Library Extension Sites

Every few years I do a post on the Library Extension and how beneficial it is for readers who want to see if a book is available via ebook or audiobook at their library and this year I've tested a few different sites to see they're all still holding up. I didn't get a lot of reading done this year but I have cleaned up my TBR list so this should make it easier to figure out what to read in 2026.

Not only can you find books from your main library, Libby and Hoopla, it also supports cloud library and boundless. At the end of the year I like to go on NPR's book concierce to see what I've missed out on and throughout the year I periodically check goodreads to find new releases so it's incredibly helpful. Shoutout to the developers who created it and always keep it up to date.

Pulled up Amazon's top list of witch books, opened every single one (except the witch wound one) to check my library extension and see if my library has it available. Worked a lot better than finding one I'm really interested in and being disappointed the library doesn't have it. Fairly certain there might be some raised eyebrows from the librarian with the amount I asked to be placed on hold. Figure a lot of them will get closed and sent back pretty quickly, but I'm hoping quite a few will be interesting and have references and further points to get into.

If anyone's interested, the extension is just called 'library extension' you can add as many libraries as you want to check through long as you have an account I believe. It shows up right near the 'add to cart' and 'buy now' button, showing if your library has it and if so how many.
