For the drabbles about songs thing: Fireflies by Owl City (I'll let you pic the characters and the context and stuff ^_^)
Eeee <3 I love Fireflies <3
The first star came into view, twinkling gently in the darkening sky. He let out a soft exhale as his companion nuzzled up against his chest. She closed her eyes, muttering for him to make a wish. His golden gaze flickered toward the wishing star and he smiled sadly. He didn’t believe wishes came true, but something in his heart, a deep longing, fluttered onto his tongue.
"I wish…." his companion mumbled, drifting off to sleep with her salmon colored cap slipping to the ground. Whether she made a wish or not, was unclear. But he knew she would not tell him either way in fear her wish would not come true.
I wish… He ran his slender fingers through her hair. He made his wish and the star above glittered, as if confirming his wish had been heard. He glanced up at the sky as a cluster of yellow lights drifted in the air.
"Fireflies." The word caught in his throat. His companion looked up, blinking her eyes wearily as she scanned the floating lights with her childlike scarlet gaze. They both sat there silently, staring at the little creatures, unable to turn away.
After time inched by, she let out a yawn, and he determined it would be best to get her inside. He shifted into a standing position, and with his arms around her, he lifted her up. She let her head fall against his chest, and muttered something he could not understand. Fighting the temptation to kiss her forehead, he ambled toward the house.
As he walked, fireflies hovered around them. A few rested on his shoulders, and some on her stomach, while one fluttered onto her nose. He watched it glow brightly, illuminating her soft features.
I wish…
He took her inside, surprised that the fireflies wouldn’t leave their perch in pursue of their freedom outside. Instead, they stayed put, blinking as he carried her to bed.
He set her down in and tucked her in. She didn’t seem to stir, but a smile curled at her lips. He felt a tenderness in his heart.
I wish…
He returned to his room, where a few fireflies were fluttering. He smiled, puzzled by their behavior, but continued on like nothing was odd. He got into his bed, and watched the fireflies as they floated around the room. He drifted in and out of sleep.
She was in his arms, crying. He held her gently, wanting nothing more than to bring her comfort. He ran his fingers through her hair lovingly. Time inched by, it was true, but soon she would smile again. She would beam with those brilliant white teeth.
She was leaving, and he tried to call out for her to stay. His voice caught in his throat.
"Lucy, stay." He wanted to scream. "I can’t lose you!" She continued down the hall. He couldn’t say goodbye.
He awoke to the fireflies, buzzing around his room. He felt a sort of hopelessness in his heart. The dream… he hoped it held no truth.
I wish…
He watched the glowing creatures before drifting off once more.
She was leaving, and he tried to call out for her to stay. His voice caught in his throat.
"Lucy, stay." He wanted to scream. "I can’t lose you!" She continued down the hall. He couldn’t say goodbye.
There was a sound at his door, and his golden eyes flashed open, fear gripping his heart. It steadied as his gaze fell onto the door. There she stood, wrapped in a blanket. She said that she could not sleep. She asked to stay with him. He moved from the bed, ready to sleep on the floor, but she stopped him.
"Stay with me?" She asked, looking to the bed. He felt his heart pound as he nodded. Together, they snuggled up under the covers. The fireflies continued to glow like little stars, and Lucy muttered something about hoping that he would stay with her forever. Alfendi felt a smile warm his lips as he promised her, "always."
Time inched by. The wishing star twinkled brightly. Two wishes had been granted.
