i dont know if i ever told the story of how i came out of the closet to my mother, its a hilarious one.

first of all some context, i had just broken up with my girlfriend with whom i live at the time, so i went to stay at my mom's house for a week to lick my wounds and have some distance

we broke up because the relationship just wasnt working, in great part because it was becoming excessively obvious that i was trans and my ex was being more and more put off by it because she was not attracted to girls.

so.

since my biggest relation had failed and my life was pretty much over and i had nowhere else to go but up, i decided it was finally time to be honest with my self, and also with my family.

the way i decided to introduce the topic to my mom was thus:

"hey mom, you see how i broke up with my girlfriend?"

"yeah?"

"well, the reason for that is that we were just no longer compatible... um... like she was not attracted to me any more [im searching for photos in my cellphone]"

"ok...?"

"and im going to show you the reason for that..."

"i dont think think i want to see this, actually"

"no no, look [i show a photo of me dressing up as a girl for the first time the night i came out of the closet to my ex]"

"oh! that! sure, i was worried you were going to show me something weirder" (i think she thought i was going to show her that we had like incompatible kinks or things werent working in bed or something, im not sure)

"yeah so the thing is, im going to be exploring, uh, certain aspects of my identity, i dont know what answers i might arrive at but... id like to go as amanda"

"yeah, sure, no problem"

for years i was was preety surprised at how non chalant she was about the whole affair until one day she confessed to me.

"honestly it was more of a shock to me when you told me you were dating a trans girl, after that i just accepted you were different"
