A Letter for Lesaine
[ For @we-sisters-three ]
The letter arrives in a pale, purple envelope and there’s a faint scent of dreamfoil to the similar colored parchment. Inside are two letters, a version in Common and a version in Darnassian. They both say the same thing, and are both written in the same sort of hand that suggests the writer doesn’t often put a pen to paper.
Greetings Lesaine,
I apologize for the delay in sending my initial letter; one of my rabbits hid your address under her very large backside and it took me some time to find it. Do you have any pets? I have five rabbits and a treant sapling, and a sprite darter -- but I am more a pet to her than she to me.
I apologize again. I forgot I should start off by asking how you are. I am dreadfully out of practice with letter writing. I think the last time I did it was a business one and not a very exciting read. And probably five years ago? Six maybe? Time and I are not friends, and I often lose track of it. Give me a chance to start over?
How are you? I hope well! Did you do anything for the recent holiday? I dressed my rabbits up in cute outfits, and we all had dinner together. Do you like to cook? I made the rabbits a carrot slaw, and a small fruit salad to share. I had a larger portion of both as I am not one for meat. (As you may have guessed, I have no one special in my life but my pets.) Later in the day my treant sapling, Twig, and I sunbathed together. Twig has pale purple bark and much darker foliage, and is so cute! Even if he spilled ink on the first draft of my letter.
The matchmaker said I should introduce myself, share what I do, and if you haven’t guessed, I have a great love of animals. I am a Druid of the Antler, and a mender that works with both people and animals. During the expedition to the alternate Draenor I celebrated my 1900th birthday, and I am the youngest of two. (My brother is a quite a bit older than I. I think I was a bit of an ‘oops’, if you will.) Do you have any siblings? What sorts of things do you like to do? Besides druidism, I am an alchemist and I like cooking and gardening. I also have been caring for rabbits since before the War of the Shifting Sands, and a few of my current pets could trace their lines back to my original rabbits! If, that is, rabbits cared for genealogy. Mine, I fear, care far more about hay than history.
I will close out the letter here, but I look forward to hearing from you! The matchmaker said you are working on your Common? I included the Darnassian version in case you needed any assistance translating. I learned Common quite a few years ago now, but I remember it was a challenge for me when I did! I pray it goes easier for you than it did for me! I am happy to help as much as you’d like!
