I always think it’s funny when shows that are supposed to be set in real life go on for a long time and slowly but surely desync from real life’s actual timeline.
The first one that comes to mind is Gray’s Anatomy and that grouping of shows. At a certain point either the writers or someone decided that covid plotlines weren’t doing it anymore and for a good while episodes opened with a message explaining that the show takes place in a world where we fully cured or eradicated covid.
I’m sure there are more.
I hate jobs, I hate working I hate that my managers can fuck up my week and mental health *on accident*. There has to be better ways of living than this. I hate that I am so beholden to them and I have no recourse when they make me feel like shit because of their fuck ups because I have a bad brain that blows things out of proportion.
We always see vampires that have a castle or are vastly wealthy, but we have enough “affluent gays feared and reviled by society” I want more working class vamps. Show me a vampire that is bad with money and has been working back of house for a century. Show me a vampire that just goes to college forever because they don’t feel like they’ve aged out of it yet but they’ve been going to classes for 50 years.Show me sex worker vampires that should be thriving because their job caters to their everlasting youth and nocturnal nature but have no fortune as they help support their mortal peers.
More writers/creators should write down the simple formulae for how stories with theses characters go. Like the Wile E. Coyote and Roadrunner one. By using that template even you could write a perfectly in character and in style segment with those characters (could not should, copyright sucks dont get sued)If this existed for other things, maybe we would have less weird bad adaptations floating around right now.
