WE’RE GETTING THE WEDDING ARC!!
How one line can change the audience's accepted assessment of the characters and plot:
At first we all had this idea that Lenore’s and Annabel’s dynamics were flipped in death because in life Lenore didn’t have anything to lose so she was willing to let everyone burn if it helped her be with Annabel, but Annabel had a father and a reputation to uphold to. And that in Nevermore Annabel remembered how crazy Lenore was about her and at the point of her death she was just as crazy so she only plotted to save Lenore and herself no one else, but Lenore who was back at beginning point made friends who she came to love immediately and now she was the one that had things to lose. But turns out we were wrong.
I kind of hate that this line disregards everything this fandom has loved and accepted as canon regarding Lenore's character. Truth is, she's truly not that different from how she is in Nevermore. She's still not willing to destroy everything in her way to get to Annabel the way Annabel does for Lenore in Nevermore.
This line here implies that she waited MONTHS, risking Annabel marrying between that time, to go after her. And takes away the idea we had of her risking it all and impulsively setting the house on fire with all the servants inside just to go marry Annabel. Even though that's not really something to be proud of Lenore has this dark vibe in most of the flashbacks that truly made us think she would definitely murder anyone in her way. But sadly it was not that way.
I know it feels like they're trying to make Lenore completely morally good even in life but idk. Lenore already had this way of behaving from the beginning of Nevermore where she pretends to be this rebellious and uncaring person but always ends up showing she deep down has a good heart, and this is before having her memories. So this makes me think that at her core that's who she truly is. It's just that the flashbacks and the way the imagery are displayed it makes us reach the conclusion we all reached of their dynamics being flipped in death, and it all made sense till this one line.
It also seems to me that Annabel's POVs specifically mislead us to think how we originally did. Even if we don’t exactly get her thoughts when a flashback starts with her we know it’s her POV. And when we see Lenore through Annabel’s mind she seems like this dangerously exciting person, full of mystery and impulsivity that seems crazy for her. So my headcanon is that our old idea of canon it’s just how Annabel views Lenore.
SPIDER-MAN KISS EXCEPT ITS A HUG???
