hey, I was curious if you'd be willing to share any 'creator commentary' on your lutce cards! like how you chose your designs and what the process was like making them. is it different from the process of your other works?

For anyone reading this, my set is here so you can see what is being referenced

So my first two Rulie stickers started off as random drawings in my notebook. I often take something to draw in around places, so most of the pencil here was done in a moving car lol. I did look up a reference bc I couldn't remember what his boots looked like but otherwise it was largely just doodling, though I did have LUTCE in mind. You can tell I didn't use a reference very much because I drew his arm bracer things wrong.

As you can see I pretty much just took a picture of these sketches and traced + coloured them (in procreate). For all of my works for LUTCE I have nearly forgotten to add a little thing @ my username lol.

I heard somewhere that his tunic could be red so I decided to have him as a red tunic, though the green is nice because it's a bit more different from the other many shades of brown in his design (which I personally think includes his skin colour and the yellow on his shirt. Red, orange, and yellow are all brown-adjacent.) This is also why I like giving him fairy wings, they add a bit more colour.

I have started using parts of step 2 and 3 of lemonheadart's rendering guide (as well as some other small things), and you can mostly see that on fairy hyrule's face here and red tunic hyrule's shadow on his bottom left. Tbf I did not do much shading at all because these were all done late at night and in one sitting (one sitting per drawing at least)

Red-tunic Hyrule originally was meant to be Rulie speaking the fairy chime language and [insert any of the other links] being baffled that he could do that in the background. The fairy wings hyrule is literally just him but he's got them wings. A very well thought-out concept, I know. None of the others started as physical sketches

Anyways, since I did start doing these as the event progressed and I got asks, the next one was dead hyrule (first shown here). Obviously the best of the ones I've made on concept alone. I wanted to make more than just two stickers so what's better than Rulie But He's Fucking Dead? Nothing. I have no more to say on that one.

As for the two cards, I started off with Legend's card. I played a small bit of A Link to the Past, which is one of Legend's games as evident by his bracelet (which he gets from Ravio in that game). He can turn into a painting in this game, so that painting is what he's vaugely based off of there. I figured I would make it look like a playing card (thus the 'L' as the class or whatever it's called for Link) so I duplicated the lineart, flipped it (to be like a real playing card), coloured them both, and then it looked pretty okay.

For Warriors' card I went for a lineless/bold colours style, and picked hearts because I think that fits him... and that's about all I have to say, this post is getting long haha

I LOVE your playing card legend and warriors cards you made for LUTCE!!! and your hyrule stickers are so CUTE!

What was it like creating the cards and the stickers? What made you think of the ideas for them? What was the most fun part of making them?

Honestly the most interesting process (that wasn't just sit there for an hour or so and draw a card) was for two of the three hyrule stickers were first sketched both in the car while being driven to a restaurant, and also partly while in said restaurant.
