Tony would like to get two things on the record.
First, nobody looks at Steve Rogers, this six-foot-two brick wall of a man, and thinks of him in baby shoes.
Second, Tony is aware that he should probably stop taking temporary custody of alien technology and playing with the space-time continuum.
But right now, he’s staring at a woman, maybe thirty, who's staring back at him with familiar eyes. Her blonde hair is twisted loosely at the nape of her neck and one strand of it has slipped free, framing a face that takes Tony a second to place—and oh god, he’s never wished so badly for an enormous emergency STEVE button he can slam.
“Ms. Rogers,” Tony manages, trying to keep them both as calm as possible as he reaches for his phone. “Hi. I'm friends with your son.”

Steve’s arm has never quite healed right after his little stunt with the tourniquet, as Tony calls it. He doesn’t know if it’s because of the alien metal he was cut to the bone with or because it was Thanos who did it, but it still aches. He can’t swing the shield with that arm anymore. He can barely carry the weight of it. It’s been months and as he lays in bed with the scar that has shown no signs of fading, he suddenly knows without needing to be told that he’s down a fighting arm.
“Stop looking at it,” Tony says, the bed dipping as he lays down at Steve’s back and wraps one arm around him from behind, his hand covering Steve’s forearm, both of them scarred.

i love the thought of the young avengers having grown up watching steve fight for their world and they're now training with him and learning to do the same so everything they do has a little bit of steve in it and his real legacy is just this generation of kids who want to do some good in the world
