It occurs to him-- to Yuugi, this darker part of him-- that somewhere in him there are doubts towards the actions he has taken, that a softer part of him feels guilt of all things for the damage he had wrought with his shadow games. It is not a notion that baffles him as he is not immune to empathy, but it does pose an interesting question as to why. Why, of all things, feel guilt to those who are cruel? To those who would hurt him and his friends? Yuugi can see no reason.
āWhy should I feel bad?ā It is a question asked to himself at large, internal monologue offered up in discontent at the prospect he was being faced with. He can feel the cold slide in his chest, a palpable feeling which is undeniably ugly. He is ugly, at least this part of him. This part who will go to extreme lengths to defend himself and his friends. It was justified, of that he had no doubt.
Sigh escapes, snake coiling in breath at the problem this all posed him.Ā āIf people are cruel I must be cruel in kind; cruel to make them see. To make them understand. This is karma.ā And was he not the very embodiment of such? A living breathing expression of karma, here to deliver a righteous justice on those who were terribly guilty? Yes, he thought so. He had no doubt.

Atem did not consider himself to have any kind of magic since he had lost the puzzle, but there was a bond that could not be broken between Yuugi and himself. A bond that was certainly forged with magic, but not strengthened with it. What made the bond strong was their care and consideration for each other.Ā
Atem didnāt debate it, he had no hesitancy at all. Even though he had just decided that he wouldnāt tell his friends he was back in this world no matter how brief, he couldnāt ignore the phantom grief he felt.Ā
He made one phone call and by all the gods this asshole owed him. Kaiba sounded far too put off by the request, but he knew his rival, and he knew he would know EXACTLY where Yuugi was.Ā
Atemās heart dropped when he informed him it was the hospital. He caught the proper line and practically ran from the station. Once inside he harassed the desk clerk until he informed him of what floor.Ā
He understood there would be paperwork and the like and so he hoped he made it in time...he also worried what this might do to Yuugi to suddenly see him, but...He needed to be there for Aibou.
He steeled himself and turned the corner to see Yuugi looking as thought he was about to fall over with exhaustion.Ā āYuugi.ā Atem said softly. Just one word, but it held the world in it at that moment.Ā

Atem was currently sitting at a table, with his drink as he anxiously waited. He had decided that he wanted to take Professional Dueling as a career hearing how it was doing well for one of his friends, Kujaku Mai, and it would give him that freedom to enjoy his second life. Both Yuugi and Tarra were very supportive of him and it even got to the point where Atem had test Duels with his Yuugi to see where his level stood and to test his newly improved Deck.
His level has grown even since the last Duel he had and he was confident that he could conquer the tournaments. But⦠To be a professional Duelist he needed a sponsor, and that why he was here in this coffee shop.
Thanks to Sugoroku having connections, apparently there was gaming company who wanted to sponsor Atem as he is the ābrother of the King of Duelistsā and by the videos he and Yuugi had sent to them had show āpromise.ā If Atem made a good impression on this sponsor, he was sure to get the deal.
But at the same time, he was quite anxious waiting here. The sponsor was supposed to show up soon⦠What if they decided to change their mind? He shake his head, that was nonsense. He shouldnāt worry, he was confident in his skills⦠And he was confident in his people skills⦠Just as long as he doesnāt freeze.

Yami had spontanously remembered his birthday on the very day itself. Though it was too short-notice to do anything elaborate, he was completely content with a simple activity. They both went to a peaceful, quiet grassy field together. He loved how colorful the place was. It was quite the romantic spot too.Ā
The pharaoh was going to find a place for them to sit when he suddenly saw Yuugi get down on one knee. He wanted to ask if the other found a beautiful flower or shiny rock, but paused when his gaze met the open black box.
Quietly he listened to Yuugiās beautiful speech, until it was time for the one, fateful question. He stammered, fidgeted and pointed at himself sheepishly, cheeks flushing a soft red.
āY-...yuh-... yeah-... yes. Yes! I want to marry you, aibou.ā
As the ring slipped on YamiāsĀ slender finger, he was still processing the energetic storm of emotions he felt. A bright smile formed on his face, the warmest he has shown to anyone. He felt his partner had shown so much love and bravery in the proposal.
āIām incredibly happy we love eachother just as dearly. Iām happyĀ weāve come this far, happy that we can take our bond even further. Most of all I amĀ proud of you, Yuugi. Iāve always been. You were already very kind and brave, and youāve grown so much. Truly, you have the heart of a pharaoh.ā

Heartless. That was what the silver-haired man had called them. Riku. He had tried to comprehend everything that he had warned about them, but the short male was still confused about all of this. How in the heck did these things even get here? Something about ābeing drawn to the light of hearts and they are drawn to the Keybladeā. Well, he knew about the light and darkness thing, but everything else still made him feel clueless.
Yuugi had next to no chance of fighting these things. Summoning the spirits of his duel monster cards were helping somewhat, but they just kept on coming. Riku was fighting beside him, using his sword that was shaped like a Key. In truth, ever since this man showed up, that was when the Heartless came.
Or, they had probably always been here and Yuugi never knew about it.
The short male was sweating a little as Riku and himself stood in the middle of an abandoned alley. It was⦠a rather dangerous situation. Heartless surrounded them at every turn and seemed to only get worse.
However, while Yuugi was too busy trying to summon another spirit monster out onto the battle field; he failed to notice a few Heartless coming up behind him. But before anything could happen, he heard a rather loud slashing noise from behind him.
Upon turning his head, the short male noticed that Riku was standing behind him once more, but was not facing him. Yuugi blinked in shock a couple times before smiling sheepishly. āErm⦠thanks for that.ā
Why the heartless were so adamant on attacking this particular individual, Riku didnāt know, but somehow it was like flies to a bug light. The more he destroyed, the more it felt like were coming. Thankfully for the young man, Riku was used to impossible odds and fighting against the shadows that went bump in the night.Ā
Not to say that the other was completely useless. Whatever these creatures were that he kept summoning, they seemed to be able to fight. Wait, maybe that was it? Hearts were not just in the living, but could be born in other things too. Perhaps these creatures had hearts of their own, and with their summoning, they too were susceptible to the heartless? Maybe this youth, with his ability to call forth these monsters, was simply one big beacon of hearts that frenzied the heartless?Ā
That could get really complicated really quickly.
Unfortunately it seemed that though he could summon creatures to fight for him, the duelist had no experience in combat himself, and he left his back wide open to attack. Riku was able to flash around the other in one easy sliding step and intercept an attack by the heartless with a swipe of his keyblade. Riku straightened as he was thanked, keeping an eye on the area in case more began to swell from the darkness around them.Ā
āYeah.ā The keyblade master answered distantly.Ā āLetās go before they come back.ā Riku pivoted and pushed off, breaking into a run to take them out of the alleyway.Ā
āWhat was that anyway?ā He called back curiously.Ā āThose monsters you summoned? How did you do that?āĀ
