Thoughts on the new Blueberry Meerca? Love that there's a new food-based colour that's not one of the usual species, and with a new magical plushie too!
I like the concept of the blueberry Meerca—it's super cute, and while I think it's still best if the Chias "own" the fruit colors, having an occasional one-off like this is fun. The color palette is also nice, and the way the tail becomes a blueberry bush is a good touch.
However, I do find the execution a little lacking here. For one, it just kind of looks like a regular blue Meerca; comparing it to fruit and veg Chias, I would expect it to have some shinier highlights, the mottled texture of a blueberry, no arms, etc. The "crown" is a nice touch, but having a solid line underneath of it makes it look more like a hat than the Meerca's body. I also feel like the tail area is a bit too busy; it's the right idea, but the amount of leaves and blueberries could've been greatly simplified. I still like it, I just don't 100% love it.
The flowers are an optional wearable, which I appreciate. Even though they make the tail busier, I do think I like it better with them, mostly because they help break up the otherwise pretty dark low-contrast palette.
Overall though, like I said, it's fun and I wouldn't mind seeing a few more fruit and veg pets in the future.
