❧ @lehistorien travelled through time.
life has a way of running away from you, pulling you in directions you didn’t expect it to or even want it to. no matter how hard you try to find a way to escape it, there is none. this is what seems to have happened to brianna and roger lately; she’d been wrapped up in school work, essays to write and deadlines to reach & a flourishing social life, while he’d been showered in essays to mark and the responsibilities which came with the title of ‘professor’. and so their relationship had taken a back seat and fallen to the bottom of their list of priorities. scheduled facetime dates had been postponed, calls had been missed, texts not responded to. it certainly didn’t help that an ocean separated them.
walking out of her final lecture of the week, with every essay handed in & each deadline met on time, brianna pulls her phone out of her bag. she scrolls through her contacts, find roger’s name and taps the messages logo, quickly beginning to type.
( TEXT ⇾ ROGER ♡ ) i’m so sorry i missed your call. this week’s been a little busy, to say the least. ( TEXT ⇾ ROGER ♡ ) but i’m free now! i’m all yours until monday morning.
the texts aren’t sent with the hope of an imminent reply, because judging by the time it is in oxford, brianna suspects he’s either in the middle of his morning routine or already on his way to work. either way, it means he’s busy. still her eyes stay glued to the screen while she walks, and so she fails to notice the familiar figure across the lot.
