byler getting faggier when they move to nyc. they both feel more comfortable as gay men and have access to so much gay culture now so they want to try to learn about it. they’re still nerds so they don’t quite fit in with other gay guys but they do have a group of fellow geeky queers. they both play around with makeup and will even makes friends with a group of drag artists on campus. he starts doing drag very casually, like if one of his friends wants to have a small show and needs performers. he does some sort of gothy performance art that’s lowkey kinda cringe but mike is obsessed with it.

mike starts presenting a bit more femme, wearing long flowy skirts (mostly just around friends he knows are safe, it’s not really a big deal for him beyond the principle of it) and growing his hair back down to his shoulders. he’s more into classic queer stuff, becoming obsessed with oscar wilde and learning a bunch about male relationships in ancient greece. i do think he watches will and grace every week and it doesn’t always entirely sit right with him and he doesn’t even identify with the characters but it’s also something he wishes he had when he was younger.

i need byler to get 100% more faggier in every fic tbh, dial up the queer by 6574393490000 like lets get some fem will and some nerdy ass mike going to a queer bar with will and watching drag shows - and they need to make drag queen friends that occasionally hit on the both of them. i can see mike presenting slightly more femme just for the sake of will, or for the sake of signalling once he gets more comfortable (also growing out his hair again pleeb) but i think it's more important for will to embrace that side of himself that he was always bullied for and finally getting the courage to wear gnc stuffff plsssss
