Project 28: Presidential Campaign Logo

When I assigned this project, I knew right away that I wanted to create a logo for myself if I were to run for president. My running mate, Amy Poehler, and I wanted something approachable and funny..

In all seriousness, I am a libertarian so depending on the current political climate, I like to say I am an active non-participant. I only feel comfortable voting for someone I truly believe in, not the least crappy of two options so sometimes that means that i chose not to vote after researching my options. That led me to creating a sort of satirical campaign logo based on the idea of ridiculous promises: free donuts for all! I did create a serious variation of my circular logo. I wanted to throw back to the logos in the WWII era that were created for buttons using basic shapes that got the job done. I chose an approachable but strong typeface and used white with a two-tone cyan blue background to create a modern looking crest while remaining approachable with the color.

Project 19: Free For All

Hey errybody! I'd like to debut The Letter Society's new look! This is based on my submission to last month's challenge. We worked collaboratively to come up with something that we all felt represented our group well. It's new! It's modern! It's sexy! It's The Letter Society!

Project 18: Letter Society Rebrand

For this redesign I decided to approach the rebrand with the mindset of a slight modernization. Overall, I was really happy with the previous (existing) branding, so I wanted to make something that was a logical evolution of the established look and feel.

Here I decided that there can and should be more image integration into the layout and design of the branding elements of the blog. I think our branding should be conceived to pay off higher and higher res displays in a way that's complimentary to our aesthetic.

Project 18: Letter Society Rebrand

Happy Posting Day, all :)

I'm really happy with the way my design for the rebrand turned out! Because our logo is always displayed above our work on the site, I wanted to keep it all very clean & neutral.

I chose a gold leaf letterpress approach to give ourselves a classy look, while keeping in touch with our more creative side by showing the texture of the paper & the torn edges. I also played with the placement of the type, varying the placement of the letters to give it a handmade feel. With all of us designers coming together as one, I think simplicity is the best approach for our overall esthetic. Happy 1 Year, Letter Society! We love you!

So after a recent trip to my home state, I've had Austin and Texas, in general, on the brain. I'm really into neon signs so I thought it would be fun to create some good ol' fashion gifs!

Project 17: State Your Case

I was very excited about this project. As a Maryland girl stuck in an Ohio world, I have been meaning to create some Maryland themed décor for my place ever since I moved to my current apartment in March. Both my roommate and I are from Maryland and we are also both designers so you know we can’t put anything less then perfect on our walls!

  I chose to do sets of minimalist prints based on the colors of the Maryland flag as well as our two most well known sports teams; the Orioles and the Ravens! They are pretty simple using halftone patterns and line work to complement each other.

  Also, for the diehard Marylander outside of Baltimore, I created a second set of prints that includes what we Marylanders do best…Crabs!

  I can’t wait to get these up in my own apartment! Hope you like them!

Project 16: Material Design- Etsy

For this design challenge, I chose to rework one shopping marketplace that I regularly use, Etsy. Using elements from my shop and pairing them with Material Design standards has produced some fun results! Hope you enjoy-

Project 15: Stamps, Lacoste, FR

I've been feeling pretty nostalgic lately for Lacoste and France in general. It's been 3 years since I had the best summer of my life there and although the stamps are pretty generalized, it was fun looking through old photos for inspiration and thinking of all the memories I created there. It also didn't hurt that I was drinking rosé all the while designing.
