Five months after the body of a Bladenboro football player was found hanging from a swing set, the same questions persist and none appear to have been answered.
Many people in this small Bladen County town continue to believe 17-year-old Lennon Lacy was the victim of a hate crime, including his mother, Claudia Lacy, who spoke Wednesday night at a meeting organized by the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People.
Claudia Lacy questions the romance of her son and a 31-year-old neighbor, Michelle Brimhall, who has since moved back to her hometown in Illinois. Claudia Lacy wonders whether the relationship - Brimhall is white - may have provoked someone to violence in a rural Southern town where racial tensions once ran deep.
not surprised that this isn’t getting resolved. if a white person had been found like this, no stone would be left unturned in the quest for answers and someone to blame, but a black person, especially one dating a white woman while in the south? please. this is going to remain “unsolved” forever. all to protect the illusion of white purity and innocence.
