I'm glad you made it today.
I know, life has been rough lately. I know, you're confused with what you wanna pursue. Lost in the path you wanna take and constantly beating up yourself to figure out everything at once. I understand you and what you're feeling is okay. That is valid. But hey, that's not how life works. You don't have to figure out everything now. Don't beat yourself too much, loosen up! It's okay to loosen up. It's okay to be dorky sometimes. Everything's gonna be okay and all will fall into their own places in time.
I know, some days are hard. It's not always rainbows and butterflies. But I hope when days are hard, you allow yourself to feel whatever it is your body asks you to feel. If you're sad, then so be it. If you wanna cry, then cry as much as you want. If you're frustrated, then scream till your lungs are out. Let yourself feel whatever you are feeling. Please, don't bottle up your feelings again and wait yourself to explode. I hope you'll be more honest with yourself this time. And let me remind you, it's okay to not be okay. Your feelings are always valid.
I know, you are afraid to fail and disappoint the people you love. But I hope you also understand that failure, rejection and disappointments are part of our lives. And that every failure and disappointments mean that you care, that you are trying, that you are growing, that you're out there in life willing to learn. You are a work in progress. You still have a long way to go. And I'm so proud of you for always trying and giving your best.
I know, sometimes you're tired of acting tough cause that's how they know you. That you are strong, insensitive, cold-blooded and heartless person. But, I hope you know that it's okay to be vulnerable. It's okay to let them see your soft side too, that you are not always strong and reliable. That you're sensitive and emotional. It's okay to breakdown and show them that you're just a human too. That you also have your shortcomings, that you also fall short in life, that you're also going through hard times. You don't have to hold back your tears anymore. Let it out, let them see how fragile you are, how exhausted you are. It's okay, you no longer have to hide in that strong facade you created a long time ago. You will still have me regardless. I still love you, okay?
I hope you'll learn how to live, not just survive. Live your life to the fullest. Live in the present, not in the past nor in the future. Free yourself from all the worries that has been bothering you. Free yourself from who thought you should be and from who society told you to be. You are your own person. Do everything at your own pace. No need to rush things. Celebrate your small wins and stop beating yourself up for the things you cannot achieve yet. And I hope, you won't let your worries take away your precious and genuine smile again. It's okay to prepare about the future but stop overthinking about it. Just live in the present. One step at a time, dear. You'll get the things that are really meant for you eventually. I'm always here to support you.
Lastly, thank you. Thank you for choosing to live. Thank you for always choosing to live despite of wanting to disappear from this world. For staying alive despite how hard life is. For always getting up despite how life knocked you down so many times. For showing up and braving the storms though you really wanna give up. Thank you for holding on and keeping your life. I hope and pray, that you will continue choosing to live no matter how hard the situation is, no matter how vicious life is.
The world is cruel yet beautiful. Keep going. Keep living. Keep fighting. You matter. You are enough. You are loved.
I'm so proud of you. Happy birthday.
Love, Your 8-year-old self.
