral Chain (default) - Male: Green, black hair, green Legions, blue Astral Chain - Female: Black/red, umber hair, black Legions, red Astral Chain (Raven Corps) - Male: Yellow/white/gray, tan hair yellow Legions, turquoise Astral Chain (Hal) - Female: White/purple, yellow hair gray/purple Legions, purple Astral Chain (Jena) - Male: Dark-brown, gray hair, red Legions, black Astral Chain (Yoseph) - Female: Black/beige, white hair, beige Legions, white Astral Chain (2B)
-= Trivia =- - Having the Legion active will turn the Legionis’s hair blue, like in the game. Certain palettes have different Astral Chain colors, and that also applies to the hair color change. - The victory poses are based on when the Legionis recaptures the Sword Legion, a bonus action they can do with the Beast Legion, and a moment before the final battle when the Axe Legion protects them. - Kirby’s Copy appearance may just use the male Legionis’s hair and the Legatus Cradle. The hair will also change color while using Send Legion or Chain Bind.
