Do you have self image issues at all?
Definitely! Everyone does. No matter how confident you are or how attractive people tell you you look, everyone always wakes up on some days and looks in the mirror and thinks: “UGH! Why me?!” It’s pretty much a fact of life. It just gets easier as you get older, because you see more of the world and your views aren’t so narrow and you realize that narrow views of who you are are not necessarily valid (from yourself or others), and also, because it’s exhausting to always be carrying that kind of emotional weight around all the time. It gets to a point when you age that you’re like “UGH! Why me?!” but then you think about how you’re going to dwell on it all day and how you just don’t have the time or patience you used to, and you’re like: “Fuck it! I got other things to pay attention to! I’ll get over it!”Aging is wonderful and terrifying all at once. You start caring more about meaningful things in life, more about people, and a hell of a lot less about their opinions and things that drag you down (usually).
I think it might be because it's kinda the norm for gay guys to date their "twin". So for you to date someone who's not always at the gym breaks this and it may seem weird to people who expect you to be a more shallow than a kiddy pool
TBH, as long as whoever I’m dating respects my life style, I don’t care whether he’s into fitness or not. My only issue is when I try dating someone and they start harping on because I can’t go out to eat at restaurants (strict diet) or because I’m “spending too much time at the gym.” If you can respect that I generally live for this and I make sacrifices for it because it’s what I enjoy doing, that’s pretty much all I need. If you happen to be into fitness, that’s just a plus.
I’m actually less worried about finding a fitness boyfriend than a gamer boyfriend. That’s one thing that’s a lot less negotiable for me (because some of my exes were unbearable about my gaming and I’m not dealing with that anymore).
