I've been trying to figure out how to articulate this point since the first time i watched greatest hits and I just can't. like. do you understand the parallel here or am I completely insane. charlie was always a little bit doomed and somebody else was always trying to convince themself he wasn't. and it wasn't even for his sake it was for their own somehow. liam deciding he was the doomed one and charlie had to live and the opposite turning out to be true...and desmond being fully ready to kill himself on the incredibly off chance that charlie might live...I don't know. in both cases i just think charlie knows he's doomed. there's no non-selfish reason why desmond would want to die in his place anyway and I imagine the same is true of liam
