I'm surprised I was able to get this far into the 2020's without needing to ask for mutual aid but here we are 💔

Local dentist saw a shadow on an x-ray for an unrelated visit and found bacteria eating away at my tooth and skull thats been happening for years. It hasn't been spotted until now because I wasn't showing any of the associated symptoms.

I need multiple surgeries to get the remains of the front tooth broken into pieces and removed, the bacteria scrubbed off, a bone graft applied to my skull, an implant installed and of course a new crown manufactured and screwed in.

They urged me to do it as soon as possible or else it will get worse.

very irritating how often i see people anthropomorphize nonhuman animals (especially wild animals) on this site and online at large but very disappointing that when someone says 'hey don't project human emotions onto that bird/dog/bear/deer etc.' a bunch of other people are like 'exactly. animals don't care' and then go on to describe nonhuman animals as incapable of sentience, compassion, or thought. perhaps there's a secret option about how nonhuman animals think and feel that's neither 'they think and feel exactly as humans do' nor 'they don't think or feel anything.' but idk i'm just some guy.

it’s a mistake to assume that nonhuman animals have the same conscious experiences as you, but it is also wrong to assume they dont have any conscious experiences at all. both of these are damagingly human-centric, both will lead you to misconceptions about why animals do things, and both completely disregard the unfathomable diversity of possible ways to experience reality.

In my games in gamemaker, any object I needed to be in scenes but wouldn’t be visible still needed to have a sprite so I could see and differentiate them in the scene editor. So I would draw faeries and name them like director_faerie, lighting_faerie, and sounds_faerie

When friends are watching me play certain types of video games I can’t help but intentionally waste time doing stupid shit like exploring every corner or interacting with every little thing multiple times. Partially out of a genuine desire to check everything to look for secrets but also because it’s fun for me to be annoying. Every groan, sigh, or “oh my god Delia come on already” just eggs me on further. It’s a wonder anyone is still willing to watch me play them when having an audience turns me into a gaming brat

every so often I remember when they crashed a train into a nuclear waste storage container, on purpose, to demonstrate how durable they were, and the storage container didn't lose any measurable containment whatsoever.

meanwhile, coal power plants can spray radioactive coal ash willy-nilly into the atmosphere all day and all night, but noooo, it's nuclear power that's the scary bad polluter.

But the triple baka of wind, solar and hydro are right there... complete renuable sources of energy that are even cheaper alternatives... please

We should eventually transition purely to renewables, yes. But wind can't be placed everywhere, solar doesn't work at night and also can't be placed everywhere, and hydro is even more restrictive in its placement. Until we crack those problems, we will need to place power plants in places where hydro, solar, and wind are bad options, and when we do, I'm looking at nuclear far more easily than I'm looking at coal and oil.

A company set up a solar farm near my village and all it did was displace all of the wildlife there so they now roam the neighborhood. Meanwhile the solar farm provides no benefits to the members of our community. Our electric bills are higher than they ever have been

Happy Pride Month everyone, I made this code 3 years ago and it is still one of the works I’m most proud of. Fitting all of this in 280 bytes so I could tweet it out was such a fun and difficult challenge.
