The decision to amplify America’s presence in Afghanistan is unsettling because the US has failed at stabilizing the country for the last 16 years. So much so that Afghanistan is the longest war in American history. Yet in an awful catch-22, an effort to walk away from stabilizing Afghanistan would sabotage US security and national interests. The struggle America faces is to provide adequate stability with minimal but still present military involvement in order to help give a centralized government control over the country and ensure the stability needed to reignite the economic activity that can raise the Afghan standard of living.

Trump is literally pocketing our tax money with his vacations and his douchy luxurious lifestyle, and conservatives are happy about it because Trump's budget means that at least hungry children won't get school lunches anymore and empathetic artists won't get grants anymore.

The overwhelming evidence of a fucked up planet in ecological distress is copious and freely available. NASA cares deeply about your scientific understanding and global consciousness, and they have prepared a wonderfully concise website that shows how the evidence of climate change goes far beyond the simple and inarguable rise of average temperature. (Hint: I bet you didn’t know about ocean acidification–which has risen 30% from what it used to be–and unless you think 2/3rds of the Earth’s surface should absolutely be an acidic wasteland inhabited solely by jellyfish, you might want to start giving a fuck.)

The Congressional power to declare war was designed as a safeguard against tyranny, and our members of Congress have willingly abandoned their Constitutional authority because war schemes might come back to hurt their reelection campaigns if things don’t pan out like the warmongers promise. Again, Trump illegally bombed a nation the US is not at war with, and the Republican Congress isn’t concerned.

Millennial Republicans complaining about how it's so hard and lonely to be a conservative in a university should probably realize that it's because millennials identify with liberal politics by a margin of 2-1. Nothing is a better sign that an ideology is on the wrong side of history than the reality that young people have overwhelmingly adopted its moral opposite.
