"L'undicesimo comandamento" (1962), di Lester Del Rey (Urania 70 anni di futuro). Invito tutt3 ad approfondire la vita dell'autore, che é un po' pazzerella e divertente. Per quanto riguarda questo libro, la storia ha ottimi spunti, la prosa - per quanto semplice e lineare - é al servizio della trama, e funziona molto bene. Il plot é molto potente: la Terra é diventata una colonia "discarica" in cui vengono confinati tutti gli esseri viventi che hanno animalie genetiche o malattie, in modo da preservare la razza pura (e bionda...) che ormai vive stabilmente su Marte. E sulla Terra che succede? La Chiesa (tra le sue varie correnti e divisioni) gestisce la vita di tutti, applicando (soprattutto negli Stati Uniti, visti sempre come l'unica parte di mondo degna di essere raccontata da un autore USA) l'undicesimo comandamento: riprodursi senza tregua, per quanto le risorse siano limitate. Dietro questa strategia, scopriremo, ci sono anche motivi di tipo piu pratico, ma il popolo è completamente assoggettato a leggi e dogmi religiosi per vedere i veri problemi. Chi lo avrebbe detto, vero? Quella storia della religione e dell'oppio é sempre valida. Chi é più avvezzo alla sf di quel periodo, sa che alcuni temi sono ricorrenti nella sensibilitá dell3 autric3 dell'epoca. Nella stessa collana "70 anni di futuro", ci siamo imbattut3 in cose simili. Il tema religioso e il potere della chiesa sono anche in "Guerra al grande nulla"; una Terra radiottiva, immondezzaio dell'universo, popolata da essere mutati era presente in "Paria dei cieli". Leggendo "L'undicesimo comandamento" si ha l'impressione che un centinaio di pagine in piú lo avrebbero aiutato. Si racconta un mondo e si conoscono personaggi che avrebbero meritato maggiore spazio. Anche una saga in più volumi non avrebbe affatto sfigurato. Cosí resta "soltanto" un buon libro, avvincente e ricco di spunti.
