I wouldn’t have even noticed you passing by if you hadn’t stopped and said hi. I didn’t recognize you at first; you looked happy. I smiled at you. I didn’t have the guts to tell you to wait. I just wanted to ask if we could maybe start over. I felt like it was my purpose to talk to you since you didn’t just walk on by... but I just let you go. I didn’t even say goodbye.

I’ve read something that reminded me of this, and I think it’s a good place to start.

1- boundaries are good, they’re your friend

2- decide what your core values are

3- you cannot change others, so change yourself

4- decide the consequences ahead of time

5- let your behaviour, not your words speak for you

6- say what you mean, mean what you say

They are pretty self explanatory, specially for me. I used to write down philosophies in life and I know deep inside, I still have many of them down. I need to start doing that again, I want to start doing that again.

Healing. I need to remind myself that healing doesn’t happen overnight, it is a constant battle and it will not be a pretty sight however, I need to remind myself to give time...time. To let time do it’s job. To breathe and enjoy life as it comes. And to not be frustrated with myself while in the process of healing.

So many things. Toxic people, toxic situations, the things that are in my head. I know life won’t be complete without bad things, the gloom and doom sometimes makes the good worth more. Dealing with these things can be taxing but they make the good feel so much better.

I say these things but it’s still a struggle for me to believe. And that, that’s what I need to get rid of.
