we won’t know the specifics of how bad it got but the fact that she believes Joe saved her life makes me want to d word 😮💨 i ache for her
So many of the lyrics on rep make so much sense with the context we have now... like "I did one thing right" and "my one and only, my lifeline" and "I woke up just in time" and "starry eyes sparking up my darkest night"
And obviously none of that negates any of the work she's put into making it through and recovering and working towards healing, like as per her own words, she absolutely did climb up the cliff and turn the car around, and that can definitely co-exist with the evermore bridge and parts of TIMT
“writing letters addressed to the fire” gives me the archer vibes. “i've got a hundred thrown-out speeches i almost said to you”
i don’t think they are directly connected cause i think we both agree that the archer is very much a swiftwyn song. but it’s also about overall anxiety, and maybe it somewhat connects to that part in evermore. but i don’t think the fans are the “you” she mentions so idk what to think lmfao
Oh I kinda get that, I think they're about separate situations but both link to "I never had the courage of my convictions" and the general feeling of not being able to properly verbalise how you feel because of anxiety and self-doubt
evermore is the best song on evermore
-after cowboy like me and ivy exactly 🙏
thinking about the metaphors on cowboy like me and how it’s yeehaw ready for it... yeah
The way you could do a find and replace and this would become a perfect description for CLM...
Oooh I like your interpretation of champagne problems. Reminds me a lot of The Haunting of Bly Manor (kinda spoiler if anyone hasn’t watch it) which I’ve seen people do lyrics edits with.
YUPPP and also Jo x Laurie as well
when do you think taylor and joe wrote champagne problems? cause she said he was playing piano and she came up with the lyrics, but wasnt evermore recorded in new york? maybe they wrote it for folklore??
I think maybe they wrote it in London and then did a voice memo, and then she recorded it properly at long pond?
yeah songs are up for interpretation, like i’ve never thought of champagne problems having queer implications - which is interesting! while it’s clear taylor intended betty to be from a male perspective; resonating it to have queer themes is cool, and taylor does want us to take her songs and make them ours, so. the only issue i have is when fans decide lyrics interpretation acts as definite proof of some sort, contradicting and ignoring taylor had explained personally of her songs, eh..
Omg I've always imagined the girl in champagne problems rejecting her boyfriend's proposal because she's gay but doesn't completely know it and is with him because of comphet and that's why she couldn't give him a reason?
And yeah same, especially when people don't actually analyse lyrics and just link lines to IG captions, or they decide it's about the same thing as another song because ~parallels~
