DC THE DON JOINS REPUBLIC RECORDS AND DROPS NEW SINGLE “Lie2Me”

Hailing from Milwaukee, DC THE DON is a one-of-one creative. He’s not chasing a genre — he’s torching the blueprint. Before the music, there was basketball. A Chino Hills teammate of Lonzo Ball, DC first turned heads with “Everything 1k,” a track made for Ball’s Big Baller Brand ad. The song blew up. So did DC’s realization: music was the real path. A messy contract kept him from releasing music officially for two years. Instead of going quiet, he launched “DC Fridays” — a weekly SoundCloud series that became a cult favorite and kept the momentum alive. In 2020, he signed to Rostrum Records and dropped ‘Come As You Are’, the first real look at a new DC — one stepping away from trap and toward something more wholesome, notable, and honest. It laid the groundwork for 2022’s ‘My Own Worst Enemy’,  a concept album built around two characters: Donny (rage and ego) and Rag3 Kidd (pain and depression). He ended the year with ‘SACRED HEART’, a raw, unfiltered dump of songs he couldn’t let go of — even if they weren’t polished.

By 2023, the world was catching up. He claimed the 10th spot on XXL’s Freshman list and dropped ‘FUNERAL’, a genre-jumping celebration of growth — rage left behind, insecurities buried. His production choices elevated: breakbeat chaos, synth-pop sadness, and ’90s R&B nostalgia. It wasn’t just a pivot; it was a full-blown reinvention. In 2024, he released the ‘2012’ EP and followed it with what he calls his official debut LP, *REBIRTH*. Singles like “VENUS,” “GOD LEVEL,” and “CAN YOU BREATHE?” (featuring a blistering Kanye “Black Skinhead” sample) proved he could go cinematic without losing his edge. The album arrived with a short film — part love story, part fever dream. Then came an era without Rostrum. DC decided to take matters into his own hands. He dropped a snippet of a record that would turn his world around. “GET NAKED”. was set to be a summer anthem — a flip of Gwen Stefani’s “Hollaback Girl”. Fans demanded the sample be cleared. Months later, Gwen approved of the sample use. On May 16, 2025, he independently released “GET NAKED”.  It exploded. Over 90 million streams, 85 million impressions, 100K+ Shazams worldwide, 80K + videos on Tik Tok. Now, DC THE DON sets the stage for his next era with “Lie2Me,” the forthcoming single from his EP ‘the rumors are true’, arriving via Republic Records.

Milwaukee firebrand DC THE DON has signed to Republic Records. The Window-directed music video, out now, explores the allure of a genuine connection that feels too good to be true.

Further highlighting his unmatched artistry, in 2025, DC THE DON treated his fans to the hypnotic party anthem “GET NAKED.” The single instantly captivates, like everything he does, and has since accumulated nearly 90 million streams across platforms and surpassed 200 million impressions on TikTok. DC THE DON parlayed that momentum into a guest spot on the North American leg of J.I.D & Young Nudy’s “God Does Like World Tour.”   “Lie2Me” kicks off a busy year for the Letter 5 designer. It precedes DC THE DON’s first full-length release in nearly two years, and fans have been clamoring for it ever since he shared a snippet of the song on his official Instagram account, complete with a brief video of him skating around town.   This marks the beginning of a new phase in DC THE DON’s career.
