Nvidia makes AV news at GTC with Level 4 advances
Nvidia makes AV news at GTC with Level 4 advances At its premier conference today, the AI pioneer announced that vehicle makers like BYD, Geely, Isuzu, and Nissan are building Level 4-ready vehicles on its Hyperion platform, and it rolled out a Halos OS, new Alpamayo model, and NuRec technologies help train, simulate, and refine autonomous driving systems at scale.
Roboshuttles have always been envisioned as a futuristic concept, aiming to be small, shared vehicles that operate more flexibly than buses.
Hey, Ford Built A Self-Driving Truck Too!
Ford has jumped on the bandwagon of autonomous vehicles, which isn't new news, but now introduces the F-Vision, an autonomous-truck. This is a smart direction to go since it really benefits everyone, many companies would benefit to follow in their footsteps. It's a lot safer than having a human driving for extended periods of time, avoiding accidents, and the autonomous-truck can function during the day and night, holidays, etc.
Ford unveiled the F-Vision at the Hannover Motor Show, but it won't be entirely autonomous. This silver beast comes equipped with Level 4 autonomy, meaning there is a human overseeing the directions of the truck, whether physically there or not. This makes it obvious as to why the F-Vision has a cockpit with a windshield and a human-sized door. The windshield design is a bit strange for my test, but hey, its the idea behind it that could really make a difference, not necessarily how it looks.
