the local primary school has put together a half term Halloween scavenger hunt where they’re all looking to find clues to find the letters a special code word. They get a prize if they can find all the letters by the time they go back to school.

By my deductive powers, I have worked out that the code word is Monster Mash. I’ve not told any of the children this, but I’ve told them that when they find all the letters they can come back and show me at the library.

When they do, I’ll tell them they can hit the toe of this little dude.

today at the library I had to cut my way through lots of sellotape that had been used by someone to stick together the pages in our giant copy of Funnybones in completely the wrong order

and then i put the pages back in the right order (i used a couple of scanned copies on archive dot org as a guide, had to use more than one because the first one was MISSING PAGES) and read it as i went and then i got to be like. wait. this is exactly like what happens in the book when the SKELETON DOG GETS PUT BACK TOGETHER WRONG AND THEN THEY HAVE TO FIX IT…

anyway something very satisfying in revisiting an old childhood favourite. although it did feel a bit on the nose
